Family-friendly dinner - Harrisburg/Hershey

A group of seven families (13 adults, 7 four-year-olds, 2 two-year-olds, 3 one-year-olds) are going to Hershey this summer. We're staying in Harrisburg. Lunch will be at the park each day, but we'll have three dinners to consider.

Any suggestions for kid-friendly, on-the-quicker-side places that may be able to accommodate such a large group (we're likely fine to split up into separate tables).

Long Island BBQ(Grilling) catering

Thanks susiejane. I got a quote from them... price is a little cheaper than Woodbury Kosher. However, I'm currently leaning towards Woodbury... it's my local butcher, and I know the food is great there.

Long Island BBQ(Grilling) catering

We're having a party in early August at our house in eastern Nassau. I was planning on grilling, but my wife says we should hire someone so I can enjoy the party.

Ben's has a BBQ menu (http://bensdeli.net/caterbbq.html), as does Woodbury Kosher Butcher (in Hicksville). I called Roslyn Kosher Butcher also... they're willing to do it, but they don't have a BBQ menu... they'd just charge me for all the meat and send someone over.

Has anyone done this type of catering (have someone come to grill)?

And to confirm: i'm using BBQ colloquially... as in grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, etc.... not slow cooked brisket and ribs.

Thanks!

Gourmet Glatt called back and said they coudn't sell me any, as their supply was running low (they used the now no longer available Devro casings).

Kosher Sausage Casings

Rather than replying to an old thread on this, I figured I'd start a new one...

I am looking to purchase kosher sausage casings to try out my new meat grinder and sausage stuffer. The old threads I found all pointed to Devro in Australia as the only manufacturer of natural casings. My contact form submission on their website went unanswered, so I called the USA office in South Carolina and was told that they no longer produce kosher (or vegetarian) casings, and have sold out of their existing stock. They gave me the number of a distributor who may have stock left. I haven't heard back yet.

I'm on Long Island, so I figured I'd check local places that make their own sausages (as suggested in other threads). Le Merais in NYC will sell me one "pack"(?) for $14... they say it is enough for about 5lbs of raw meat. I don't know if it is natural or collagen. I'm waiting for a call back from the manager at Gourmet Glatt in Cedarhurst.

Chinese restaurants on Long Island open during Passover?

We normally get Cho-Sen Village in Great Neck, but I'm not sure they're open this year... does anyone know?

"home"-made sausages in NYC or Long Island

Thanks, all. I'll try to make it out to Brooklyn to give them all a shot!

"home"-made sausages in NYC or Long Island

Hmmm, I found this post from last January about this... in fact I even responded about Woodbury Kosher: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/585355

But the other responses were about packaged sausages. So, I'm still wondering about homemade ones.

"home"-made sausages in NYC or Long Island

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get homemade sausages in New York City or Long Island? I love the hot sausage (don't know if they're beef or veal) from Woodbury Kosher in Plainview/Hicksville, and I plan on trying the various sausages at Le Merais. Anywhere else I should try?

I would love to try Jeff's Gourmet Sausage Factory in LA, but they charge a lot for shipping, so I figured I'd see what was available locally first.

best eggs in Palo Alto?

Anyone have a suggestion for the best eggs (omlet or fluffy scrambled) in Palo Alto? I've had the omelet at Joanie's and liked it, but looking for someplace new/better.

I'm hoping for some place on University Ave, but will take all suggestions.

Linda's Hot Dog Boutique - Hicksville, LI

For some reason, this just popped into my head and I wanted to post before I forgot about it. I've seen a little trailer on the side of the road (Rt 107, I think) in Hicksville that says "Linda's Hot Dog Boutique." I have no idea if it's even open now - maybe it's a seasonal thing.

Couldn't find any info on it on CH or google, so I figured I'd see if anyone knew anything about it.

Kosher 'sausage'

May not work geographically for you, but:

Woodbury Kosher, in Hicksville (on the Plainview border - next door to Bagel Boss) has delicious homemade sausage. i've only had the hot kind. I assume it's beef, but haven't asked. I also don't know what other varieties they have -- I tried the hot sausage once and since then always need to have a package in my freezer.

Sun Ming in Hutington (LI)... will it reopen?

Thanks for the tips. We've been to The Orient, and like it. Southern Parkway and Central Park Road in Plainview (next to Hunki's) is Hunan Cottage - we go there often.

We'll add Fortune Wheel to the list, and also try to find the place near the Tri County Flea market (which I've never heard of, but I'll google it).

Sun Ming in Hutington (LI)... will it reopen?

Sun Ming has been closed for a while now... the sign on the door said (haven't checked it for a while though) it was closed for renovations.

Does anyone know the story? Will it reopen? We're still searching for great Chinese food near Plainview, after moving here in May. We ate here twice and really liked it (both the food and the kitsch).

One night in Dupont Circle - what to eat?

I'll be in DC for one night, staying at the Westin Embassy Row. I'm looking for somewhere to eat nearby, as I won't have a car and don't want to venture too far away.

I'll take suggestions for spicy Chinese, spicy Indian, sushi, mexican (good, hole-in-the-wall taquerias preferred).

I'm looking for the best burger in Palo Alto or the surrounding areas. Is the burger at Sundance Steakhouse any good?

recommendations for Plainview, LI

My wife and I are moving to Plainview and would love to hear recommendations for good restaurants. All cuisines, all price ranges. We've been to RedFish a few times (but not in the past year) and loved it. We also tried Morgo's Dynasty this past weekend and thought it was very so-so.

Thanks!

low fat/non fat frozen yogurt?

My wife and I venture out to Truly Yogurt on Grove St in Wellesley at least 4 times a week during the summer. We find the soft serve yogurt (usually just the choc/vanilla swirl) to be much better than anything else we've tasted in the area, including JP Licks.

Victor's Diner - Watertown ?

Ate there once with my wife. I agree with the other posters that the food is very filing, the portions are very large and the staff is nice. But we didn't think the food was that good. It was certainly edible, but the pancakes, scrambled eggs and omelettes were just nothing special. We don't plan on heading back anytime soon for breakfast. Perhaps we'll try their lunch.

Which style burritos are these - steamed (a la Anna's/Boca/Felipe's) or warmed-on-the-grill (a la everywhere else)?

Middle Eastern options?

I'm looking for good falafel/shawarma joints the Newton to Framingham area, or along 128 north of there. I know about Rami's (but don't like the spices on the shawarma) and Samia's in West Roxbury (great falafel lavesh) but was hoping to find out about other places.

I've seen the signs for a place in Framingham, across from Bugaboo Creek but have yet to go there.

looking for great burritos near Grand Central Station

I haven't found anything in NYC that equals Anna's (IMHO) but I haven't spent too much time there.... I'll try Rio Grande next time I'm in NYC. I'm just as much a taco guy as a burrito guy, so I'll try those too!

Shwarma in Li? North Shore? Please?

Glad you enjoyed! I went to Roslyn HS and wish that this place was around in the 90's (it was a bagel place then). I live in Boston now but make sure to stop by for a shawarma pita every time I'm on LI.

Shwarma in Li? North Shore? Please?

Hummus World in Roslyn is amazing. I make a point to stop there whenever I visit family on Long Island. The shwarma and falafel are both unbelievable. They also have a "schawafel" sandwich, with both scwarma and falafel.
