Was I hallucinating or did I see pole dancing at the bar the last time I was in?

UpRoot Restaurant
9 Mt. Bethel Road, Warren, NJ 07059
Quinta Bistro in Flemington
Definitely put it on your to try list. Had a very good meal last week. Everything ranked above average. App: Crispy Calamari with cornmeal picante and smoked paprika & Almond. A nice change to deep fried heavy servings. $9-. Autumn Caprese. with reduced balsamic vinegar. Very nice! $7-. Entrée: Chicken Madeira. Above average for $17-.
I agree with ESJRO. Service was not there yet. This goes for the Hostess, waiter and server! Seemed inexperienced and a bit nervous. The food product is very good. A friendly comment to the owner/chef can go a long way. The owner has a lot invested in a restaurant and needs and appreciates constructive criticism on things that may be hurting them without the owner realizing it.
Confirming, it is a BYOB
Anyone been to Alice's Restaurant, Lake Hopatcong lately??
David Drake is still the main man at Alice's, but call to confirm he's there the night you want to go.
Where should a food writer and a chef meet in NJ for dinner
It might be easier if your honed in on a desired location/region first, maybe a county?
Soho on George (New Brunswick) Closed
We would go to SoHo everytime we'd go to the State Theatre. 1 1/2 weeks ago we went to see Penn and Teller and tried to make reservation at SoHo. Couldn't understand why they wouldn't pick up their phone. Oh, so sad. I really liked that place. Extremely comfortable, great bar, great food, great value and very good service. We'll miss it. Would love to know where the owners and talent are going. The space will be filled soon due to it's above average location in New Brunsiwck. Good luck!
Sunday Morning Breakfast in New Brunswick?
I think the diner recommendation is a good one. There is also a fairly decent diner on Easton Ave on the way into New Brunswick near the McDonalds. I forget the name.
If you want New Brunswick proper, consider The Hyatt or the Heldrich hotels. Both open around 6:30 A.M. for breakfast.
90 acres
Forklaw, thanks! I also found out if you spell out 90 (ninety) you get the majority of posts.
Since I posted the original request, I did have the opportunity to dine there and found it to be wonderful. Had drinks on the back patio and my table was ready promptly at my reservation time (on a weekend evening!) I originally asked for an 8:00 reservation and they told me the earliest would be 9:00 but would put me on a wait list for 8:00. They called me 3 times the week of the reservation to tell me they were still trying for the 8:00. I've never had a restaurant do that before. As it turned out, they were able to accommodate my party of 4 @ 8:00 at a great table no less. The food and service were top notch. I felt everything was priced fairly. I'll return.

Ninety Acres at Natirar
2 Main St, Peapack-Gladstone, NJ 07931
Blue Bottle Cafe, Hopewell NJ
I went last week to BB to pay my last respects to menu 17. If they never change the menu again that would be all right by me. It was wonderful!!
I started out having the pan seared foie gras which was to die for. Think how hard it is to pan sear foie gras... it's like searing butter, it just pretty much all fat. It was delicious... best I've had. My wife had the asparagus soap. Not a drop left!
For the main course I had the sea scallops, expertly prepared and she had the fabulous pork chops. Service was delightful & professional as usual (thank you Ashley).
I wish Aaron and Rory a well deserved break and see you in a month or so!
Due Mari or Daryl Wine Bar for birthday dinner?
I'm a little impartial to Due Mare since David Drake left Daryl's. Miss his presence
Lunch/Dinner in Flemington [moved from LA]
I 2nd Ambrose's recommendations. FYI, both are byob, as all restaurants on Main street, Flemington are. :(
National Hotel in Frenchtown
First time I think I've seen 20+ responses and no review of the restaurant! Anyway, I did have a chance to dine at the National Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Their menu appeals to quite a wide variety of people (see website http://www.thenationalhotelnj.com/) due to the number of items they offer. I had the Braised Short Ribs and they were very, very good. ($19.00!) along with a roasted beet salad ($8.00) and a side of sauteed Brussel sprouts ($4.00). Wine by the glass was very good and only put us back $7.00 - $8.00 a glass. My partner had the filet mignon and had high praise for it.
The refurb is very well done. The dinning room is very comfortable and cozy.
The wait staff was a bit inexperienced, but I'll give him an "A" for trying.
I'll definitely return... great value for very good food and drink!
90 acres
Hi, I heard good things about the relatively new restaurant in Peapack Gladstone called 90 acres. Has anyone eaten there who can share a point of view. Thanks.
Looking for Dinner Recs in New Brunswick
As JoanN stated, Pithar is still there, remember, it's a BYO.
Others to consider, without knowing your price range...
Due Mari $$$
Frog & Peach $$$$
Daryl"s $$$ (same owner as David Drake in Rahway... an up and comer!)
Panico's $$$
SoHo on George $$ (a favorite back-up of mine)
Restaurant for Monday Lunch in Lambertville/New Hope?
60's girl: so glad it worked out. You can't beat the location, and I know it would have been a relatively safe bet for lunch. Thanks for the follow-up. Now where do you want to go? lol
Restaurant for Monday Lunch in Lambertville/New Hope?

Options in North Brunswick, by the movies...
Visited the Vietnamese restaurant (Pho 99) for lunch and was quite impressed. Extremely well decorated and very clean. Servers were very attentive. The Vietnamese Egg Rolls were awesome!!
I agree about Mio, been there a few times and have been the only one in the restaurant. When I ate at Pho 99, drove past and it was empty!
Max's Bistro (Flemington) Closed
Rumor has it the people that own the Cafe California (Lebanon) are involved. Not substantiated though. I personally will miss Max's. Although kinda went down over the last few years. In it's hay day, it was very good.
Gordon Ramsay in Whitehouse Station
I passed this restaurant yesterday and it is now called "Junction". Probably a play on the fact that it is next to a railroad station. Be interesting to see how they do.
Spain 92
Any new words of advise on Spain 92 on 202? Going there this evening with friends. Haven't been there in awhile. Thanks.
NJ Farmhouse Restaurant?
Thanks Compare. It is Lorraine & Paul that I'm referring to. I believe they are no longer involved with the Grand Colonial.
NJ Farmhouse Restaurant?
My guess it's the Perryville Inn! It's owned and operated by a couple. (Although it does have the word "Inn" in it)
anyone been to artisan kitchen in lebanon central jersey?
Unfortunately I don't have the same enthusiasm as some regarding the Artisan Kitchen. I recently had dinner there and found the food very good but extremely expensive. the service however was very poor. The woman that waited on us disappeared for quite some time, and often, during the meal, which is difficult to do considering the small size of the restaurant.
Being a BYO we brought a bottle of chard which they kept chilled out of site of our table. Knowing we had quite a bit left in the bottle at the conclusion of our dinner, we had to asked for the bottle... not once, but three times. Gee, I wonder what they do with the wine when patrons forget and don't ask??? Happy Staff!!!! Didn't seem like a coincidence. Anyway, price, service and wine donations... won't be back. (this is a copy of my reply to another post requesting info about the Artisan Kitchen in November)
