Sandrine's excellent!
We ate a beautiful, well appointed white table clothed, QUIET restaurant last night called Sandrine's in 8 Holyoke Street, a small side street off of Harvard Square. Delicious food in the French and Alsatian style, well prepared and beautifully presented. WE had lamb and sea bass- all very tasty.This is a restaurant that is romantic, and encourages conversation. It is very pretty, refined, and the service is excellent. I am so glad we four went there after many years of overlooking it.

keeping kreplach from falling apart?
I seal the edges with water and crimp them - but some of the kreplach fall apart when I cook them in water. How can I keep the edges sealed?

Help for tonight romantic drinks + appetizers?
My husband wants to take us out for our mid-life 16th anniversary - but we only want small things like appetizers and a drink. Would love a place with piano music but not required. We often have gone to Rialto and Bristol Lounge - but would love to think of some place new. We are not young - but we are not old either ~twinkle twinkle~

Where to have lunch near DeCordova Museum - Lincoln
Colonial Inn in Concord has a very old fashioned, and pleasant feeling, dining room. Good for a feeling of the earlier centuries.
Shiraz! 72 Bigelow St Watertown
Four of us ate dinner there tonight. The food was absolutely delicious, although the main dish would benefit from ordering some side vegetables. We had a ground chicken and rice or chicken pieces and rice. ThThe ground chicken options style were likely more tasty than the chicken pieces. e lamb, too, was deemed to be very very good. We had several delicious appetizers and even several amazing Persian desserts. All were wonderful.
The place is pretty and reasonable. More people arrived as we left at 9:00PM. We had relatively sparse company prior. It is well worth it to go back, again. BYOB at this point until further notice of a liquor license. The staff make you feel entirely welcomed.
Very Best Lobster in Boston?
A friend has asked me for a recommendation for the very best lobster dinner in Boston (or surrounding area). As I don't eat shellfish, I didn't have a clue. He wants to take a friend who eats very well in London and show him a comparably great time. No chains please! Thank you

We are bringing our granddaughter back to school at the Phillips Andover Academy and are tired of Bertucci's. Any suggestions for a casual place that a 15 year old would also enjoy for a Sunday night supper? Eurotaste in Needham - now Gabriella's Bistro
I had lunch as Gabriella's Bistro today and it was very good. I had a Slade Nicoise and my friend had a special chicken quesadilla. The prices were very appropriate for lunch and the food was delicious. The room was quiet so we could have a comforatble conversation.
What stands out here aside from our meal, is the desire by the owner and waitress to please the customer. They are a small striving independent restaurant and need support as they are a little gem among several chain places like Wild Willy's and Bertucci's.
Did Pava close?
I found Pava way too expensive for way too little and the atmosphere was cold. I see it looks dark - did it close?
Anyone tried Citrio in Newton Highlands?
I had a cup of tea there and an oatmeal cookin which was divine -even for a pedestrian choice. Also the gelee was delicious - it is an intense fruit chewy gem.

Are Danish Pastry House's pastries too sweet?
We are looking to buy 200 assorted pastries for a 70th birthday party and preferred to go to a very good bakery rather than a cafe that has multiple demands. People on this board in the past have suggested that DPH pastry is too sweet. Is this still the case? Is there another better bakery in the larger Newton-Cambridge-Brookline-Jamaica Plain area?

We Chowhound Grandparents are coming from Boston and so do not know Palo Alto at all. We are grateful for your suggestions. We will be 6 adults and 3 teenagers and one mature 6 year old. Everyone eats widely and spicy is fine but Asian cuisine and seafood would be lowest on our list. Suggestions about places that are fun and not terrifically formal, as we will have the 6-17 yr old set with us, but quiet enough to celebrate Grandpa's birthday, are terrifically helpful. The grandchildren and children are all of the laid back West Coast variety.

Palo Alto 70th birthday dinner with teenagers?
We are having a family reunion with 3 generations which include 3 teens and a very well behaved 6 year old.
Could you please suggest a restaurant in Palo Alto where we could celebrate a bit and have a good time that would be festive and enjoyable for our three beautiful generations? Some place quiet enough for a conversation is priceless.

smashed Yukon Gold potatoes and caramelized onions?
I nee to make mashed potatoes without any dairy for a lactose intolerant relative. So I thought I would make smashed Yukon Gold potatoes and mix them with some caramelized onions sauteed with olive oil. Can anyone see any problems with this?
Anyone been to Pava since S Regis left?
I hope that the next time I go there (reluctantly) I will not have to bring a magnifying glass to see my plate of food. The prices are too high to justify serving an appetizer amount for a main dish. I had lunch and the panini was tasty, but I was finished almost before I started. I found the size of the portions embarrassing and I do not have a huge appetite!
