Gennaro's - 665 Amsterdam. Good Italian food. |

Trader Joe's Yea/Nay Thread - January 2013 [OLD] From the new stuff shelf: Almond Bark Thins - delicious. |

Salt leftover from Salt Baking All that flavored (is it?) salt from salt baking a fish or potatoes..has it any use at all. This question is not driven by economic concern but curious to know if I'm throwing away a flavored salt that might have a second life. |

Best Italian restaurant in NYC Gennaro, upper west on Amsterdam at 92-93. |

I'm sure the bouillabaisse is good here, and the location overlooking the sea and the easy parking are all very appealing - but how about 160 euros per person for the experience - and this is the version w/o lobster..for that 200 euros pp. |

Go to Barney Greengrass at Amsterdam, 86-87 and go early. |

Shopsins? |

iconic and not so good - Sammy's Roumanian |

Hudson Bagels on Hudson at Christopher has great whitefish salad - the best in NY from my perspective. And their bagels are different and good and recommended. |

Tight Brits Tucked Near Sutton Place Taksim is a great choice. Panda is inexpensive but only a desperate local would go there. And Angelo's pizza is delicious. |

Ok, the best chips I've ever had - does anyone know where to buy these? The catering department of City Bakery sells these with an edamame dip. |

How long will flour keep in the freezer? I freeze flour, particularly whole wheat. And I keep it a long time, maybe even a year. Flour and nuts and chicken stock dominate my freezer space. |

too late for your movie plan but Grimaldi's in the old Limelight is good, 6th Avenue at 20th. ----- |

I dislike this task, it smells up the kitchen and greases up the stove top. Any good tips? And - how far ahead of assembly can I do this ? I'm making a Saveur recipe with rice and turnips. |

Search for a Manhattan restaurant that serves really good duck, not Chinese and no versions with a cloying fruity finish - just crisp, delicious. |

Chinese in Manhattan for a mixed family- Dilemma! I would go to the Peking Duck House on 53rd between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Comfortable, good service, great duck. ----- |

Recently in Israel I asked what the herb used in zatar I was served. The surprising answer was hyssop. I've never had dried or fresh version, I bought a jar with what I think are tiny sesame seeds. |

Is there any flavor to be gained by pre-soaking white beans - in this case, French Navy Beans - in stock rather than water? I know that the liquid is discarded after the soaking. |

First NYC visit freak out - going to Midtown; need help You should visit the Tenement Museum, lower east side, and around there you will find multi interesting places to eat. |

First NYC visit freak out - going to Midtown; need help You give some terrific advice (except I don't see the charm or reason to be in Times Square). The Oyster Bar for lunch is a very good idea. |

First NYC visit freak out - going to Midtown; need help I like Blue Ribbon Sushi (which has plenty that is not sushi) and that is at 308 W 58, facing the Time Warner building. Also near where you are staying, a Pain Quotidian, always handy for breakfast or lunch, just south of CPS on 7th Avenue. ----- |

Elbows On The Table & Other Bad Habits - A Poll... So many rules and contradictions, each culture has its own traditions - I'm certain the elbows are OK in some cultures that have tables. |

Forget delish and yum-o. And what is gb (no, don't tell me). But EVO, never fails to irritate. |

My choice would be same neighborhood, Broadway at 64th, Fiorello's. You can usually get a spot at the bar which faces an amazing selection of antipasti. ----- |

Suggestions for party of 12-15 Obao on E 53 (2-3rd) ----- OBao |

Ok, so what I did..thinking they were beyond crisping..I chopped them fine and used them as I would any herb. And that was pretty successful and imparted a good peppery flavor to an omelet. |

What to do with a bag of forgotten arugula in the back of the refrigerator? It hasn't turned yellow, just lifeless. |

Late Lunch Penn Station-MidTown to Chelsea? No, I confess I've never been to Uncle Nicks at this location. I had just had a terrible meal someplace else around there and noticed this location. ----- |
