Looking for Duck Confit and Old-School Atmosphere in Montreal..

For old-school ambiance and good cocktails I recommend Taverne Square Dominion (http://www.tavernedominion.com) downtown. Duck confit is their Thursday special on their daytime menu (until 4:30, but if you call ahead they might be able to put some aside for you if you want it at dinnertime).

Montreal breakfast

I like P'tit Cochon Santé (http://cochonsante.com/ 4293 Notre-Dame west), especially the buckwheat crepes with ham, brie and apple. It comes with an egg and greens with a zesty vinaigrette.

Expanding Montreal’s Third Wave Coffee Scene

I would put Café Shaika (5526 Sherbrooke Street West in NDG a little west of Decarie) in the same category as Café 92°.
