Cool Bar Mitzvah Venue?
My neice had hers at this gallery in Culver City. Super hip!

Emporium Thai... Oh My.
Had a great meal last night at Emporium Thai. Pad See Eu... perfect. Southern Thai Curry... excellent. Yes the restaurant is run by the brother of Jitlada 's Jazz and Tui. He and his neice Honeybee were super sweet and encouraged me to order their Khua Kling Phat Tha Lung (Beef Dry Curry) next time I came in. Its not on the menu... yet. They will also make the infamous Jungle Curry if your want your West LA taste buds to rocket to the next dimension. On another note, the prices are good and my 4 year old son loves going there. Best Thai on the Westside!
Who has the best hummus?
The hummos from Elat Market deli section is excellent!!!

Food Network's "Best Thing I Ever Ate". What have you tried in L.A.?
I always considered myself a junior foodie. I guess I have graduated to the big time!
Pastrami Sandwich - Langer's -
I love this sandwich. It rivals my first experience at 2nd Ave Deli. Surprisingly they they don't have great pickles.
Godmother - Bay Cities
Old school LA. Darn good.
Pasta Mama - Hugo's
Another excellent LA standby.
Caramel Corn - Arclight Cinemas
Surprised how tasty, but kinda greasy.
Chocolate Coconut Cupcake - Joan's on 3rd
Umami Burger - Umami Burger
Good burger. Not the best just darn good.
Lasagne Verde - Angelini Osteria
Amazing.
Short Rib Taco's - Kogi
Whatever! I prefer Chego's beef bowl!
Chicken Mole - Loteria Grill
Pretty good. I love the potato tacos.
Chili Dog - Carney's
Ate here my whole life. Nothing beats Tommy's on Rampart though.
BBQ Short Ribs - Chosun Galbee
Great vibe for big groups of friends.
Whole Branzino Roasted in Sea Salt - Angelini Osteria
Excellent.
French Dipped Sandwiches - Philippe, The Original
You're not a real resident of LA if you haven't had this. I prefer the lamb double dip. Don't forget the mustard. You gotta try the pickled egg for kicks!

HELP! Cheap (but good) eats in Beverly Hills near Wilshire & La Cienega?

Susan Fineger's Street-- nothing to write home about
I was excited to use my 30% off coupon for Street and I am sorry to report that I completely agree with those who were underwhelmed. The Kaya Toast was interesting but it defiantely lost its lustre after the second bite.
We did *love* the basboosa cake dessert. The farmers market berries on top of the yummy semolina cake were amazing.
I think Ms. Feniger needs to rethink the menu and concept.
8 oz Burger Bar - Pretty bad
Very erratic. Never great. Ive customized a couple of good burgers there. Service stinks.
I went to Table 8 when it first opened and some incredible meals. After seeing Govind act kind of douchey on Top Chef Masters, the mediocrity of his burger bar made sense.
sheet cakes from Pavilions or Costco...are they any good?
Victor Benes from Gelsons is over rated. I really love the sheet cakes from Ralph's. We got a sheet cake for our son's birthday party and one guest who is a party planner could not believe it was from the market.
west hollywood breakfast
Kings Road Cafe (incredible coffee, good food, and great people watching)
Hugo's (great healthy breakfast choices and good coffee)
Best Ethnic Markets in Los Angeles
Golden Farms in Glendale (near Burbank) market has a great selection of Armenian, Persian, Russian, and Mexican items. Their deli stocks incredible hummos. No preservatives and garlicky :)

The Golden State...pretty good.
Big fan of Golden State. If you want to try a West LA great version of the Tommy's / LA Style Chiliburger I always recommend Marty's. I always choose this restaurant over the Apple Pan which is about a block away.

Where to find cheap groceries in West LA?
Get over it! Eilat market is great. The cucumbers there are amazing and the hummos and baba ganoush are awesome, Just don't go shopping at prime times. Friday, Sunday Afternoons, and afternoons in general. Quit your xenophobic crying. Also go to the farmers markets.
Seeking great yet low-cost wedding cake in LA.
I recently got a birthday cake from Ralph's supermarket. It was sooo good. Don't be afraid to check them out. We had all the guests ask where we got the cake from.
Chicago Deep Dish Pizza in LA?
I have never been to Chicago but I had a great sausage deep dish pizza - the kind with a lot of sausage under the cheese. Check it out.

Cemitas @ Venice and 405... are they gone?
I recently tried out the Pep Boys and Smart & Final cemita trucks in West LA. All good. Smart and Final only sold beef Milanesa, but I ate with now reservation. I also had a good cemita at Tacos Por Favor in Santa Monica. Its on their specials menu and they do use the real cemita buns. The chipotle wasn't as good as the trucks but the chicken milanesa was excellent.
Looking for New Doughnuts
I used to go to Alex Donuts in Hollywood on Franklin near Beachwood. They had a crumb donut which cures all sorts of depression and evil cravings.
CACHE to open. Josiah Citrin. Santa Monica.
I just got home from Cache.
Fun patio lounge ambience. The hosts and the waiters were great! (Our waiter was the nice guy who looks like he's about 15.) We had to wait a little long for our outdoor table but they were accommodating - they sat us in the reserved lounge area and kept on checking on us. The food was really solid.
Highlights were the tuna tartare, brie and caramelized onion flatbread, and truffle french fries. We shared two flatbreads, a steak, fries and three apps. The food cost came in around $120 for four people. We left stuffed and happy. I would recommend for drinks and dinner and we would definitely go back.
Burgers on Westside
Marty's has the best LA style chili cheese burger east of Rampart and Beverly.
