Needs some recs near Columbus Ohio

I will be in Colmbus/Pickerington Ohio for the next few days on business. Looking for some good food from spots enjoyed by locals. I am very adventurous with food so all ethic choices are on the board. I am not looking for fine dining just great food from small non chain places.

Datz Deli in South Tampa

I think you experienced and off day on the pastrami. I have always found their pastrami to be VERY tender. I know what you are talking about and I hate it when in the first bite of my sandwich i pull huge hunks of tough meat out with my teeth.

I know you said you would return, but please let us know if the net time you eat at datz if the pastrami is tough or if you just got a bad sandwich today.

I have returned to Datz 2 more times since my first trip. The service has gotten much better and he food is still top notch. If it was just a bit cheaper I would eat there multiple times per week.

Ohh well, it makes it a great treat, and is definitely worth the price.

You are not too far from Arco Iris a well known local cuban eatery. It is cafeteria style and VERY Tampa. I am sure others will have many more recommendations for you.

I have to agree with you bill. I don't know why First Choice gets all the hype? It's slightly above average at best.

I'll take Big John's or Down to the Bone over First Choice any day of the week.

Sandy Utah Recommendations Feb 22-24

Thanks for the recs. I had heard of Crown Burger and it was definitely on my list of places. I will be traveling with a partner for work who is not as adventurous as me when it comes to dining so I think Indian food is out for us. I personally love Indian and if I get a chance to sneak over on my own I will for sure.

Datz Deli in South Tampa

I hit Datz this week for lunch with 2 non foodie friends. We ordered the following:

1 Officers Club
1 Ty's Two Fister
1 Rueben

We all agreed:
The sandwiched were outstanding. (The rueben and two fister especially)
The homemade chips were unbelievably delicious.
The service was very friendly(but very slow)
I undertand the waiter cant speed up the kitchen, but he was slow on drink refills and on requests like a side of mustard that didnt arrive until our sandwiches were half eaten.
The Kitchen was s.....l....o....w.... I mean really, s...l...o...w...(you get the point)

Again the food was incredibly high quality and VERY tasty and I will give them another chance on the service and ticket times. In my opinion this deli is right up there with the big boys in NYC like Carnegie, and Katz. I actually prefered the sandwiches at Datz to the ones in NYC.

Good job Datz, just get that kitchen firing on all cylinders and you have me for life!

I definitely recommend everyone try Datz and form your own opinion.

Strawberry Onion

I have had decent success using them for cooking. I made French Onion Soup with last years crop and it turned out really nice. I have also roasted them along with red peppers and they come out great.

They are my favorite part of strawberry season here in Plant City.

I will be heading down to Miramar on business today. I will be there for the next couple of days. I am staying at the courtyard marriot off miramar pkwy near I75.

I wanted to know if there were any really good inexpensive places nearby. I love all types of ethnic foods. I am from Tampa so I always get great latin food. I was hoping to find something distinctly "Miami" or something I just can't get in Tampa.

I second Wright's Gourmet. I don't think anyone in town can beat ANY of their cakes. ESPECIALLY the chocolate!

My other favorite dessert in Tampa has to be the macadamia ice cream sundae at Bern's. It's a rare treat but I just love every single taste of that baby.

Reccomendations near Fairfield New Jersey

I will be in New jersey on business for the next three days. i am staying at the Hampton Inn & suites in Fairfield NJ. My traveling companion is not very adventurous with food. I on the other hand am open to all cuisine types. I am looking for any nearby recommendations for lunch and dinner. I don't want to go too high end, just great food, white napkins or paper plates makes no difference to me, it's all about the food.

Best Deviled Crabs in Tampa

I tried Brocatos for the first time today. What an idiot I am for waiting so long! dont even ask me what i was thinking. They have soem fo the best DC I have ever eaten.

I mentioned Linda's Crab Shack in Plant city a few months back, They have been very hit or miss lately and the last time I ate there for lunch the dinning room was filthy. I am going to have to rescind my earlier recommendation until they get it together with more consistency again. Their DC used to be great, they were the only ones I ever ate that had larger pieces of blue crab with very little breading, lately I don't know what they are doing but it's not good.
