TOP VEGETARIAN - VEGAN - RAW FOOD IN MIAMI/SOFLO

I am just getting my feet wet in this genre of food and could really use your help. So far I have the following to report.

1. Miami Juice
2. Granny Feelgoods
3. Thrive

What else U got MIA?

Restaurant Crawl Advice

Ocean Drive and/or Lincoln Road South Beach

BLT
NEWS CAFE
JOE'S STONE CRABS
SMITH & WOLLENSKY
ROSINELLA
PAUL
SUSHI SAMBA
LARIO'S
FRONT PORCH CAFE
PRIME 112
NIKKI BEACH

Are all decent options.

U may want to move the car if you plan to venture to Joe's which is a Miami Beach institution. Also very close to Joe's is Prime 112 Nikki Beach Club and S&W which is on the Water with outside seating. DO NOT miss Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive (5-15TH Streets) in SOUTH BEACH!

Thanks! Those are 4 good enterprises to have at an awesome venue.

Joe's Stone Crab Question

I ate 34 at Trulucks Brickell AYCA///they were impressed! They had told me large, and most were. 69$

Favorites at Dona Raquel?

nIIIce!!! I could use a change up pitch over there...thanks. That friggin Mole is soo good...yes please!

Favorites at Dona Raquel?

Yes Mole and Pozole every weekend at Dona Raquels. Just wish they'd throw in the breast. They had Mole Verde too which I've never tried, but after several satisfying salsa verdes there, I just may have to give it a whirl one day. Pozole is a pysco stew which you can check out upon entering. Ask to see what's cooking in those holding pans directly in front of the kitchen, that's what I do, if I like how something looks I just point, otherwise I order off the menu, or go to Calypso, Jacks, the other Mexy joint in the market around the corner, or Philomenas. That area is a goldmine for foodies like us.

Wow that burger sounds awesome! That is a good question brought to you by The Frodnesor...they must precook the bacon? Anyway it sounds divine.

Lotta Luv for La Camaronera Minuta. I can remember standing in their joint 20 years ago mackin those Minutas shoulder to shoulder with my compadres cubanos. Thank GOD they went mobile!

I just saw a Venezuelan Truck on the street now called Chamos. These trucks are coming out of the wood works! Separating the wheat from the shaft is our mission on this thread. We need all hands on deck for this blossoming segment of the foodie frontier.

Recent trip to Miami

Nice rundown...I'm starving now!

Where are the best burger joints in Miami (possibly South Beach)?

Or try "Beat the Clock" at Spris Pizzaria or Tiramesu for an amazing pasta first. Order at 5:30pm pay just $5.30, 6pm just 6 bucks! You must order b4 6:45. Their Carbonara is richer than The Donald. Served table side out of a Bowl, you and your bro can mix and match the 3 or four pastas offered, or you can also order from Spris Pizza for the same deal since they're owned by the same group and only two doors down right on Lincoln. Pizza and a Pasta followed by your Burger feast after the show. Burger and Beer Joint Burgers are the best on the beach IMHO, but the 5N option is so close to the Fillmore and offers optimal people watching. Google 5 Napkin Burgers for more info, it has a bad rap here, but it's shows up pretty solid elsewhere. Welcome to MYami...or back anyway!

nyc'er coming to miami for one night

OMG thank U Jon, I am lmao! I completely concur!

Next time U got a one day layover in the MIA from the NYC, do this:

1. Front Porch or News Cafe for Breakfast
2. Zuma or Garcia's for Lunch both are on the Miami River, Fancy vs Rustic Asian vs Cuban Seafood.
3. Joe's for Dinner U gotta get inside those majestic walls...get there early or late, or be prepared to stalk a menu boy with a 20/50 or a hundo, or to wait an hour or two. Or since you already kinda got the Joe's experience now, GO2: CVI.CHE 105...nIIIce!!!

Thanks Dan! I've been to Sakaya and it's good. What do U recommend at the Rolling Stove?

TOP NY Capital Region-Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, Troy

Roger that Roger! I am salivating down here in South Beach!!! Both places are now on my hit list upon my return thanks be to you. Good rundown on a great foodie weekend. Thanks for the post!

Where are the best burger joints in Miami (possibly South Beach)?

Oh yeah and BTW, I could've and should've sent my 5N Burger back for being over cooked, but it was late and I was lazy, furthermore they were still relatively new in town at the time so by now ALL their kinks should be worked out.

Where are the best burger joints in Miami (possibly South Beach)?

"Dazzle him with an incredible burger"...as good as quick serve Shake Shack maybe, it does NOT live up to that quote, sorry. And it's more like 7 or 8 blocks away, where as 5N is across the street from the venue. And the people watching ON Lincoln Rd is far superior to being out in Right Field over there on Lennox Ave. ++it shouldn't be long b4 even ole O-town has it's very own Shake Shack. My vote for BBVLOU & BRO is and remains 5 Napkins Burger...Let us know Luigi! Bonburgerapettite...

Where did everyone go for Happy St. Valentines?!!?

Thanks FDUUUUDE, That's what I'm talking about! I dunno how I suckered myself into a VDAY outing, it is so unlike me...I guess I felt bad for abandoning my Significant Other all weekend due to a friend's visit. It worked out, I have to admit, purrrfectly! I show up at one of the Top Italian Restos in SOBE without a reservation, get my pick of three 2 tops, along with stellar service and cuisine...not bad if we don't count the 2 bills I dropped! At Osteria you will pay, but chances are very good you will be glad to have done so.

Where are the best burger joints in Miami (possibly South Beach)?

SS is fast food (quick serve)! 5 Napkins is not, it's sit down casual dining. The value proposition may be better at SS, but the people watching is NOT, in fact I do not think you can actually call that Lincoln Rd, it is OFF the pedestrian mall albeit by a +/-100 yards. And SS is WAY further from the Fillmore. Plus SS has a weird odor about it. My Burger at 5N was admittedly over cooked but aside from that, it was fine. Don't get me wrong, as a local in need of a quick burger I'd still go to SS (due to ease of access and sheer transaction speed), but 5N seems to fit BBVL's request to a tee. Were my bro and I doing a show at the Fillmore and in need of some quality time and a burger, I'd head to 5N. BTW, their Sushi was pretty good too when I tried it a few months back. As for the stars on Google or any other site for that matter, I've found that they do lend credence, especially in areas where CH threads are lacking e.g. Boca.

Where are the best burger joints in Miami (possibly South Beach)?

5 Napkin Burgers on Lincoln Road (SOBE) is your closest and best option if going to the Fillmore. It's literally a two minute walk from the theater and you will have the best people watching in South Beach along with some of the best burgers to come out of NYC. And if you get there early, or late, they have a slider Happy Hour. Burger n Beer Joint may be a little better, but it's location is by far inferior. Grab a cafe table on Lincoln and have at it!

There were a lot of new ones at the 2nd Saturday Wynwood Artwalk! nacho Mamma's & Nacho Bizness come to mind...I saw Greek, Argentine, Italian, Pardos Peruvian...it's endless. Which are the good ones??

Where did everyone go for Happy St. Valentines?!!?

Osteria del Teatro in South Beach did the trick for us again after many moons. Lucked into a table and the cuisine, service and ambiance were just as I remembered. We went with our old standbys for entrees: Black Ink Raviolis in a Lobster Cream Sauce + my favorite Osso Bucco with a Risotto Milanese...nIIIce!!! How about you, any standouts this year? Truthfully, I rarely go out on St Valentines Day due to gauging, poor service and mediocre menus, however Osteria is still bringing their A game after ? years. Our waiter has been there for 25 years so at least that long now. Come on I want all your gory and good details! and btw...HAPPY SAINT VALENTINE'S DAY 2 U & yours albeit an hour late!

There were so many new ones at the 2nd Saturdays Wynwood Artwalk in Miami it's hard to keep track of them all now. Nacho Bizness & Nacho Mama's come to mind...mind U I tried neither!

TOP MEXICAN IN FLA

You'd be surprised how many I see at Dona Raquel's now and it's definitely a tribute to this thread on chowhound and the cyber grapevine which led to TV coverage. DR's has a bonafide restaurant attached to the butcher/bodega. Man we could really use a place like that in central Dade County. Calling all Raza!

Actually, I just ran across a little tiny Taco shop in Coconut Grove, has any one tried it yet? The menu looked good.

TOP ITALIAN IN FLA

Once again and after a very long hiatus, Osteria del Teatro South Beach came to our rescue! Dropped in on St Valentine's at 9:24pm without a reservation and was offered my choice of 3 two tops...the other two were quickly filled. Ordered a bottle of Prosecco, and a Fois gras with oyster mushrooms&raspberries(the raz/fg combo is fab). The Black Ink Raviolis in a Lobster Cream sauce is still scrumptious as is the Osso Bucco with Risotto Milanese. And that flour-less choco loco cake is sin worthy! It had been a long time coming...I was glad to see things have remained the same. Service is still pretty stellar and there are a plethora of specials. They brought out some prawns the size of my forearms! Love the fishbowl vibe there, a nice flashback in this thing we call "La Vida". Happy Saint Valentines Day to you and yours!

OMG I saw the sign when I was there in OCT '11. My good buddy owns the Abbey Brewing Company in South Beach which is why it caught my eye. I will definitely check it out...and I am due for a trip soon! Anything else new, or coming soon to the area?
