Pie Boxes?

Thank you, if I can't find them elsewhere I will try that!

Pie Boxes?

This is great information, thanks everyone! I definitely only need a few, since I'm not a professional - just looking for an easy way to give some as holiday gifts. Michael's or AC Moore will be my best bet, I think, and it will be worth the premium since online it's $9 for 10...but another $9 in shipping.

Pie Boxes?

I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could buy bakery-style pie boxes. I know I can get them online, but was hoping there would be something more local. Kitchen supply store? Verna's? Any help is appreciated!

Reusing plastic water bottles

The short answer is, it's an urban legend: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/plasticbottles.asp

The longer answer is that it's better not to keep reusing those bottles because they are difficult to clean. (and that according to the Snopes article, there are SOME kinds of plastic that may be of concern) Better to buy a bottle that is meant to be reused and fill it up with your own very good water!

No. 9 Park recently?

I will say that's not the menu I'm seeing - if you haven't cleared your browser in a while it might be the old menu - the one I get seems seasonally appropriate.

Scotch in Boston

I'd second both comments on Downtown - I love 'em, but the prices are not a deal. Marty's in Allston has a fairly decent selection, as does Blanchard's - probably nothing too obscure, but as I said, decent. For best price, we usually make the haul to NH, which has state-run liquor stores like the ones you describe. However, I feel like the selection isn't huge - I think you can find their stores online and check it out if you were feeling like a journey.

River Gods

I really enjoy River Gods, but don't think of it as cocktail sort of bar per se. And I enjoy the food but the selection is a bit limited - to me it's a great spot to have a pint and the aforementioned fantastic fries.

Restaurant Week(s): March, 2008. Where are YOU going?

We're doing Icarus this year. I'm excited, as I haven't been yet.

Great restaurant for a birthday dinner?

You are correct re: Christopher's. I only mentioned it because I wasn't sure how "special occasion" the birthday was - some folks are just looking to gather on their birthdays. Ellstah - I love Chez Henri, but I have to agree with Pollystyrene re: your parameters. Happy birthday!

Great restaurant for a birthday dinner?

I haven't been to Om, so I can't say there (but if you do go, post about it!). The Fireplace is not bad, but didn't wow me for the price point. Nice atmosphere, though. The Golden Temple across the street from it might be nice for a big party though - high end Chinese and good cocktails, and I like the space.

Great restaurant for a birthday dinner?

Not terribly exciting, but Christopher's in Porter Square would fit the bill. Near the T, near parking, lots of space, and a wide range of options. Slightly less expensive than you're looking for but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If that's not birthday-festive enough you could try the Monday Bar at Upstairs at the Square in Harvard - slightly nicer with many of the same elements.

Deep Ellum - a new beer bar in Allston

Total agreement with this assessment. Amazing cocktails, love love love the staff, but the food is pretty iffy. I tend to go with cocktails while I'm there simply due to the proximity of the Publick House - if I want beer, that's where I'll go.
