Best old school speakeasy type bars in Toronto?

I'm visiting for a week from Los Angeles. I'm looking for a place to get a good drink - a speakeasy type of bar such as varnish and 7 grand in LA or PDT/milk&honey in NY (I don't have much reference so these are all I know).

Anyone know of a place like this? A classic looking place where I can get an old fashioned with just burbon/bitters/sugar/soda/orangepeel but also a bartender who can make drinks on the fly based on my preferences?

Anyone know if hes going to be here long/ if he is going to head the kitchen at all? I would imagine the first week or so but haven't heard anything.

Best Lunch in LA?

I actually work downtown, so this would work well. Hopefully its a step up from nick n stefs (which i've had almost weekly these days).

Best Lunch in LA?

I'm on an expense account.

Been to Spago already, so far I'm looking at Matsuhisa/Providence/Water Grill. Anyone have any other suggestions? I know these are all seafood restaurants, but I would actually rather go turf too. Only problem is from what I know Cut/Jar/Wolfgangs are all closed for lunch

Sports Bar in Brea/Fullerton area?

Going to try to catch the laker game. We usually end up at yardhouse (which is good because happy hour and the earlier game tomorrow) but any other suggestions? I'm looking for something more of a sports bar as opposed to bar/restaurant.

Best casual dessert place in LA?

I've been looking around for a good dessert only place, especially with the holidays coming up and friends coming back home. Anyone have any good recommendations for a casual dessert only (or at least a significant amount). Somewhere I can roll in a couple hours after dinner and just enjoy various items.

I've looked at simon's junk food sampler, that seems a little too plain for me. Providence and Spago are both more restaurants that have a great desserts, but I'm not so sure I can show up and just get straight desserts w/o sitting at the bar or ordering food also.
