One day only...
Unfortunately I have only 1 day in Seattle where I can eat what I want. I was last here in 2006 or 2007 when I ate at Lark, The Harvest Vine, Cafe Juanita, and the now closed restaurants Lampreia and Mistral Restaurant. All meals were excellent. I also remember great baked goods from Macrina Bakery. I'm coming back for a couple of days but I'm only free to eat where I want on a Saturday with breakfast, lunch and dinner open and then maybe a breakfast on Sunday.
This is the list I am working with for this brief trip:
Sitka and Spruce
Art of the Table
Spinasse
The Walrus and the Carpenter
Café Besalu
Salumi Cured Meats
Paseo
How would you recommend I do up this super brief trip. I dont mind taking a cab or even renting a car for the trip. Price doesn't matter. I'm I've not seeking a particular experience. I just want great food of whatever cuisine.
Thanks for the input.

Spring peas and ramps in SE MI {DTW}
there were ramps and fiddlehead ferns at plum market a few days ago. not sure about the pricing.
New: John D’s “American Bistro” - coolness and value in Ferndale [DTW]
Went recently. Unfortunately they were out of the beer my GF wanted and they were unable to make the PBJ due to a delivery issue. In the end it wasn't a big deal.
First we had breaded calamari sitting in a bowl of tomato and pepper cream sauce. Flavors were good. The breading was definitely lacking in crispness. Next were the chicken pops with blue cheese and bbq sauce. Tasty. Comes as 6 meaty pops. Quite a large portion considering it's a "small plate." Then duck sliders. Came as a pair. Pretty large, essentially beyond the size one would expect for a slider but hey, it's more food! The pulled duck was tender and moist. I felt the breading was just barely standing up to the meat in the sense that it was on the verge of getting too soaked. Last was the baked gnocchi with roasted tomato and mozzarella. Well balanced and enjoyable. The basil added a touch of freshness. The gnocchi themselves were soft but not quite pillowy.
I sensed a theme for our meal: The flavors were quite nice. Everything tasted at least good to very good. Execution was just not perfect, particularly when it came to textures.
Concretes? [DTW]
A concrete to me is a frozen custard blended at high speed with mix-ins like bananas, shortbread cookie, etc.
I'm aware there are a number of frozen custard places in southeastern Michigan, particularly in my neck of the woods in Oakland county.
Do any of these places make concretes? If so, who makes 'em best?

Please comment on my dining list for my 5-day trip to SD
Yeah I had that same concern.
[DTW] Monty's Grille - Royal Oak
I've been a few times. I'm a fan of the hash and the Joseph Campau.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I've shuffled the list quite a bit. It's looking more like this:
Dinner
-Addison
-Kaito Sushi
Sushi Ota
Hane Sushi
George’s California Modern
Kitchen 1540
Café Chloe
Cowboy Star
Super Cocina
Market Restaurant Del Mar
Nine-ten
Wisknladle
Solace and the Moonlight Lounge
Cucina Urbana
Alforon
Breakfast/Brunch
Coffee Cup
Snooze
Urban Solace
Café 21
I think what I'm going to do is Addison, Kaito Sushi, Cafe Chloe, Cowboy Star and Super Cocina. It seems like its a decent mix of high end dining, casual comfortable, and a local favorite. And some of the places are close by while some others will require a drive.

Thank you for your very detailed reply. We do want to try whatever SD does best and we figured we should hit up some Mexican places. Unfortunately we will not be having lunch out as we will be busy on conferences. I figured those kinds of meals are best for lunch. Is there a great regional place we shouldn't miss that we could try for dinner?

Yeah we r gonna skip Phil's. We were recently in Texas and Georgia as well and we enjoyed some very good BBQ already. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm from NYC (though I've been living in Michigan for the past 9 months.) I'd like to get in 1 or 2 meals of high end fine dining, and the rest being more comfortable and casual places though with the flavor balance and execution to satisfy a discerning palate.

Never been to SD. From reviewing different sources I came up with the following list of places to try. The ones with the dash marks seemed like the "best" places, places I probably shouldn't miss but in truth I have no idea. I'll be staying near the Marina/Gaslamp area but I will likely have a car. I'd appreciate your comments.

Briefly in Atlanta... Looking for a Saturday Breakfast and Lunch
Gonna be in Atlanta tomorrow. Will have time for breakfast and maybe a late lunch. I looked up breakfast/ brunch places. Came up with : Murphy's, Highland Bakery, Ria's Bluebird, Urban pl8. Lunch I really have no idea. We will be in Buckhead but with car if needed. Where should we go? Thanks!
Chung Ki Wa Korean & Sushi - Sterling Hts (DTW)
i went back tonight and ordered fairly similar items to my previous visits only this time the place was packed and the quality of the kalbi was not as good. definitely tougher. the japchae was good. i'd still go back again.
DTW - Crispelli's, Berkley
i've been as well. shared a large thin crust with tomato sauce, mozz, sausage and caramelized onions. it was quite good. i think i may prefer tomatoes apizza but the pie we had was definitely solid. better than most pizza i've had since the move out here. good char. the sauce was a bit on the sweet side and they were pretty heavy handed with the sauce but it was good nonetheless. the layout of the place was a bit strange. essentially like a market rather than a restaurant. i can see the place getting very busy.
Chung Ki Wa Korean & Sushi - Sterling Hts (DTW)
Been twice. Ive enjoyed the chadol baki, samgyeopsal and marinated galbi. Definately the best korean bbq i've had since moving out here. Though keep in mind i've only been to a few places so far.
Hello: I'm moving to B'ham Michigan and need Chinese food recommendations

Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
Yea. We went to Smoke the first night. Everything was very good. We particularly enjoyed "The Big Rib" and the key lime pie was refreshing. We got a walk in spot at the bar at Lucia last night. Also a great meal. In my opinion the highlight was the gnudi. I went to Scardello today and had some cheeses. Tonight I have reservations at The Mansion but I'm having second thoughts.
Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
so far been to smoke for dinner, the food trucks over by the museum of art, lucia for dinner. was thinking pho colonial for lunch since i'm close to that or trekking over to scardello. tonight i have reservations at the mansion. i'm outta here tomorrow morning.
Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
Oh nice. The Rolf Beeler appenzeller is excellent.
Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
Do u have any sandwich recommendations from there?
Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
I think I should add Scardello as a possible lunch option. Their sandwiches sound good and I'm always up for browsing a cheese shop.
Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
Wow thanks for the heads up on Lucia. I just called and they are booked through the end of February. I put my name on a waitlist for the Wednesday in February that I'll be in Dallas. Ouch. Well then again I can always find an excellent Italian meal in NYC.
Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
Actually I meant to list El Tizoncito as well. Thanks for your suggestions. Also I should mention I will be there on a Mon-Tues-Wed.
Upcoming trip...decisions, decisions
Im coming from NYC to Dallas for three full days and I've generated a list of possible eats. I'll probably rent a car. I'm open to suggestions. In particular I'm looking to narrow down my dinner options. I'm thinking Tei-An and Smoke for two of the three nights. The third I was thinking a fine dining choice. Here's the list:
Dinner:
Stephan Pyles
The Mansion Restaurant
Abacus
The French Room
Fearing’s
Local
Lucia
Nonna
Tei-An
Samar
Smoke
Teppo
Lunch:
Nammi food truck
Nam Hua
Taqueria El Si Hay
Wingfield's
Breakfast:
Bread Winners Uptown
Why aren't we talking about Biercamp in A2? [Ann Arbor, MI]
im certainly no bratwurst expert but their pre-packed refridgerated brats were great when i brought them home and cooked them up.
1or8 is def a top Brooklyn resto, pricey end
I would say he was there in jewel bako's heyday. My GF and I love 1or8. The omakase is what we do. Kazuo is great to chat with. I love their blog pics.

the right places to go in chicago?
Sprout's brunch seems good although this is only based on one meal. From a very small sample size of items i prefered the savory over the sweet. The skirt steak n eggs dish was very good. Their "lithuanian bacon buns" I did not find special. They were like a mediocre cha siu bao. The vanilla butter they were served was more flavorful than the bun itself.
Looking for suggestions planning Chicago food tour
I just had breakfast at Jam. I enjoyed the one item i tried, a malted custard french toast with citrus cream. There was a fruit compote hinted with suble flavor notes from pink peppercorn. Honestly I think the french toast is even better standing alone or scraped with a layer of citrus cream. As for pastry I also just went to Floriole. Had a delicious sticky bun there as well as a very enjoyable blueberrry brown butter gallette. I recommend a visit. Sitting out on their sidewalk seating area enjoying some morning pastry was a treat.
