Fat Tire heading east?
The Probition era is finally over for the brewing industry. We can give thanks for that. Living in SC I thought that I would not live to see free pour liquor by the drink and high gravity beer, Not only do we live in interesting times but in happier and freer times.
Fat Tire heading east?
Tonight, I have had my first Fat Tire Draft at Buffalo Wild Wings in Summerville SC. It seems to have somewhat the same flavor profile as Sweetwater 420 but the Sweetwater is hoppier.and less sweet.
Founder's KY Barrel Stout
Well, now I am confused. Maybe I had too many other beers before having this one. I know it had the word Ky as part of the name and it was bottled not draft. I will have to say it is one of the best beers I have ever had. Looking at the Founder's Website and looking at the labels and reading the descriptions it had to be KBS, I assumed incorrectly that the B stood for Barrel. It also looks like there is a distributor in Charlotte NC which is not too far away and this year it was only made in the month of March. Sounds like I need to be in Charlotte in March of 2010. Thanks for the info, Guys.
Founder's KY Barrel Stout
I was at a beer dinner at a local restaurant in Summerville SC and was given a bottle of Founder's KY Barrel Stout. It was delicious and had the faint taste and bouquet of bourbon. I have not been able to find it in any local stores. It was only at the restaurant for that beer dinner and there were only a few bottles there. Any suggestions on how to find would be appreciated.
One of the Best Tips that I have gotten from Chowhound
One of the negatives of eating greasy food other than gaining weight is when the grease falls on one's shirt it leaves an almost indelible spot. After one launders the garment the grease spot still remains as a shadow of itself. I have tried many laundry spotters or grease removers all of which have fallen short. The thing that works is a pan cleaning product. It is called Dawn Power Dissolver. It is found in the kitchen cleaner section of the grocery store. It is in a Blue plastic bottle with a finger pump sprayer. I have used it on both cottom and man made fibers and is color safe. It is often hard to find. So yes, this message is self serving in that I hope there will be more demand for the product. BUT IT DOES WORK!
Charleston - N Chuck Taco Trucks
This post will probably show that I am not a true chowhound in that I did not go on a personal Search & Chew mission on my own. I have ridden by numerous taco trucks in the N Chuck - Ladson area and have not stopped to check them out. My only excuse is my possible fear of a language barrier. For those of you in the greater Charleston area that have tried the taco fare could you make recommendations for me. Thanks
Great Beer Selection in Charlotte

Best places to order booze online?
Violet22
Living in one of the most conservative states in the nation SC, and from what I read and hear about Idaho you might disagree with me on which state is the most conservative. Be sure and see if you can have spirits shipped into your state. There are several W. Coast gins that I would love to try but cannot get them shipped down South
Recession Gin
Of all the gins already listed I think there is one that is even cheaper and has a fairly good gin flavor. It is McCormick Gin made in Misouri if think. I live in SC and can find it in sme ABC stores. If you go to look for McCormick's it will not be at eye level. Look down toward the floor and you might find it. Good luck on finding it and lets pray this recession is short and not too deep.
BOILED PEANUTS - craving!
As to the best boiled peanuts, that is an unanswerable question. It is similar to the questions on Chowhound who has the best BBQ or hot dogs. It is mainly you like what you are use to, or grown up on, or the first ones that you had. By the grace of God, I have been able to eat boiled peanuts all of my life. It was many years that I ate the standard boiled peanuts, water and salt variety. But approximately in the early 1980's there was a roadside stand in my local area that had a sign that said K-Jon flavored boiled peanuts. At first I could not translate the word K-Jon, but I screwed my courage to the sticking point and asked to try a couple of those K-Jon peanuts. My mouth was on fire. I could not believe the joy that I experienced. Now when I go back to the old standard they are good but the K-Jon are so much more tasty.
I agree with Charleston Chow that boiled peanuts and a good cold beer is one of the best earthly delights on this side of heaven. Another place that almost requires boiled peanuts is sitting in the stands of a high school football game on a crisp October Friday evening. Of course at the football game one is not allowed to have the proper beverage to wash down those peanuts. This does necessitate several trips back to the car and the facilitites.
Another thing that I think is interesting is the many ways the word cajun is misspelled to catatch peoples attention.
Single Barrel/Small Batch Bourbon
Scott,
Not knowing how far you have climbed the managerial ladder, if you are looking for something that is on the lower end of the price range of single barrel bourbons. I would suggest Evan Willians Single Barrell. Even thought is sells for around $32 for 750 ml it is one of the smoothest better tasting single barrel bourbons. Often I will try ofthes that are more expensive but I always come back to EV Single B.
Good Luck
Everclear
Everclear is available in SC. In fact my father's doctor told him get some and put a few drops in his ears to loosen wax. Personally I prefer to use it to make high octane Pina Colada
best bread in Columbia, SC
Oh man, I was use in W. Cola and Cayce a few weeks ago and missed it. Wish they would come to the Summerville Farmer's Market. We have a baker that comes but they are mainly a pastry baker and I would give any thing for a hearty, chewy, crusty pumpernickel
Burgers in Columbia, SC?
Coming to Columbia on I 26 W there is outdoor advertising bill board that claims that Hardee's has the best Burgers in Columbia. It gives one pause.
Edisto
What a perfect time to come to Edisto. Edisto reminds we of what beaches were like here in SC in the 50's and 60's excluding MB. I hope the weather will be beautiful and there is a full moon. The drive getting to Edisto with the cathedral of live oaks over the road is almost worth the trip in itself. Hope you have a wonderful time.
Best Pizza in Charleston
If you have tried Mellow Mushroom's pizza, how would you rate it in relation to Zappo's and D'Allesandro's?
Gin: my new hobby
If you are looking for bonce for the ounce. Seagram's Distiller's Reserve is a good choice at 102 proof. It does not have the botanicals taste of a Beefeaters or a Tank but is good with a high alcohol content.
scrapple in the triangle?
If you have a Publix Supermarket in your area, they have scrapple in the Frozen Meats section of the store. We live in Summerville, SC and that is further south than Triangle of NC but the question remains has Publix a FL based company has gotten north of South Carolina.
