Lucia's Tavola Ayer Ma Open Yet?

Passing through Ayer this past week, noticed the sign for Lucia's in the window of the recently closed Thirty One Main, but nothing is mentioned on their website from their place in Brookline NH.

Fot those not familiar with Lucia's, here's the website.

Looking for Merrimack-area dinner suggestions

solar, Pizzaco is just a couple minutes to the Cinemagic, it is in the plaza with Shaws, NH Liquor and Radio Shack.. Anytime we go to the movies there, we head over after to get pizza at Pizzaco, especially if it is before 3:00pm to get the lunch special. Happy hour isn't bad either.

Grade B syrup in Nashua?

I just drove by Lull and Brookdale in Hollis, someone was coming out of Lull, but I didn't notice if it was open, it was last week. Brookdale had a big closed sign on the door.

Grade B syrup in Nashua?

Trader Joe's had some, I think I got it in November; product of Canada if you don’t mind that it isn’t local. May want to call ahead there too, if you have no need to go there otherwise.

lunch in Nashua?

Here are the places I can think of that are open for lunch on a Saturday, I haven't been to any of these in a long time, so can't give any heads up on them, but I thought you'd like to see some options:

http://www.marthas-exchange.com/
http://www.estabrookgrill.com/
http://www.mtslocal.com/
http://www.thepeddlersdaughter.com/home.php?l=n
http://www.meenaskitchen.com/
http://thousandcrane2nashua.ybsitecenter.com/

I'd suggest looking the menus over, and then come back with questions. I'm sure I'm missing a few places that have opened or have added lunch hours, and someone will add those.

Also, depending on which direction you'll be heading on your way out, there are other places that are nearby with maybe a 10-15 minute drive either north or south of downtown.

Can you watch Top Chef online?

thanks for asking the ?. I'm going to be away that night, and I'm pretty sure my hotel doesn't carry Bravo. Will have my laptop, but don't think any of the sites do it real time. Of course it has to be a night there are two episodes on. Bravotv.com used to have them, wonder why they have stopped

Thanks again for asking and for the answers given.

Jacques Pepin in RI on Sunday Oct30th

Just saw this in the AE section of the Providence Journal:

He will be in Smithfield at Dave's Market, then he'll head down to Newport for a book signing and then a dinner at Fluke Wine Bar and Kitchen which for $165.00 gives you a five course dinner, with book, wine and gratuity.

So if any of you are in the either area just thought I'd pass it on, although I just went to Fluke's site and it says by invitation only for the dinner. But he will also be doing a book signing earlier at Banister Wharf.

Ogunquit area in winter

Admiral's had a small bar, that was opened when I was there last year, I know it was open so if you had been to the playhouse you had a place to get a drink. We however, did not make it there. So can't give you any feedback on what it has to offer.

The Front Porch I think is close by, but due to when you'll be there not sure if you'll want to walk depending on the weather. Also you mentione Old Village Inn, I think that should be even closer, or just walk across to Jonathan's if you aren't eating there or OVI.

I'm sure someone will post that knows whats what during the off season far better than I. We usually go Spring or Fall, haven't been there after Oct yet.

Why Jacques Pepin is a god...

http://ming.com/foodandwine/recipes/simply-ming-season-9/panko-crusted-butter-fish-with-wasabi-avocado-crema-and-mango.htm

Was it this one? I watched too, but can't remember if Ming only did one fish dish. When I went to one of his tapings last year, I can attest to his methods that you mentioned, and also how gracious he was to those of us watching ,to all his staff , and to the production company.

Why Jacques Pepin is a god...

If anyone is interested:

He's on Simply Ming tomorrow, at least in the Boston area. This is Ming's new season called
"Cooking on the Fly". Just hope they don't decide to turn the day into a pledge day and no cooking shows on again .

On the Border Tyngsboro Ma/Nashua NH line demolition going on

Thanks smokey, I tried doing a few searches, Lowell Sun, and then Tygnsboro planing board meetings minutes, last week, but nothing turned up, so thanks again.

So its another Olive Garden type place. Never heard of the BB place. Now will go check out their website.

Back again, here's the website, be forwarned, it has music, Bahama type, so not too loud.

The CHEW

The sauce had ketchup, beets, mayo and i forget what else, but was it supposed to be that bright pink stuff that was used as a peace sighn on the truck's sandwich?

On the Border Tyngsboro Ma/Nashua NH line demolition going on

I've never been on the property, but it appears to be able to handle a Cheesecake Factory, and when it was OTB, I do remember thinking it had a pretty large parking area as I was passing by.

So I would think that as long as a CF's building didn't have a huge footprint compared to OTB it would be appropriate.

Who is the parent company owner of CF? I think OTB was part of the Chili's so not sure if that makes a difference, not even sure if that parcel was ever sold. Heck ll just go look that up now.

CF is run by International Global Development, and I didn't find it connected to Brinker's which is parent to Chili's, OTB, Maggiano's and Macaroni's.

Newport, RI--Half Marathon

How about these for pasta?:

I think each has been posted about on here before. Plus I'm sure someone will now post about the good and just okay place.

Have fun and good luck, weather looks pretty decent.

On the Border Tyngsboro Ma/Nashua NH line demolition going on

Went by a few hours ago, and noticed for the first time since its closing that something was happening.

Since I was driving by myself I couldn't get a detailed look, but it looks like it might just be a total
demolition. I know that when Dick's was coming in Pheasant Lane Mall there were some ideas about what might be taking over OTB. There were no signs up about "the future home of" or any
inclination as to what was actually happening there at all.

Anyone have any ideas as to what chain will now be going in?

Any noteworthy coastal Maine restaurants damaged in this weekend's hurricane?

Not sure where exactaly you are headed so I just looked up here:

http://www.seacoastonline.com/articles/20110829-NEWS-110829693,

looks like a couple of areas around the Southern coast had some power outages, but nothing major I've heard of on all the reporting. Just before you make final plans I'd just call the Chamber of the area you are heading to make sure what you want has no issues.

Hope you have a good visit.

Tek-Nique - Bedford

Sorry haven't been, so can't help you there. But Ido have this bookmarked:

http://tekniquenh.wordpress.com/

Not a great website, but enough to give you an idea of what is offered.

Blueberry pie -dough still raw! need help!

Hoping you were able to at least eat the blueberry filling, yes hate to waste them especially at this time of year. Good luck if you try another blueberry pie. It was the recipe, not your fault.

Blueberry pie -dough still raw! need help!

I'm guessing you didn't do a a blind bake of the pie crust before filling. It wasn't mentioned in the recipe at all.

Do you know what that is? Sorry I'm not trying to preach here. No way to save it. Best just to eat the filling if that hasn't dried out too much.

Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

Yes, that's the one.

Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

I just drink light, so I had Bud Light, she did mention one with the word Shock in it. Can't remember the full name though. I know I've bought it before, I can picture it, but damn if I can remember the whole name. I think there were only maybe four drafts total, not even sure about bottled choices. Don't recall seeing a beer menu at all.

Bud Light is fine for me, but if your looking for something more, not sure of the choices.

Crush Pizzeria, Nashua?

Finally got to Crush this afternoon-just after 2:00pm. Few tables were occupied given the time. I was by myself ,so glad that is wasn't very busy.

Ordered just a plain cheese pizza, was a bit aprehensive about the sauce, but my server told me it wouldn't be large chunks of tomatoes since marinara wasn't a choice. Plus didn't want to have soggy issues either. When it arrived I thought maybe it would be a too wet crust. Once I separated the slices and let them cool off a bit, all was fine. I was able to pick up, fold and enjoy a very good pizza along with a couple of drafts.

My nice young server was great, she came by several times to make sure everything was okay. While there I didn't hear any complaints from other tables and everyone seem to enjoy what they ordered. Glad I was able to stop by and check it out. Glad to have a new place to stop by for a good pizza, friendly service and enjoy the time there.

Pastamore new in Amherst

We stopped by today about 3:30 so missed lunch but we hadn't eaten yet so that was fine.

Had the Suppli which was very good, and really enjoyed the meat sauce served with it.

I had the Gnocchi Veneziana, and Hubby had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. Both of us were very happy with our choices and we both tried a bit of the other's. I'd get either one again without hesitation, but want to go back and try something else. It was a good time to stop in, as we were the only ones there. One of the owners served us and remembered us from Pizzaco, so were were able to chat a bit too. He was the only staff out front due to our timing I'm sure.

I so hope they are consistant with the quality and make it there. There is very little else in that stretch of 101A.

I had never been there when it was Aspirations, and was expecting more of a counter service type interior, so was pleasantly surprised with it. Tables aren't so close that it would be uncomfortable on a busier time.

Need to buy a gift card to Babbo in NY

Do they have a reservation? If so, won't Babbo take the info from you with how much you want to have their bill credited? Unless they already know you are planning on getting them a gift certificate, it would be a really nice surprise for them. Or even when they arrive Babbo could give them the gift card from you. I'd think they'd like that very much, I know I certainly would.

Just a thought.

CRUSH TWEETUP?

Just did a search on Crush to see if anything new was happening. On their facebook page there was mention of people going and enjoying the pizza.

Also stated that it is opening Tuesday 5/31. Did any of you that have been posting about it attend?

Was it a soft opening I wonder?

Pastamore new in Amherst

Wasn't able to stop in yet. I do know that the owners are both servers from Pizzaco Merrimack.

Believe they are both from Italy due to their accents, not sure if they are both in the kitchen though. Hope to stop in soon.

Where did you see the menu? I looked for a website, but can't find one.

Lobster rolls in Nashua/Milford, NH

There's Weathervane between Spitbrook /Shaw's/Barnes &Noble/BestBuy and BJ's.
http://www.weathervaneseafoods.com/

I don't eat lobster, but those that do and have eaten there have never complained about their lobster rolls. Mayo based not much filler.

They have the one in Nashua and also one on 101 in Bedford. Decent seafood, for what it is.
