Re: Casa Luna Mexican Grille Somerville NJ

Thanks for the tip - always on the lookout for good Mexican in the area.

ISO location for private party of 50-100 in Morris/Somerset county area

The Madison Hotel in Convent Station has a couple of options. If you are under 100, the Conservatory is lovely.

Pilsener Haus & Biergartan German

I was there in February and thought it was great. I've spent a lot of time in Austria and Germany and I thought the food was very authentic. Another person in our group also lived in Germany for a year and thought the food was very good. The desserts were scrumptious - especially the palatschinken (crepes) with Nutella and nuts. The selection of beers is amazing and the atmosphere (inside) is pretty cool. Be warned, seating is at communal, picnic-style tables and may not be to everyone's liking.

Testaccio Market in Rome will move in Spring 2012

Che tristezza!

Three nights in MILAN: Are these restaurants worthy?

My last trip to Milan is a few years ago, but I had two fantastic meals at Ristorante Mistral (Don't let the french name deceive you - it's definitely Italian. I just checked the web, so they are still in business. If you like good food, this could be your wildcard place. It's in the Porta Romana neighborhood:
Viale Monte Nero, 34

Kyma ~ Sommerville

This thread was all the encouragement I needed to go back for a second try. I ordered taramosalata to start. It was creamy and abundant, but lacked a little of that fish "tang", served on wood-fire, char roasted pita though, it was very good. I ordered one of the specials - braised rabbit, with tomato and macaroni. I am a fan of anything braised and I was delighted to find rabbit. The dish was sublime and comforting, with the flavors of the rabbit, tomato and cinammon blending perfectly. Truly one of the best things I have eaten in a long time. No room for dessert this time.I was glad to see they were doing good business after 8:00 on a Wednesday.

Healthy Restaurant meals in Northern NJ above Newark

Cafe Metro in Denville.

Great Dinner at Roots Summit

Always nice to hear when a restaurant does the right thing. Glad you enjoyed it.

South Orange on Sunday - Giorgio's or Cafe Arugula?

OK. So we ended up at Giorgio's and it was a very pleasant surprise. Nothing exceptional - just standard Northern NJ Italian, but adequately done. The grilled calamari appetizer was a nice find.

South Orange on Sunday - Giorgio's or Cafe Arugula?

I need to choose between these two ( yes, I know there are better choices) and have a dilemma. Recent reviews for Cafe Arugula on another site suggest a change in management and that the food has declined. Giorgio's also has new owner and the food used to be so-so, but recent reviews suggest improvement. What's a hound to do? Can you shed some light?

Quality dinner in the Orange/Livingston area?

Still, if you are not from the area, the view from the Highlawn is amazing. A step up from the Star, Eagan's in either West Orange or Montclair isn't bad.

The Grilled Cheese Factory??

I've heard that Don's on South St. is doing the same thing.

Lalezar, Montclair-closed

That's too bad. perhaps they will re-open in a less pricey area.

somewhere convenient near Short Hills Mall

Search Millburn on this board and you'll see what's closest to the Mall. I also believe there is a Legal Seafood at the mall.

Lithos, Livingston

Thanks for the heads up. Always on the lookout for good Greek within driving distance. I had a good meal at Taximi in Caldwell a few weeks back.

portuguese restaurants in newark

Do you have an address?

Family-friendly lunch near the Morris Museum in Morristown?

The Famished Frog is probably the best bet in Morristown for lunch with kids. Don's just opened near the Community Theater (hamburgers, fries etc.) In Florham Park, just east of the museum, Nonna's in the Trader Joe's mall is good Italian and kid friendly and the diner in Florham Park is also a good local place.

Early Saturday dinner - Morristown area

Restaurant Serenade in Chatham might fill the bill. Resto in Madison is a BYO, but tends to fill up early.

Due Terre, Bernardsville to become Osteria Morini

Great, thanks.

Don's of Livingston in Morristown?

Friends of mine ate there on Wednesday. Maybe they are having a "soft opening".

Lunch in Orvieto- Where not to miss?

I restate my pitch for Trattoria del Moro-Arrone. Unpretentious, honest Umbrian food.

Anything new in Rome

I was in Rome in November and ate at Asino d'Oro on Via dei Serpenti - hands down one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time. It's relatively new and concentrates on Umbrian food. I have also become of fan of the following website/blog. Even though I don't live in Rome anymore, one can always pretend!

Morristown Recommendations

Not ethnic and not a BYO, the Montville Inn is less than a mile from 287I not sure what the exit number is, but it's Rt 202/Lincoln Park). A eclectic mix of food and drink. It can get very busy on weekends.

What can you tell me about D'Oro, Chatham?

I have to take my sister to dinner next Sunday night. She's staying in Convent Station. I wanted to take her to Resto, but it's closed on the 5th. I know most of the restaurants in the Madison/Chatham area but have never been to D'Oro. It has kind of mixed reviews on some other sites, not about the food, but treatment. Just curious to hear what folks have to say.

Restaurants in Naples

Escargot 41, is small and a little fancy, but very good.

Fish market in Northern/Northwestern NJ

Friends of mine swear by Metropolitan Seafood in the Clinton area:

Morristown Recommendations

I can strongly endorse either Marjan or Pamir, both have excellent renditions of their cuisines. Pamir is the nicer space, though. I have heard good things about both Aikou and Mehndi, though i have never been. Hibiscus gets a lot of traffic on TripAdvisor, but, honestly, no one around here talks about the place.

Due Terre, Bernardsville to become Osteria Morini

Well that is certainly good news. While I had no problems with the restaurant being tucked away in the corner, I am sure that more street exposure will be good for them. Plus, it won't look like they are in an abandoned parking lot. Perhaps they'll have room for some outside dining - that would be nice.

Due Terre, Bernardsville to become Osteria Morini

None yet, but I drive by frequently. I didn't even know that Due Terre closed. It was one of my favorite places to eat. Hope the new place is as good.

The Pluckemin Inn....not so good

Hmmm. I had heard rumors to that effect.
