Best Thai in Seattle

I went there this past weekend, and I was not impressed. Maybe because I went to Lotus of Siam about a month ago, but the Crispy Chicken Garlic dish was overrated. The chicken was dry and it tasted burnt. It might have been an off night. My partner did enjoy his Trout Salad. We were both not impressed with the Spring Rolls.

Seeking a store with a nice tea selection in Seattle

Remedy is also a cafe. I've studied there before and they have free wifi.

Remedy Tea on Capitol Hill is awesome.

SEA: Looking for Lotus of Siam/Northern Thai-like Restaurant...

Hey Chowhounders!

I just got back from Las Vegas and had a wonderful dining experience at Lotus of Siam, and I was wondering if there is a Thai restaurant that is remotely similar to them. The only place i can think of is in Portland, and that's Pok Pok. Even then, they are not that similar.

Ballard Recommendations

I've never been, but Le Gourmand seems like the place you are seeking.

Spending a Weekend in Seattle-- Food recs anyone? :)

I second Tilth for its focus on "local and organic" ingredients.

Takoyaki in Seattle

There are definite places that serve them in Seattle, but they do not compare to the real thing. I've been looking for Takoyaki for two years now. I've had them at Sushiland, Maneki, Kaname, and Genki. All were disappointing. Too doughy, and it felt like it was deep fried. The only place I've never been to is Wann, which one of the workers at Kaname recommended.

I would seriously fly to Hawaii just to have some fresh Takoyaki. When I was in HI, I ate it for three days in a row and ate two boxes each time.

Japanese Spicy Curry & Pork, where is it? SEA

I second Mashiko's curry.

I've never had it, but what do you guys think of the curry at Fort St. George?

SEA: One Dinner, Max of $80PP. . .

I just called AOTB, and they are only offering communal tables now. Right now, I'm aiming towards Rovers. They have a Julia Child's themed menu for $55, and it looks lovely. We'll see though. I need to consult with my other half first.

I was thinking of doing the Urban Eats promotion for Crush, but I hear the portions are small. I'm a heavy eater, so I don't know if it's a good idea. Thanks again Hounders!

SEA: One Dinner, Max of $80PP. . .

Hello Chowhounders,

My partner and I are planning to go on an outing next weekend, and I'm getting a bit of a headache in choosing as to where we should go. I need the help of you guys. I've looked through the forums, and I'm still undecided. I need a bit of an advice. My favorite cuisine is Japanese, but I think I should deviate from doing omakase. I am eyeing a couple of restaurants and here they are...

Union
Art Of The Table
Rover's
Crush
Chez Shea
NIshino (Well, it is neo-japanese. =P)

Thanks in advance.

Best Seattle Sushi?

I second this place.

First visit to Portland

I went there last weekend, but you should definitely check out Waffle Window and Pok Pok.

Good restaurant Marysville, WA?

LOL. Boston's Pizza is disgusting. The flavor combinations are just nasty. I'm sorry that you wasted your time and money at that place.

Chinese Breakfast in Seattle?

I'm glad you had a great time. I've always enjoyed their breakfast items. You should try their hand-shaven noodles also. Steamed wonton is definitely one of my favorites.

Chinese Breakfast in Seattle?

Chiang's Gourmet. I think it ends at two though.

SEA: Cheese Festival Vendor Question. . .

Hey guys,

I went to the cheese festival today in Pike Place Market, and I just want to know the vendor that sells the Ford Farms Rugged Mature Cheddar. They were located in the second tent, if downtown is behind you. Thanks.

Ammonia Crab at Seven Stars Pepper

That's disappointing. I was really planning on trying that crab!

Ammonia Crab at Seven Stars Pepper

I don't know if 2.5 pounds would merit an Alaskan King Crab.

Espresso- no Starbucks swill

Vivace is the place to go like what everyone else says!!!!

SEA: Best Chinese Crab Dish

I would like to know where to get a great crab dish. I've heard that Sea Garden and Seven Stars Pepper do it well. I just want to know if there are other places. Thanks.

Lunchbox Laboratory

I just went here today, and it was great. I had a 100% Beef patty with balsamic-hoisin and the Irish Dubliner cheese. The kaiser roll was very good. It was light and a crisp top bun. I also tried my friend's curly fries--they were alright. Right before I left, I ordered a Boston Cream shake, which was excellent. Granted, I don't drink shakes that much, but I loved the small chunks of fudge on the bottom. Overall, a very satisfying meal.

Omakase, Mashiko, Nishino, Shiro's?

Thanks guys. I've been to Mashiko and they are great. I want to check out Nishino's, but the price I'm looking for is around 50 to 60 dollars.

SEA: Grinders Hot Sandwiches

I just had their Sauball today and it is very good. I'd just like to know what everyone thinks of this place or if you guys have heard of it. ww.grindershotsands.com is their website.

Omakase, Mashiko, Nishino, Shiro's?

I've done omakase at Kisaku, but it doesn't feel as complete as Mashiko. Jaydeflix is right about Mashiko though. They repeat the some of the dishes. What's the pricing at Nishino's? 70 to 100?

SEA: Best Sukiyaki

The best one I've had was at Kaname. I want to taste something better than Kaname's. Granted, I don't order sukiyaki too often due to my wanting sushi instead.

Omakase, Mashiko, Nishino, Shiro's?

Which of the three is the best?

Yakiniku in Seattle...

I've heard of it, but I'm looking for a yakiniku that uses charcoal. However, I will check the place out. Thanks!

Yakiniku in Seattle...

Hi Everyone,

I am on vacation in Hawaii right now and last night, I ate at Gyu-Kaku, a yakiniku restaurant. I was just wondering if anyone knew any restaurants that offered yakiniku-style dining. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving...
