Has anyone tried the new Magnolia Bakery

It's so cute and even if cupcakes aren't your thing, the space is so quaint and homey feeling and there are so many other things to try. their attention to detail makes it feel like a movie set almost and the dessert bars look amazing (I haven't gotten to them yet!), their banana pudding is addictive and they have a nice selection of breakfasty baked goods that are perfect for an early morning. Definitely worth checking out!

Breakfast at Little Dom's in Los Feliz?

Just had breakfast at Little Dom's this weekend and it's terrific. Great outside tables, cool breakfast drinks and all the good LD fare but also breakfast pizza, yummy frittatas and AMAZING breakfast focaccia. Anyone else tried it?

What happened to Eat a Pita on Fairfax?

It appears that Eat a Pita on Fairfax is closed, despite saying they're open 364 (?) days a year. Does anyone know the scoop?

NY Style Deli Sandwiches - Where are you?

I was just reading a past post about the Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich so ubiquitous to the New York street cart and started fantasizing about heading to my corner deli and picking up a hot ham and cheese on a french roll or a Cubano brimming with salty pork, cheese and pickles pressed right in front of me. Is there any place like that out here? A one stop shop where you can get a fabulous, ooey gooey melty sandwich of your choice, along with some delicious chips and a soda to boot? Don't need (or want) anything fancy, just looking for a great place to drop by (with picky SO in tow,) pick up fabulous treats for the beach or a car trip and finish by licking the paper because the sandwich was THAT good. Any advice Chowhounds?

Thank you!

Authentic Italian food in Los Angeles?

La Buca on Melrose is good. It is owned and run by Italians, so it's pretty authentic. Plus, there is no corkage!

Release my inner vampire: Craving for garlic (not Zankou)

The roast chicken at Versailles left me tasting garlic for days.

How's the Lobster in Santa Monica? (read LA Times review today)

i've been to the lobster twice - my first and last time. the food was overpriced, it was crowded with tons of tourists and we had a beautiful view of the roof next door. if you're looking for good seafood, ambiance or a view, definitely try elsewhere.

ISO Notable Prix-Fixe Menus

the sunday supper at dominick's is simple and great and only $15 for 3-courses. $10 bottles of wine. fun and casual and a steal for a sunday night.

Top Chef, Season 2 - no more Katie Robot!

Gail Simmons is the special projects person at the magazine, so i'm not sure how that qualifies her to be a judge.
