Best homemade Salami / dried sausage in NYC?
While some may throw a tantrum for suggesting it, the internet can save you time and money. I like Creminelli packed in wax paper. Aux Delices des Bois is vacuum packed, but I don't think they store it for long periods of time before a sale. There are many other brands I have not tried.
OK!!!! Who has the BEST Hot Dogs in Coney Island...... and Knishes?????
Don't they charge $3.50 for a frank. I can't bring myself to pay more than Manhattan prices in Brooklyn. And it's not even on the Boardwalk. I don't mind tourists and the fans of competitive food eating having their fun.
3 nights in NYC
There are more than 3 nights worth of stuff to due so you might specify what else you will be doing.

Riding the #7 train out to queens, where it is elevated above roof top height, would also be an interesting trip which is convenient from mid town.
Ate at Italian restaurant this weekend and they only offered bottled water - sparkling or flat
Sounds like a great way to keep the small spenders out of your establishment. It would be classier to do a Prix Fixe meal that included any type of water you wanted.
Visiting NYC from CA - need help planning a day trip to the Burroughs!
I suggest 7 train to 82nd street and walk back under the tracks. There are few elevated trains in the world and the stations have a turn of the 20th centry look and sound. There are many places to eat on the street directly under the tracks and the parallel street one block north. I would say just walk and see which places look interesting, have a decent number of local people in them and buy something that sounds good. There are also piles of posts on the area.
Brooklyn bridge marriott area
Fascati Best pizza by the slice in the area. Also Govinda's Lunch Club Hare Krishna Temple - 305 Schermerhorn Street. Atlantic and court street have a bunch of places. Mile end is close enough.

Coney Island Ave near Ave J has various kosher places, a few upscale that serve drinks. I am no expert but they looked good from the outside. You should walk down ave J there are a few liquor stores, they might have good ideas for bars.
GREAT FOOD AND LOTS OF FUN: NYC 10/20-10/26: IF PRICE WAS NOT A CONSIDERATION....

Best Brooklyn Pizza (or Must Eat Brooklyn Staples)!
Where will you be? Spending hours traveling to get 2 slices makes no sense. Fascati is close to the Brooklyn Bridge so that is a plus. You should be more specific on where you will be.

Sunset Park/Brooklyn
Good deli/Jewish food. - Take the B or Q train to Avenue J. Near the station is the infamous DiFara Pizza. Walk to Coney Island Ave to find a collection of Orthodox Jewish food businesses. Please note they are closed Fri sundown to Sat Sundown and do not appreciate immodestly dressed women in their stores (Katz on the other hand does not care how you dress).
Good deli/Jewish food. - 13th ave between New Utrecht and 36th street. B train to New Utrecht or F/G to Church ave. 13ave is the "high street" of the very orthodox Jewish Boro park.
Polish or other Eastern European food,- Greenpoint and Manhattan, G train Greenpoint, is the center of Gravity. Noteworthy is Brighton beach near coney island, look up posts.
American food? Look up BBQ. Michell's Fish and Chips or is it Michell's Soul food on Vanderbilt near the botanical garden and Brooklyn Museum.
There is also Caribbean and South Asian if that is what you want. Plus some Chinese. You can do South American and Chinese in Sunset park as the ethnic areas are close to each other.

? ie. something I would not find in Quebec?
I don't know Quebec.
Brooklyn has a large Caribbean community. An upscale restaurant is http://sugarcanerestaurant.com. Along Flatbush are many smaller establishments. Look up roti and jerk chicken.
There are some southern, soul food, or african american restaurants. try Mitchell Fish & Chips, which while inexpensive is a nice little 'sit down' restaurant, with an excellent tin ceiling if I remember.
Additionally there are many middle eastern along Atlantic Ave. and other places.
Russian/Eastern European at coney island
Jewish in Boro Park.
David's Brisket House might interest you.
There are also South Asia Bangladeshi and Pakistani If that interests you.

French person coming to NYC for the first time - I made a list for him
Just get a Zagats, I think there is one in French.
French person coming to NYC for the first time - I made a list for him
The restaurants are all over the place so it is not clear how realistic it is. I would not suggest going to DiFara just for a slice, too much time wasting. You might start with, where will (s)he be staying and what areas of the city are of interest. It is also not clear what the person is interested in. Some people are curious about pancakes or cupcakes.

Vegetarian Tasting Menus?
Govinda's Kitchen 305 Schermerhorn st. Brooklyn.
$10 for styrofoam plate of everything. Another $5 or so will get you each desert. Beverage and Hindu religious music included. Best damn Harri Krishna restaurant in NYC. As far as that Open Table Check, don't know.
Restaurants on either side of the Brooklyn Bridge
With no other criteria I would say Fascati pizza. Also on Henry are a bunch of more posh places, but for me Fascati is the one.
On the Manhattan side try Hop Shing for Pork buns.
2 pork buns $1.80(eat while walking), and 2 slices $5.

Staying @ The Warwick NY in Manhattan - First time in NYC! Is Arthur Avenue worth the trip?
I think your hotel is in the 50s so you will not be able to venture that far into Brooklyn. Sams's is the only place I know that might fit the bill for you.

more Brooklyn Fairway disappointment
They seem to have contentiously planned to go from a destination to a neighborhood supermarket. Their prices reflect a lack of competition, people no longer have the money to spend, and increased cost of the items to Fairway. The lack of selection might indicate that their upscale customers are being squeezed and are no longer buying certain items. The last time I rode my bicycle there from Ocean Parkway where I live I found their salt section had shrunk down to just a few items. Maybe it is back but I now look to the internet for all such items, including cheese, as I can no longer know for sure what will be in Fairway before I trek out there. As a neighborhood market it is fine and I would shop there, I don't think it is fair to complain that they are not catering to infrequent shoppers looking for items that rarely sell.
As a final note one draw to the area for me was LeNell's Likker store which is gone.

7 days of eating in NYC
If you want to get out of Manhattan take the Number 7 train out to Queens, where is it elevated above roof height. Check out the suggestions on Chow for what is interesting out there, or just take the 7 back.
Sustainable pork in brooklyn?
Talk to your local butcher, they will try to help.
Try the farmers markets.
uddermilk.com might also be able to help you.
Best Mithai (Indian Sweets) in Brooklyn?
CIA is more Pakistani/South Asian. Church at McDonald are Bangla. Try Gourmet Sweets located near the large Makki Mosque.

Appetizing in Brooklyn
appetizing, I think you mean appetizers. On Atlantic are a number of Arab/Middle Eastern Places. Sahadi's is the most famous, but there are many choices if yo walk up and down Atlantic Avenue. Trader Joe's is probably the easiest to get everything done in one shot. Smith street also has many places. On Union and Henry is Mazzola Bakery, buy the lard bread, and other seasoned breads and cut them up.

Cabbage Strudel in Brooklyn/Queens?
M&I International at Brighton beach sells cabbage turnovers. You might also ask at bakeries, they might be able to make one special.
"Obscure" ethnic eats
Flatbush from Parkside ave south has many Caribbean places. I like Scoops vegetarian 'Ital' type cuisine, it only has a counter, no tables. Anyway you can walk down Flatbush there are food stores every block for miles.
13th ave brooklyn and Coney Island Ave and ave J have many Jewish places, most are delies making sampling easy. Difara pizza is on J near CIA and the subway, which is elevated at that point.
See Russian food for Brighton beach suggestions.
If you walk down Coney Island Ave from I guess Caton ave on south there are many Pakistani places.
Almost as a joke I will suggest Bonnie's Grill as 'Upstate New York" food.
Brooklyn Pizza Survey — Cut Short
I only ate there once, it was a wonderful experience all aspects of the place considered, but based on my single experience the actual pizza was not the best in Brooklyn.
Where to Get Groceries in Kensington?
On 4th and 18th avenue is an eastern European super market called Red or Big Apple.
Shop rite on McDonald is the largest supermarket in the area.
One CIA there are a few supermarkets. If you walk as far as Avenue J there are a number of kosher food stores, The Orchard fruit store is notable and expensive.
On 13th avenue there are a number of kosher food stores.
Cortelyou between CIA and Flatbush there are some places notably "The Market" cheese and bread store and The Flatbush food Coop and on Flatbush a Caribbean bakery I like for their bread.
Uddermilk.com is an interesting delivery service.
A large south Asian community means those spices are cheap and fresh.
Bringing my Mom to NYC...
Take the number 7 train out to Queens, it is elevated outside of Manhattan so it is as close to the Disney monorail NYC has. Read posts about what to do in Queens, lots of cheap choices. Getting of at any of the Roosevelt ave stops will give you many options. It is easy to navigate the streets as you can just look for the elevated train tracks.
