Need a REALLY GOOD Thai restaurant (not americanized) in Northern Virginia

totally second rec on sakulthai . took my two sons 10 and 12 years old. the green curry is off the charts spicy!! best Thai i've had in a while!

Quick Taco report - TECC & La Placita

visited DC with my two sons this past weekend. rode our bikes all over town. dinner at Mexicana. Beef Burrito was so big and so fresh. Son had the beef quesadillas. chopped steak etc. so good. older boy complained that he likes Chipolte better "because you watch them make the burrito in front of you". c'mon already. my ex-wife's gotta stop letting these kids eat fast food.

Corona Recs?

Agreed. Rincon Criollo is amazing. Fiance and I took our 6 month old baby - so kid friendly. I had the Steak Rincon Criollo and she had the Roast Pork (like butter). Fried plantains were great. Coffee and flan for dessert (hottest coffee I've ever had - we joked that we'd be there all night waiting for it to cool enough to drink - in fact - got a ticket for expired meter when I returned to our car). Agreed - the service was terrific. Good choice for dinner before or after Citifield, zoo (that's where we'd spent the day), hall of science, or Queens Museum... [FYI - they only take Amex - just bring cash]

Zero Otto Nove - Arthur Ave.

Fiance (Danielle) , baby, and I ate here today... fantastic! Short trip from the Botanical Gardens where we went for the Orchid show (crowded but a beautiful day to be outside). Very child friendly. I had rigatoni with mushrooms and meatballs and Danielle had the soft shell crabs. Both were specials and fantastic. Guy behind us had pork chops that looked delicious. Nobody seemed to mind when Danielle nursed the baby. Will definitely go back when we visit the Zoo or the Train Show at Christmas. Want to try the pizza!

Dinner with kids near Brooklyn Botanic?

Had dinner at Cheryl's Global Soul Kitchen on Underhill Road with my brother and my girlfriend. Sat in back where they have a many wrought-iron tables under big shady trees. There were lots of families eating with their kids (outside always seems to be better for kids). Food was fabulous. I had the pork chops with salsa-verde. Bro had the Salmon and girlfriend had the catfish... all were superb. Good luck.

Date Weekend in DC

Just spent an amazing weekend in DC with my girlfriend. We had three nights there and ate at 3 different places recommended by Chowhounders.

Jaleo was terrific. Never ate tapas before (she had). Recommend anything with shrimp. afterwards went across the street for a beer at a brewpub, forget the name. Bartender was a little cranky but the red ale was great (not crazy about the Oatmeal Stout).

Etete was super. When i read reviews i figured, OK, some dishes you eat with your hands, but not every dish. It was a lot of fun. It was a Monday and Queen Makeda was closed but next time we'll try there.

Real nice breakfast at Teaism. Scrambled eggs and lox. Cilantro spiced up the eggs.
