Adding flavor elements to couscous

I add sliced green onions, minced Italian-flat-leaf parsley, small dice of peeled/seeded cucumbers, canned-diced well drained fire roasted tomatoes, toss with a dressing of extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon juice. I sometimes add some diced leftover chicken, sometimes use homemade chicken broth as part of the liquid used for the couscous. Hope you get a lot of good ideas; enjoy your couscous.

The Future of Cookbook Publishing

Electronic cookbooks as opposed to the printed cookbooks can easily be compared to an inflatable doll, it might get be a workable substitute for the real thing, but totally lacks that unique experience and variety.

How Do Lefties Peel Vegetables?

use a kitchen-aid peeler, so no problem. Too many pans with pouring lips on the right side of the pan from the handle, simply do not work for me. Found a manufacturer who makes their pans with a lip around the whole pan rolling toward the out side of the pan. I can both pour from the pan and it does not run down the side of the pan.

Butter = Death?

Am an on again off again butter addict. There are times when I omit the food deserving of a topping of butter and just eat the butter. Can go for weeks with little or no butter than use a cube in one day. If butter is death, well so be it, darn near gave up eating when margarine was my only choice as a child.

UK Kitchen Measuring- Cups, Spoons, Scales

Thanks to all who responded to my search for IMPERIAL measuring spoons. At considerable money (about 3 times what they are worth if you include all the postage) I found what I wanted, purchased it on a very popular WEB service and as I write this I am sure it is on the way.

Best storebought gingersnap cookie? (moved from Home Cooking board)

These Swedish Gingersnaps (Pepparkakor) you described are a favorite of mine to use in some of my Cheesecake Recipes. The crust pairs well with my Lemon-Marscarpone Cheesecake filling and Pumpkin-Walnut filling. At 30 calories for 6 cookies I also use them with my afternoon coffee-cookie break.

UK Kitchen Measuring- Cups, Spoons, Scales

Thank you. I checked and cookshop.com does not have the items I need. I did search further and ended up E-Mailing Salter about where I could buy the exact brand and model I need. I will keep trying.

UK Kitchen Measuring- Cups, Spoons, Scales

Am looking for a way to purchase these items. They will be used (if I ever get my hands on them) for baking recipes found in some old UK based cookbooks I have. I am not interested in converting UK to US. I simply want to open my cupboard, pull out my UK scales, measuring cups and spoons like a UK home cook would do with UK recipes. I have tried in vain to find a UK store that targets UK buyers. Now that I have overused UK, can you provide any information to help me seek out and purchase these items? Note: Amazon.com-UK can not ship these items here due to "geographical restrictions".

Need definition of "dl" as measurement

Thank you. I have accessed the site given and that led me to more sites. Appreciate the help. My next mission is to find and buy UK products lik measuring jugs and measuring spoons, and scales that do not require conversion when using UK originated, un-converted recipes. So far I am hitting a stone wall because of "3rd party" vendors restrictions. Any sources or suggestions on this dilemma?

Need definition of "dl" as measurement

Am new to downloading recipes and am finding that several recipes use dl as an amount in their ingredient list. Still learning to research for answers. Any help either with a direct answer or a search reccomendation will be appreciated. Louisiana Lady
