Low calorie options in Arlington, Lexington, Woburn, Burlington, Winchester

I am having dinner with a cousin tonight who is requesting a low calorie menu option. I had suggested Tryst in Arlington and she asked for Uno's at the Burlington mall because they have a low calorie chicken dish.

I am appalled. I need a delicious restaurant that offers good food, and a nice embiance that doesn't bore me to death but also has options for her. And most definitely NOT in a mall.

Obviously, choosing a restaurant with some salads is not going to be enough for her, I am terrified to say she needs the menu to actually say something like for dieters or something awful like that. Also, she doesn't like too spicy or too ethnic either.
Please help.

Tacos Mexico - Great taqueria in Framingham

This IS great news! Were they still cash only?

Tacos Mexico - Great taqueria in Framingham

There seems to be a garbage bag over the sign, which possibly means they have closed. Does anyone have any actual news? I just noticed as I was driving by, but didn't stop to see if there was a note on the door or anything.

Ararat Brandy?

Try Vahe's liquors on Main Street in Watertown, west of Watertown Square. There is a liquor store in Framingham that sells it too, on Rt. 9 wb just east of the 126 intersection.

Unending hunt for the perfect birthday venue

I love the Union Bar and Grill in the South End. It has such a cool vibe! Drinks are pricey, but inventive and very delicious! For a special birthday celebration, its perfect!

Beaujolais Nouveau in Boston

Realizing that the Beaujolais nouveau is not the greatest wine as it is "new," the experience is lots of fun. Do you know of restaurants in greater Boston celebrating?
If I was to host my own party, any suggestions of the types of cheese and sausage I should serve?

Where to buy an apron in Boston?

Anthropologie has beautiful aprons. Both full size that hang from your neck as well as half size that are from the waist down. They are priced higher, in the 20s and 30s range, with colorful and interesting fabrics and details.
They are not available as much online, but the stores carry a selection (check the sale sections too in the stores.) They have a store on Boylston Street in Boston.

Excellent Dinner at Tango

Last night on a whim, 6 of us went in and magically, they had a table ready for us (at 8pm)! Dinner was wonderful, and the service was warm, attentive and knowledgeable- and quick to give very helpful advise and answers to our many questions!
The restaurant was full the entire evening, tables set pretty tightly, but we were never rushed, in fact our table was consistently told to feel free and take our time! It seemed that no others were rushed either, even though the
Three of us had the skirt steak, which was tender and so very flavorful! The three others had the filet and they were very hesitant to share a bite because that would mean one less for them to enjoy!! They LOVED the filet. The sides were ok, the meat was the highlight of the meal.
The wines were fantastic too, we did not save any room for desert.

Large Birthday party?

We celebrated my 30th birthday at Excelsior, the front bar. They reserved tables for us, and there was no additional fees. People just bought their drinks from the waitress and it was wonderful. They let me bring a cake and cut it for me- the bar wasn't too crowded on a Saturday, it was a very cool ambiance and I had like 30 people there.
We had done a small dinner elsewhere, so people who couldn't afford dinner could still be there for the party.
Enjoy!!

Fun themed restaurant for fun dinner!

Upstairs on the Square in Cambridge. Although somewhat pricey, it is definitely a different world, I've heard it written as an Alice in wonderland experience. I can't vouch for that, but the cool decorating is definitely out of the ordinary.

Fordee's falafel....THE BEST!

Their shawerma and kebabs are fantastic too. And they have those pita chips to eat hummus or baba ghanouj with which are AMAZING!! I'm not a big potato chip person, these are awesome- they don't taste greasy or heavy at all...But, yes of course, their falafel is fantastic. I'm a HUGE fan.

Girls Weekend

I had my 30th birthday at the bar at Excelsior- they were FANTASTIC. You can grab a table overlooking the gardens, its awesome. My new favorite bar is Union Bar in the South end, although dinner is not cheap, their drinks are fantastic. For a more laid back, lounge feel, there is the enormous room in Central Square in Cambridge. I would NOT suggest the Living room in the North End/Wharf district. It gets too busy and although the music is ok, the crowd is annoying.

Remember The Skewers in Harvard Square?

Their rice pilaf and sauce was sooooo good......
I really like Fordees in Watertown on Mt. Auburn Street. Although I'm not a huge flaffel fan (their specialty,) thankfully their shawrma and kebabs are fantastic. Their fatoush salad is fantastic too. I haven't tried their babaghanoush or hammos, but they have pita chips which are super addictive.

A Bostonian and an Argentinian meet in Manhattan for Brunch

That sounds great! Hopefully we can sit outside even and enjoy the city. Thank you.

A Bostonian and an Argentinian meet in Manhattan for Brunch

I will be meeting a friend from Argentina in NYC. I haven't seen her in 14 years, as we met at a youth camp in Armenia when we were teenagers.
I will only have a couple of hours on a Saturday morning to enjoy her company, as I have to zip out of the city to Philadelphia for a wedding.
Brunch may be the best option for us, I'd love your suggestions. We are in our 30s, so something fun, with really good food but not too loud so that we can't have a conversation and share our old photos.
Her hotel is in the upper east side, so I'd prefer not to make her go around the city if there are good options in her neighborhood.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!

outdoor drinks tonight?

Thanks!
I suggested Dante or 28 degrees- any encouragement for either of those? There will be like 8-10 of us.

outdoor drinks tonight?

We can only think of Tia's- but I'm concerned with the long lines and the meat-market ambiance.
They have good music, good people watching, and close proximity to the waterfront. We'd like to go around 10pm and likely will not eat anything.

I'd appreciate your suggestions.

Another thought was Biagio's in Waltham, but there must be other lounge/bar places with a great outdoor component....

Trata-new pizzeria in Harvard Square-awful!!

I would understand service issues, but not their recipe- especially when I read that the owners have previous pizza experience.

Trata-new pizzeria in Harvard Square-awful!!

They seem to have just recently opened, an "upscale" pizzeria next to Dadaelus (in the old Tommy's pizza.)

The renovated room was beautiful, the ambiance was lovely, great window seating, good music, I was all excited for a great lunch.

Their menu had interesting offerings, but I went with a slice of cheese and a slice of peperoni- because if they can do those right, anything else is going to be fantastic. I'm really glad I didn't go for a $9 pie and just took a slice. They were AWFUL! The sauce had no taste or texture. The cheese had cooled, and I guess they added more cheese to my order and put it back into the oven. Too oily, too cheesy- in fact almost rubbery! the crust was small, maybe originially a 12" or a personal pizza size. But it too was tasteless and bland. The thing was, it took so long to get the slices too, it would have been better for them to just re-make a couple of pies- maybe even faster!

This was horrible!! In fact, I left regretting the calories I wasted on these slices! In addition to the money lost! I'm not a calorie counter at all, but I was really, really disapointed.

I really like Cambridge 1, I think its a fun concept with ok food. I was excited for this new place, sadly I will not stop in again.

Patio engagement party for 50

Biagio's in Waltham has a wonderful patio, with parking!! The lounge area is great for overflow (or weather...) and the food is great.

Melting Pot - Arlington Street/Back Bay

A friend had a 15 person birthday event at the Burlington location. Some people including the birthday girl LOVED the experience. So much so that they didn't seem to notice the high prices, poor taste, low quantinty and HORRIBLE service. The guys in the group complained that the food took too long, between the bad service, then having to cook our own meal, the whole evening took like 5 hours, without being full.

Lemon Cake

Rosie's bakery has a wonderful lemon cake. They have locations in Inman Square, and I think one closer to Porter Sq on Mass ave too. Their Lemon cake is fantastic.

North End Treats

I went in during lunch today, they had lots of staff- it seemed like owners and management were also helping out to get everyone's order in. Its clean, store with a great selection of drinks, baked goodies, and the panini was delicious. The Bova bread that made all the difference!

Lounge to enjoy 20-30 friends?

Thanks for the HS suggestions, but I'd like to stay closer to the final destination. Although, as we will probably park near the common then take the T to Kenmore Sq. getting to Harvard Square isn't that much more of a challenge- it just requires changing trains.

Lounge to enjoy 20-30 friends?

I'm thinking of the Bristol Lounge in the Four Seasons to have a 30th birthday gathering with friends. I'd like to not wait in long lines like at the new hot spot Beehive, or have to pay a really high bottle service fee in order to grab a few tables. I'd really appreciate other suggestions too.

For dinner we are going to Petit Robert because I wasn't able to afford a weekend in Paris for my birthday. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Young Adults group for pre-Valentine's day dinner

Thanks so much.. I myself have been looking for an opportunity to visit ES as I hear so many wonderful things about it. Glad it can work in this situation.

Young Adults group for pre-Valentine's day dinner

We can be flexible as anything outside of our usual Belmont/Lexington/Arlington is great- your options above are all feasable. I also should note that this group tends to be a little shy about adventurous places. They don't turn my suggestions down, but they are hesitant. Thanks!

Young Adults group for pre-Valentine's day dinner

I'm hunting for your advice for a group dinner for 15 the evening before Valentine's day. I'd like to keep entres under $20, but someplace worth getting dressed up for.
Thank you in advance.

Monday Night Cocktails

Lucky's is a great place for drinks. Has good food and a fun crowd. It looks like they even have live music on Monday nights. 355 Congress st. Boston. They do have tvs too.

weeknight dinner for 15 outside of Boston

I am trying to organize a dinner for a young adults group of 15 during a weeknight around 6:30, so would prefer not to go into Boston, although Cambridge is possible (north or west inside 128 is what I would like.) Looking for a comfortable space that will allow us to talk and not be rushed. I would greatly prefer not to go to a chain like Vinny Testa's or Not your Average Joes- (Arlington/Lexington) and would like to keep the entres around $15.

I like to challenge this group's pallette which is very basic. They haven't kicked me off my restaurant choosing role yet, so I suppose my exotic choices (not basic American, Italian or Chinese) have been well recieved. I'd appreciate your advice!!
