any good tap houses
sorry . chicago city, specifically the palomar. no car, just subway.
any good tap houses
thanks! Tried the gage last time I was there. Pretty good. Plan on trying out the publican as well.
any good tap houses
More bar than food, although if the food is good, that's just gravy. i'm looking for a good selection of beers, bottles and drafts. not necessarily the main stream, bud, coors, etc...
any good tap houses
Hi. I'm going to be in town for the weekend and was wondering if there are any good tap houses that are worth visiting.
everyday eating in SD
Can anyone rec SD restaurants that locals frequent? I'm going to be in SD for 3 weeks and would not like to break the bank. Diners, take out places, mom and pops, type are what i'm looking for. I'll be staying in mission valley and working close to the shipyard. pls help....
Best store bought pickles
thanks for the recs! hopefully, i'll have some of these locally.
Best store bought pickles
Simply put, i went to the doctor and found that i should go on a diet. It looks like sandwiches will be on the lunch menu for the foreseeable future. anyone recommend a great, store bought pickles?
Butcher in Honolulu
i think you can order primal cuts from north shore cattle company (grass fed beef). they're at the saturday morning KCC farmers market. and i also think you can order specialty cuts from them as well.
legends on a saturday night
no, i didn't want to chance it. ended up going to little village.
legends on a saturday night
what everyone's experience at legends on a saturday night? crazy busy? i have a party of 10, no chance? should i try somewhere else?
Not a good start for the americans...
Even with all high profile chefs... Keler, Boulud, still not a shoe in at Bocuse d'Or.

Whole Foods Coffees
Are there any good medium roast whole bean Whole Foods brand coffees?
Padovani's Chocolates now open
for chocolatiers, there's also honolulu chocolate company at ward, close to kaka'ako kitchen. they have a good selection of imported valrhona type stuff, as well as in house chocolates. try the hand rolled chocolate decadence. they melt in your mouth.
Honolulu Bakeries
for filipino bakeries, go to nandings. 2 locations. they're on gulick avenue, makai (ocean side) of n. king street. also in waipahu, ewa end close to don quijote's. go for the spanish rolls (soft and buttery w/a little sugar). they also have pandesal, although the now defunct alredo's had better ones.
there's also kapuakea, but they're a made to order place. yes, i know not exactly user friendly. they have awesome lilikoi lemon bars and brownies and choco breads. they need at least 2 days advance notice for orders. great for omiyage.
there's a lot of specialty bakeries. esp for mochi and senbei.
Another one gone - sadly no great loss
say what you want about compadres, but their Taco Tuesday could't be beat. $1 tacos and $5 unlimited chips and salsa. i drank a many a corona every tuesday.
favorite Bubbie's flavor? (Honolulu, HI)
mmm.... bubbiesss
if you're into green tea ice cream. i think they have one of the better green tea's. regular ice cream and mochi. otherwise, my usual is oreo.
potato buns on oahu
anyone know where i can get potato buns on oahu? i'm thinking about a burger weekend.
late night eats big island
i know its late, but are there any good late night eats in kona? i'll be staying at the hilton waikoloa and was wondering if there's anything besides drinks after 930 pm.
Looking for fresh passion fruit
i think i saw some the other day at kokua market near the university. not sure, but you should call first before you make the trek from north shore. you could also try china town or the saturday kcc farmers market, but i dont think you would be able to phone in to check availability.
BEST PLACE (in Honlulu) FOR ORDERING FOOD TO TAKE ON PICNIC
If you're set on hibachi-ing stuff, but dont want to do prep you can go to a korean place and buy pre-marinated stuff. i know gina's does it. you can also pick up may's (kalbi, bbq chicken, burgers) at pretty much all the grocery stores. poke at tamuras, tamashiros. there's also the okazuya around town. i don't frequent kailua/waimanalo area to often so I cant really give you more recs aside from foodland and zippys. but if you need breakfast prior to going down, there's always boots and kimos.
Late Reservation at French Laundry
So I lucked out with a 9 pm reservation at TFL. I'm really looking forward to it, but again its at 9. So my question is is there fun/good to do in napa/yountville prior to res, or should we just go directly to the restaurant?
No Reservations:Hawaii - back out of the hole
Not a bad show, but there was a bunch of places that he could've gone. While on the north shore he could've gone to Matsumoto Shave Ice/Aoki Shave Ice, Giovani's. I think he should've included more of the nieghbor islands. Sam Sato's on Maui or Hamura's on Kauai.
No Reservations:Hawaii - back out of the hole
For next week's show, he asked Eric Ripert to do dinner service at Les Halles with him.
Cassis has come and gone
