Art Smith: "I made this once for Barack and Michelle, while celebrating Bono's birthday at Oprah's mansion. It was so delicious, Brangelina and the Dalai Lama asked me for the recipe. PS. I'm friends with Will Smith"

I'm being gifted expired food.
You guys have it all wrong, he's sending you a message like the fish in The Godfather. He's telling you " you may be past your prime, but I'd still tap that". It's a compliment.

5 new food trucks for this summer
Food trucks that can only sell at festivals. Montreal fail.
Spiciest Vegetarian Meal in the City?/Roti
Get the eggplant dish at Bangkok in the Faubourg and ask for 4 Xs.
Help!! I bought a huge tub of cashews. Way to salty. Recipes please.
Make a cashew pesto but omit the salt and Parmesan.
America's 25 most hated foods
I didn't know people drank buttermilk either until I saw that FBI agent on Boardwalk empire order a glass of it with his steak dinner.
Indian in Montreal.
Just a heads up. Curry and Naan changed owners and is now called Chand Palace. I don't know if they kept the old chefs but judging from the food I ordered recently, I think they got new cooks. Portions appear smaller, and everything tasted saltier IMO. Too bad, I really liked that place, I guess it's back to Bombay Mahal for me. If anyone wants their new menu I can upload it.
Best canned sardines?
What is your favorite brand of canned sardines and where can I find them in Montreal. I'm tired of the Tousain sardines I usually buy.
thanks.
Olivier Potier - New amazing pastry shop and bakery
Bought 2 baguettes, 4 pastries and 2 croissants. Total came to 36$ with tax. Baguettes and croissants were fine but nothing spectacular.
Pastries were delicious and skillfully made. I got the chocolate eclair, the Paris-Breast, The lemon ball thing(meringue, lemon curd, marzipan on a buttery crust) and the St-Honore(which has lemon curd and a vanilla bean chantilly). My 2 favorites were the Paris-Brest and the eclair(eclair was really amazing).
Hot Horseradish
Sounds good but will the taste conflict with sandwiches or European style sausages?
Hot Horseradish
Slightly OT but does anyone know a really hot brand of mustard and where to buy it? I want something that really hits you in the nose, "Maille hot" is soooo weak. Thanks.
Chuck's day off episode "the spice guys" where are they?
I believe the spice shop was "Les douceurs du marche" in the Atwater market.
Top Chef Favorite Challenges
-Tag team cooking skills challenge(Good times with Casey and the infamous onions).
-Famous dish replication challenge(think it was Hung's season where the contestants had to replicate a potato encrusted halibut dish from Le Cirque)
-Offal or exotic ingredients challenges.
-There was one challenge where they had to last as long as possible on the line in Hubert Keller's kitchen during rush hour. That was a lot of fun to watch(think it was Lee Anne's season).
Where can I find non-Spanish Mackerel?
I think it's called King mackerel with a firmer flesh. I used to be able to get some at Reine de la Mer but now all I see is Spanish Mackerel around town.
Thanks in advance.
YOU GOTTA EAT HERE on the Food Network
The host tries even harder than Fiery if that's even humanly possible.
Alan Richman visits Montreal
For some reason I thought it was the guy from Man vs Food.
Layover Montreal
I think she has a show on Evasion or something where she eats at 3 restaurants with a celebrity guest every episode and the rates them.
Favorite Asian Sauce Disappearance & Strange Grocery Mystery
Yeah I used it for Hotpots.
Can I substitute Sour cream with Fromage frais?
I'm doing a recipe that calls for sour cream or creme fraiche incorporated in the whipped cream. I have a tub of fromage frais in my fridge, can I use it instead ?
thanks in advance.
Favorite Asian Sauce Disappearance & Strange Grocery Mystery
Yeah I think the sauce you are referring to is Satay. I used to buy in the same packaging you described here in Montreal but 3-4 years ago they stopped producing it. Never bothered to ask why as there are many substitutes in most Asian grocery stores.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #6 - 12/07/11 (Spoilers)
If you talking about the sauce challenge, the goal was to make a new sauce that stems from the mother sauce. Paul infused his with ginger and lemongrass and ended up in the top 3. I don't understand why you would have a problem with Beverly and not Paul.
Top Chef Texas - Ep. #6 - 12/07/11 (Spoilers)
Every season someone bitches about a contestant only cooking Asian food. So what? Asian food is so broad and encompasses so many different cuisines, tastes, flavors and techniques. Why is it, if a chef cooks French, Italian and Spanish dishes he is considered versatile and yet if another cooks Japanese, Thai and Chinese he's a one trick pony?
