Lively West Village dinner spot
A friend is taking me to dinner for my birthday on Monday. My pick. I want to go someplace lively with a fun atmosphere and good food, not too expensive. I suggested Tertulia, but I'm afraid it might be full up when we get there (7:30). If it is, any ideas for a backup in walking distance? Again, my criteria are lively vibe and good food. Doesn't have to be the best meal of my life. Thanks.

I'm seeing an 8 pm show at St. Anne's Warehouse in Dumbo on Saturday -- a neighborhood I seldom get to. Want to a have a good, early bite beforehand, but I have no idea what's over there. Pretty open. It's a friend's birthday, so would like something nice-ish. Recommendations? Thanks.
Dinner in two hours?
My brother's in town and I'm looking for a last minute suggestion for dinner. His tastes are pretty mainstream, but he appreciates good food. I want someplace where we can likely walk in and get a table at 7:30, or if I call now I can reserve one. Nothing too far uptown or down. Price isn't an issue, really, but maybe something lowkey. It's almost five o'clock! Help!
