Brewdog plans five US bars and brewery

" it will be a banner day for brewing when more focus is placed on the _quality_ of beer rather than the size of the brewery producing it."

Well said!

Summer of Shandy?

Agree with this, the Stiegl Radler in particular is quite enjoyable...

IMO, yes. For comparison, Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams) has two breweries and 1300 employees.

Lunch between Nashville and Lebanon off of 40E

Not only have they added a lot in the last few years around the Providence Place development, but I think your memory is playing tricks on you regarding the tiki place. It sounds like you are describing Omni Hut in Smyrna (just SE of LaVerne), but nowhere near I-40E (it's off I-24E) unless you're really taking the long way around. ;)

Lunch between Nashville and Lebanon off of 40E

There are several good places off the Providence Place exit in Mt. Juliet. Martin's BBQ, Kavanaugh's Irish Pub, and Cori's DogHouse would top my list.

Can you confirm that they do boil them before baking to get the consistency right? I assume that is what they mean by the phrase "old fashioned new york water bagels" on their website...

Recommendations at/near the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville?

Well, McNamara's is actually between the airport and Gaylord, so it would be on the way anyway. Depending on where you are located, Irish pub fare may or may not be appealing. It is a good version of it for Nashville, but I wouldn't bother if you are from an area with good examples.

Another option would be to swing by Monell's at the Manor on Murfreesboro Road near the airport if Southern, family-style, communal table feasting is more what you have in mind. Would not be a super-fast option, but I think you could swing it and the food is good when fresh, albeit heavy.

Recommendations at/near the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville?

If I were you, I would grab a cab to McNamara's Irish Pub for some Fish & Chips, live music and a pint of guinness. Very nice place, good folks and family friendly.

Another alternative would be Jack's barbecue on West Trinity Lane.

About a 5 mile ride to either.

If you just can't get that far away from the clutches of Gaylord, you might give Aquarium a try, especially with kids. Not exactly a value, but the food is better than you would think for the kind of place it is.

Where to eat off I-75 Southbound

I doubt the OP really wants to go from Louisville to Myrtle Beach by way of Chattanooga anyway, FWIW. I've eaten at the City Cafe Diner and while good, I certainly wouldn't consider it worthy of a detour of that magnitude...

Good to know about Hot Bagel, will have to check that out next time I'm in Oak Ridge!

Where to eat off I-75 Southbound

Well, since no one else appears eager to take this I will recommend Tomato Head, which my wife and I have hit a couple of times recently and think is quite good (either location, though we prefer the downtown spot slightly). I also still have a soft place for Litton's, but I haven't been in years and am not certain that it is as good these days as it is in my memory...

Good luck!

Best Steak in Nashville?

Lots of good steak around. Pete k's suggestions are excellent. I would add The Southern Steak & Oyster to his list. Of course, there are also the big chain options (Palm, Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Fleming's) that you have in many other citys, as well as a smaller chain (Stoney River) that is pretty good. There are also some old-line options (Jimmy Kelly's, Sperry's, Stockyard) that you may be tempted by. While Jimmy Kelly's and Sperry's have some merit, the Stockyard does not. If price were no object, I would go with Kayne Prime.

For me, though, the real answer to that question is "whatever they cut for me at Porter Road Butcher"...

Christmas Day Lunch/Brunch in Nashville 2014

Your best bet will be hotel restaurants, such as Capitol Grille, Mason's, 1808 Grille, Park 25 Bistro, or Kitchen Notes.

OpenTable is also showing lunchtime openings for Mack & Kates and Ruth's Chris.

Boba (bubble) Milk Tea in Salt Lake City

While not exactly boba tea, Ho Mei BBQ has Hong Kong-style milk tea on their menu (both hot and cold versions) that are quite good.

Latest Salt Lake City Recommendations

FWIW, I liked Dim Sum House as well as New Golden Dragon, but I've only been once (whereas, I've been to New Golden Dragon several times). IIRC, the chefs who opened DSH left No do so. I also liked Cafe Ahn Hong, but I think it is a small step down from the other two. I did not much care for Hong Kong Tea House and I have not been to Red Maple (yet).

Latest Salt Lake City Recommendations

I'm quite partial to the following:

Takashi. Sit at the sushi bar and have them do you an off-the-cuff omakase. I've always had a good meal there this way.

Settebello. Excellent neapolitan pizza. I like their margherita DOC, carbonara (get them to crack the egg onto the pizza after it comes out, if you can), and quattro formaggi. Also fond of the Involtini di Prosciutto and their gelato is quite excellent.

Red Iguana. Really superior Mexican in a lively setting. Easily the best moles I've ever had. I am particularly fond of the Puntas de Filete a la Nortena (I cannot recommend this highly enough)! But really all their food is good (and the line out front proves it). There are two locations with a couple of blocks of each other and they are equally good, so go for the shorter line!

Ho Mei BBQ. Location looks terrible, but food is excellent. Primarily Cantonese, their roast meats and hot pots are especially good, but I haven't had anything bad there.

New Golden Dragon. Best Dim Sum in town Saturday & Sunday mornings (traditional cart service). Their shumai and cheong fun (especially the shrimp)are some of the best I've had. Roast pork is excellent too!

Kobe Japanese Cuisine. Go here for the ramen. I am especially fond of the tonkotsu with extra pork belly.

Copper Onion. My favorite of the "American Cuisine" options, but I have not hit everywhere.

Caveat: I am not a native of SLC, but have been a frequent visitor for many years.

NASHVILLE for Thanksgiving....where to eat?

If you mean you are looking for dinner on Thanksgiving Day, I would grab a reservation at Adele's, which is one of only 14 restaurants showing dinner slots available on that day via OpenTable. Most of the others are either hotel restaurants or steakhouses. Of those, I would probably hit Kitchen Notes in the Ombi.

Very excellent restaurants and bars in and around Salt Lake City?

My favorite restaurants in SLC are:

Takashi - Sit at the bar and let the sushi chef choose for you, especially if you avoid rolls and do sashimi & nigiri only.

Settebello - Excellent neapolitan-style pizza.

Red Iguana (either one) - PUNTAS DE FILETE A LA NORTE√ĎA. I can't emphasize this enough, especially if you get them to replace 1/2 the mole de almendras with mole amarillo.

Kobe Japanese Cuisine - This place is all about the ramen, especially the Tonkotsu. I typically add extra char siu and egg. Really good!

Ho Mei BBQ - Best with several adventurous eaters. Get the 3 bbq meats sampler, a clay pot dish, an offal stir fry, some gai lan, rice... Honestly, I could spend days in here working through the menu. My favorite Chinese restaurant in SLC.

I don't know a lot of SLC bars, but if you are a craft-brewing aficianado, you should definitely hit the Bayou!
