La Mei Zi (Spicy Sister) taking over Zen Restaurant.. Gooo!

Tried it last night - delicious! Had Chicken in Hot Szechuan Broth and Shredded Pork with Smoked Bean Curd and both were very good. Certainly compared to LS and Teahouse, but not exactly the same. Nice to see some authentic Hunan in addition to the Szechuan. Plus, they deliver to South Minneapolis!

MSP-Fav place for dinner w/ toddler

We take our 18 mo old to Blackbird frequently and they're very accomodating. They'll make special dishes for her, have lots of kid's books on hand and, most importantly, are very understanding. They even stow the stroller for you...

Maude and Cave Vin [South MPLS]

Live nearby and agree with your take on the service at Maude - can be a bit arrogant without the food to back it up. Much prefer Heidi's/Blackbird/Broders/Grand Cafe. Cave Vin and Pierre's are also great - much better French-ish (IMO) than the always-packed Salut nearby.

Minneapolis Banh Mi

I actually prefer the banh mi at Lu's Sandwiches, across from Quang...

Post-run Valentines Brunch this Sat [MSP]

Blackbird @ 50th & Bryant - I'm going there after the run!

MSP: Valentine's day breakfast hash

I like the oxtail hash at Blackbird a lot...

MSP Prix Fixe Menus?

Had the tasting menu (chef's table in the kitchen) at Vincent this past weekend - amazing!

Good Spots in Armitage Neighborhood (MPLS)?

Not a whole lot in the way of bars or "hangouts", but my recs (food/beer/wine-wise) would be: Cafe Maude at 54th & Penn, Cave Vin at 56th & Xerxes, Broders at 50th & Penn or Pierre's at 50th & Penn. A little further away I'd say Salut or Edina Grill at 50th & France, though I'm not a huge fan of either. I'd also recommend Heidi's and the Blackbird Cafe at 50th & Bryant in my 'hood (Lynnhurst).....

Ghandi Mahal - MSP

Anyone tried Ghandi Mahal at E Lake St and 27th Av S in Minneapolis (next to Midori's)?

We went the other evening and thoroughly enjoyed it - bolder flavors and better service than other local Indian places. Curious as to what other's impressions are....

New to St. Paul: Suggestions for cool food/cooking shops?

A few of my Minneapolis favorites:

Broder's Cucina Italiana - Italian deli, pastas, sauces, etc. - W 50th St & Penn Av S
Bill's Imported Foods - Greek/Mediterranean market - W Lake St & Aldrich Av S
Shuang Her - Asian supermarket - Nicollet & 26th St
Clancy's - Butcher featuring natural meats - W 43rd St & Upton Av S

There's also an Penzey's in Uptown at Lake & Hennepin...

MSP - La Chaya Bistro?

Has anyone been to the new La Chaya Bistro @ 46th & Nicollet yet? There was a 2 hour wait on Saturday, so I'm hoping someone has!

MSP PIZZA-NOT THIN CRUST

If I'm not mistaken, Bicko's served Green Mill pizza, so I would imagine the Green Mill in Uptown (or another location) would provide exactly what you're looking for...

Authentic Szechuan/Hunan recs?

Looking for recommendations on authentic Szechuan and Hunan spots in Manhattan - the spicier the better. Any favorites?

French Onion Soup in the Twin Cities?

I like the onion soup at Pierre's Bistro at W 50th & Penn in SW Mpls. I also think Cave Vin nearby (56th & Xerxes) does one....

Heidi's- Woodman's new resto in MSP

Live nearby and have been to Heidi's several times - tried most menu items and the food has been exceptional. Great, intense flavors and reasonable price points. Service has been hit and miss, depending on the server, but seems to be improving. Feel fortunate to have this place (and Blackbird) within walking distance....

West Hollywood suggestions?

Will be staying in W Hollywood for a few nights (La Cienega/Melrose area) and am looking for must-try dining ideas. Not interested in celebrity sightings or bar scenes, just the food! Suggestions welcomed for B/L/D from all cuisines. Walkable from hotel and fairly casual are the main criteria...
