I know about food carts but what? where?

oyster stuffing to go between Denver and Co Springs?

My parents are not cooking for Thanksgiving but are getting take out from Whole Foods and Tony's. Does anyone know where to find oyster stuffing or dressing? Thanks!

crinkle fries

Thank you, I'll pass those along.

Delfin (not Delfina's)

Went to Delfin on 24th St. a number of years ago. Does anyone know how it has held up over the years?

crinkle fries

My east coast friend lives in bay area now. She misses Friendly's crinkle fries. Any recs for something similar or better? Thanks!

Disparate group of six looking for brunch place Saturday

Thanks so much. I accidentally posted two similar things. Judy's? Couldn't find out if they take a reservation. Looking at the menu made me so hungry. I can't believe I have not heard of this place.

Foodie Plans of a 25 Year Old's Long Weekend in San Fran- Need Tips!

I have lived near, and eaten at La Taqueria for 20 years, The owner gave my kid a rose when she switched over (she used to prefer rice in her burrito). I have a couple of burrito places but this one always feels like a special treat. They close for a month in December, to give their workers a break to travel back to Mexico, so eat up when you can.

something like Savor but not Savor

Been there, had that. It is OK...where else to try that has casual vibe, but maybe I could make a reservation? Still seeking something unexpectedly delicious. Don't really want to wait in line on a mid Sat. a.m. Parents are older, but my Dad has pretty good parking karma.

brunch Sat. in SF for a disparate group

Thank you. Have been to both Chows many times. Good idea.

Thank you, I've always wanted to try them. Their menu looks scrumptious.

Yeah this is a favorite of my parents. Thank you!

Disparate group of six looking for brunch place Saturday

Two of us like "Denny's" and four of us like something a lot better. Looking for something comfortable, YUMMY, reasonable...in San Francisco. Thanks.

Pre Balkan Beatbox at Filmore

Saw some posts re Filmore...Is Kabuki Kitchen done and over? Are there other places in Sundance/Kabuki complex besides one with frog in the name? Should we venture out without reservations to Fresca or Mexican/Asian owned burrito place? Japanese? One of our party is going to be post Ramadan hungry/breaking fast...we are not big drinkers so that is not an issue, and will be hoping to see show by nine at least. Thanks!

Where to eat in the area around the Filmore?

So where did you end up eating? Thinking Japanese, or asian owned mexican, or fresca. Going go see Balkan Beatbox at the Filmore tomorrow. Thanks.

where can my teacher (bronx project) get steak and potato on a teacher's salary? He's staying downtown, teaching in the inner Mission.

Fish tacos in SF

A Fish Taco at Papalote is satisfying. As is that jardinierre Mexican place at the Ferry bldg.

Aslam's Rasoi - great northern indian food, valencia & 22nd

These posts are older, but my daughter and I, who live in this area, went to Aslam's on a Friday night, around eight, and the place was packed so we gave up and went somewhere else. I was happy for them. I thought they were not doing so well. I have had 4 or 5 excellent meals there (including Christmas dinner with my folks). I, too, wish they were not quite so pricey (still worth it), and that they had changed their name.

SFO newbie seeking chowder and coffee

I may be repetitive, but Blue Bottle can be had at Mission Beach Cafe, at 14th and Guerrero, along with delicious pastries. Take Bart to 16th and walk over and up, or take Bart to 24th and walk down two blocks to Ritual (whether under or over roasted), it is so delicicious it is like drinking a fine wine. Who cares if it is cafe laptop?! I'll go to Peet's if it is close and I can't go to the above mentioned. Phil'z, in the Mission, a fun walk from 24th St. Bart to Folsom and 24th, is a trip, and their coffee is amazing. Have fun.

grabbing lunch on Saturdays near SF State

No time or inclination to go to Stonestown. Is there anything good near SFSU besides a Peet's booth?

Mission Beach Cafe

I like this place. Coffee is blue bottle and breakfast pastries amazing (former Chow baker or owner?), Irony in art...photos of the real Mission while it is definitely pricey/yuppiesh...but as they say on what white people like website, expensive sandwiches are yummy. Grass fed hamburgers ranked up with Zuni, according to my meat eating friend. Salads fresh and delicious and interesting. What's the word?

Used to be Platanos

Ummm, yes, that sounds right, actually.

Used to be Platanos

no I don't think so...but thanks

Close to Brava Theater in Mission?

La Santaneca is good if somewhat greasy for pupusas. La taqueria is infamous and worth the price/still cheap and no rice burritos. Always fresh, and you can go across the street to Mission Pie for dessert. La Taqueria is at 25th and Mission and it is telling that there is always a line and Latinos and Gueros (White people) gravitate to it. The tacos are also excellent. You can get weird stuff like lengua...tongue, cabeza...brain, carne asada and polla...steak and chicken. The vegetarian burritos and tacos are also yummy...use the green salsa. There is also Weird Fish, eighteenth and mission, and Spork is open for lunch Tues. thru Fri., though I have not tried it...it is too meaty for me.

Close to Brava Theater in Mission?

My family was "encanta" with Delfin when we went, then it seemed to be closed for awhile. Have not risked trying it again. It had been reviewed in the Bay Guardian, I believe (a free weekly SF paper) years ago. Has anyone been there more recently. Their seafood was spicy and yummy.

Used to be Platanos

There's a breakfast place, also lunch and early dinner at eighteenth and Guerrero. Thinking of trying it tomorrow but can't remember the name. It has a man's name in the title. Any info. on this place? Thanks.

Best Gelato in San Francisco?

Naia haters try it again...the Castro location has some innovative and delicious flavors: nutella, lime sorbetto, lots of italian flavors and mojito is yummy. The servers, esp. Michaela, Karen and Paulina are knowledgeable, friendly, and they get rid of gelatos that may be grainy or not full-flavor. Bi-Rite is good, but Naia is too, and better for you.

Where to take the folks?

We had a yummy fish and chips lunch at the Cliff House...the less fancy part, and ate near sportscaster, Gary Radnich. Then my parents and I had lunch at Cafe for all Seasons and saw Gary and his family again! That place changed hands so I don't know how the quality is now. If you go to Five Star, don't miss the caramel truffles. My dad likes the clubby atmosphere of Luna Park, and for fun, retro Southern food, try Front Porch. Dessert? Gelato at Naia in the Castro, cupcakes from Citizen Cupcake or Noe Valley Bakery, or salted caramel or Ritual ice cream from Bi-Rite Creamery.

Where to go with older parents and two nineteen year olds

My parents were here so we went to Regalito...fresh guacamole, pretty place, and we went to Weird Fish for the fish and chips (yummy yam fries) and salads and Greg Normans. We also hit loud but satisfying Little Star Pizza...the one on Divisadero...made my mom nostalgic for Chicago. Went to tried and true Savor, and lastly a perfect meal at Firefly. Missed out on hitting Mission Pie but did enjoy some gelato from Naia in the Castro...fantastic server...Michaela...and it was one of those rare hot SF summer days.

Hit list for best restaurants in the Mission District

My family and I had a pretty good lunch at Maverick. Luna Park, my dad loves, Mom loves The Last Supper Club, I'll second La Taqueria (vegetarian burritos and tacos, for those who don't eat "lengua"). Dosa,(muy sabrosa)very delicious. Ritual for coffee (to go, unless you like the ambiance of "cafe laptop"). Limon for pork chops or fish. Is the new Rasoi Indian place good?
