Charlie Palmer Steak Cut of the Week--A Simply Superb Steal

I do the cut often .. and only got cut off on the unlimited wine once but it was my birthday . Its always a nice time .. and the wine is always paired nicely. It definitely pays to make sure you check out the menu before hand.

Best Indian restaurant?

MOzen at Mandarin Oriental if you are on the strip and have a good sized wallet is fabulous. . If you are willing to go divey and local I love Mt Everest .. its in an old Burger King about 2 miles away from the strip and the food is delicious.

Origin India is just ok imho. it is fancified indian food in a strip mall.. for the money and the portions I was not impressed. If you are going to spend that kind of money for indian get the nice view and fabulous service at MOzen. and then go upstairs for an amazing view and a 18.00 drink at the Sky Bar.

San Francisco hounds four nights in May thoughts appreciated on the following itinerary....

One more thing .. I see you are from San Fran. No asian food in this town is going to blow your socks off like Slanted Door in your town...Im just saying :) I loved it.

San Francisco hounds four nights in May thoughts appreciated on the following itinerary....

Well if you are going to DCR for drinks which I like why don't you go for a walk down freemont and go to firefly at the plaza. Same restaurant, same food, nicer restaurant EXCEPT that you have to walk through the icky Plaza. You are going to hear different stuff on firefly, Its ok ...some dishes are way better than others.

Olives is ok for lunch (nothing special)..for dinner it was a trainwreck. And if its pretty out it's worth waiting for the patio.

Mon Ami is just ok nothing that is going to blow your socks off but it is reasonably priced and I have had some decent meals. but nothing real foodie about it ..again great patio but you can't get a reservation for it...you have to wait.

I am sure the blow your socks off meal for you is Joel Robuchon .

As far as Little Buddah....I like it and its a pretty place ... AND you guys are 30 and the Palm definitely has a scene. Again the food is ok nothing special and its a place with a young vibe so as far as a change up it might be good. Although I have to say i would hit my change up by going to N9Ne at the Palms for steak exploring the Palms and skipping Mon Ami.

Also I like Lotus a lot and if you want to go foodie Asian its the way to go. But if you want a fun vibe and good asian you might try Social House...I have heard excellent things about it from people I trust (although your bill will be 4 times what it will be at Lotus of Siam but you are paying for the scene)

HELP!!! GROUP DINNER FOR 24 MEN!!!

If Stripsteak can't accommodate you at that price point you might want to think about Bordergrill. They have met my pricepoint in the past and I believe I was able to swing some pitchers of Sangria with that. They have seperate rooms and a great patio. We sat 20 on the patio in May and it was great. And then you are at Mandalay Bay which is always fun.

Tao or Social House might be cool if you are looking for the non steak hip place.

Las Vegas Happy Hour!!!

Happy Hours that I like and attend pretty regularly are Cafe Ba Ba Ree Ba (1/2 price pitchers of sangria nd 3.00 tapas -- although the tapas tend to be smaller than the regular portions its still a good value). I also like Gordon Biersch and Kona -- both are good values. I' m also a big fan of Open Bar which you can find details on at Spy on Vegas website -- every work day from i think 6 to 9 or 7 to 10 free drinks with the signature alcochol-- thats for strictly a liquid happy hour though. .. all you have to do is tip the drinks are free.

Group Dinner Rec in Las Vegas?

Border Grill at the Mandalay is good and you could definitely get out of there for 50.00 a person. I have issues with the Burger Bar which I will keep to myself because I get slammed everytime I mention them ..but suffice it to say it wouldnt be my choice.

Las Vegas question

Things gear back up for New years so I am not sure it will be that easy ...but it has been empty. YOu might not get a 7 or 8 seating but Im betting you could get something.

I haven't eaten there myself but my boss who is a complete foodie raves about it. I trust her judgement ..will definitely try it out

Mandalay Bay Recs?

See I am going to get beat up for saying this but I think the Burger Bar is completely over rated. They do have great sweet potato fries and fried zuchini but I think their burgers are pretty average -- I always feel when I go there I have to pile a bunch of crap on it to make it taste good ...not a good sign.

Summer Prix Fixe Menus in Las Vegas?

I went last week to the summer tasting at Craft. It was delicious and plenty of food. The only thing you need to realize is that everyone at the table has to get it..its served family style (so you all have to agree). It wasnt a problem for us -- we knew that coming in. All of the MGM tasting menus can be found on the MGM website. Hard to beat the 60.00 a person and the wine pairings were lovely too for an additional 30. Nobhill is also a great deal as you would normally never get away for that kind of price for a three course meail there although I like other things on their menu better and I would probably pay for it.

Vegas - Strip Malls and Trendy Scenes

OH yeah one more thing -- they serve the dumplings with a red sauce which is good and flavorful but I prefer the green sauce -- you just have to ask for it. They call them Momo's and I always get the entree portion for the table because they go fast. I prefer the turkey ones.

Vegas - Strip Malls and Trendy Scenes

Oops -- yup flamingo. Sorry it was Monday...forgive me. Go you will like it. They recently changed their menu a bit but they dumplings are still on it. THeir Pag Saneer(i know I spelled that wrong but its the yummy creamy spinach stuff) is great and they used to have this sizzling tandori dish that was like indian fajitas that I loved. But I dream about the dumplings :)

Vegas - Strip Malls and Trendy Scenes

I really like the Himalayan restaurant on Sahara between Maryland and Paradise. Off the beaten path, definitely ethnic and reasonable. No reservations necessary. Not the fanciest of places but the people are nice and the food is good. I love the steamed turkey dumplings with the green cilantro mint sauce. The food is from Nepal but it definitely has some inidan influences as well...although there is a lot of meat.

Best restaurant for a date in Vegas

Ahh but what about a room with a view....

I concur Nobhill's Booths are great. Rosemary's is great for food eh on the romantic factor.

Now I know the food isnt the best but you can't beat the romantic view at Mix.

Chow worthy spots near Hilton in Las Vegas

I really enjoy firefly and dragonfly I hear is good as well. As Far as Hoffbrohoaus..save your money and your eardrums..Its loud, bad food and sometimes its frat house city. And as far as fast not so fancy eats I really enjoy the coffee shop at the Hard Rock Lucky's they have the best veggie burger in town. and gordon biersch has some good beer and great sweet chili wings.

Envy Steakhouse LV - any good?

I really enjoyed it..but it wasn't the best I have had in vegas. Craft still is at the top of my list. Its definitely worth it for the coupon. We had a great experience but we went on a thursday and had a late reservation and were the last table to leave...the server brought over extra wine and made special desserts for us that were on a tasting menu they were promoting for a charity event that I saw and commented on. Anyway it could have been the night but for the coupon it was a reasonable evening and solid.

olives at the bellagio (Las Vegas)

I didn't like olives for dinner either..found it mediocre at best but for lunch I enjoyed it. At Bellagio for lunch though I really enjoyed Sensei and I would pick that over olives unless you have your heart set on dining outside

Vegas dinner entree $15-30

uhhh McDonalds? Ok seriously Border Grill is good at Mandalay and the chips and green salsa are so good you don't need appetizers. When you leave out italian and asian its hard all you are probably going to get from me is mexican suggestions and thats my top one. You could hit the chains that exist on the strip but the question is do you really want to? I mean you could slum it and do Ellis Island BBQ, 7.77 special at the Hard Rock Coffee Shop for steak and shrimp that you have to ask for etc. If you want a nice meal outside the asian, italian and chain route on the strip your going to have to fork over some cash.

Good Pizza in Vegas... does it exist?

As a queens girl like the other native I agree with Villa Pizza...the one on Sahara and Valley View is great and if I close my eyes I can pretend I am eating at A&J on Austin Street ...but I always ask for extra crispy crust. I also like Roccos but I haven't been there since I moved from Summerlin.

The Return Of......My Upcoming Las Vegas Vacation

I really don't think you will have a problem at BB at 12 am . If you have a car there are options like Joyful House which I think is open till 2:00 am. And then there is firefly which is definitely open late...somehow though I get the feeling you might not like firefly so much...its nothing great or high end but I like it for tapas and sangria and its hopping way into the evening. . You could definitely go old school at the peppermill but hell thats like going to the Flaship Diner in queens for food -- I love it but you could get it on Long Island ( I am a queens transplant in Vegas btw)

The Return Of......My Upcoming Las Vegas Vacation

I have to agree the scene at N9NE is fun -- especially when there are people in many many inappropriate outfits. But its not for the stuffy. I would like to try the new Simon's at the Palms tower -- I liked the atmosphere of the old one at Hard Rock but the food there wasn't over the top just fun, varied and solid. There are other options at Mandalay Bay if your staying there -- Border Grill is always good and solid and not that expensive. Honestly I would never go out of my way for Burger Bar --- I am not saying its awful but I really don't get the hype on the boards about it. I have had a better tasting burger at a chain.

The Return Of......My Upcoming Las Vegas Vacation

I really enjoyed N9Ne (craft still being my favorite in town) but I read a review of CUT yesterday on here and it made my mouth water so I say try that. I am with you on LOS one of my faves but I am definitely in the minority on the Burger Bar. I don't like their burgers at all and find it overated. I am a burger purist ..If I have to put a lot of crap on my burger to make it taste good then I just dont want it. I have tried all their offerings including the turkey and veggie options (and I am a meat girl) and nothing. I agree with the guy who said they have great sweet potato fries though. (and as a side note because last time I voiced my opinion about the Burger Bar I got slammed and was asked why do you keep going back -- I have gone there often because it is a cheap convenient option when going to a concert at Mandalay and my friends pick it a lot not because of the food but because of the cute bartender and the sweet potato fries )

Louis's Fish Camp (Las Vegas)

See I didn't like my experience there. It was empty but the service was horrible. We actually went to the bar for a drink because the waiter ignored us . The food was ok -- in my opinion my dish was really salty and I am not one of those anti salt people. Maybe I went early prior to them getting all the kinks out...but honestly I dont feel a need to go back there anytime soon.
