Last minute "fancy" dinner (corny is okay!)

Happy to report Golden Pheasant was fantastic! The ambiance is lovely - often the farmhouse/old inn vibe can get completely overdone, and that was not at all the case here. We arrived a bit early to have a cocktail and watch the Derby and had two quite well made martinis. Our table was ready when we were, and everyone was very friendly. We had some delicious oysters (definitely recommend the "Holy Grail" variety from the Chesapeake), roasted bone marrow (which my husband then wished he could also get for dessert), and I had a fiddlehead salad. Our server was extremely informed on the food - we inquired about the cheese in salad (nettle jack, from Cherry Grove Farm in NJ) and got a quick tutorial on how exactly one makes a nettle edible! Our entrees were a roasted duck breast and a seared scallop special, both of which were terrific. We opted for wines by the glass and had a pleasantly wide variety to choose from, as well as the delightful addition of complimentary sparkling wine when the staff noticed we were celebrating. Overall, a great experience and we'll go back. Thanks again, Chowhounders!

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! Super helpful. We narrowed it down to Golden Pheasant and Le Cheri - ended up picking Golden Pheasant, tonight. Definitely have a new go-to list for future nights out, though, thanks to you all!

So all of the sudden it's our anniversary. We were thinking it would be fun to get dressed up, like actually dressed up and go out for dinner. Nobody seems to dress for dinner anymore. (No, I'm not 74...just nostalgic.) It doesn't have to be the most exclusive place - just someplace that still appreciates the art of the nice dinner out, if that makes sense. It's this weekend - Saturday or Sunday, depending on where we end up. Any ideas?? We're up in Bucks/MontCo area but can go anywhere.

Rehearsal dinner in Lansdale vicinity?

Hi all,

I'm trying to plan a rehearsal dinner from afar (currently living in the PacNW) and am rusty on my options within 20 minutes of Lansdale's Main Street. We're looking at about 50 people. I'm currently considering Dettera in Ambler - website & menu look promising and it's about a 15 minute drive - but am seeing some hesitation on these boards. Everything looks like it's from a little while back, though -- has anyone been in recently, or better yet had a private event there? Thanks!
