Ideal Coffee in Leslieville/Beaches
Doors locked, bailliff notices on the doors as of November 12th...Is the location in Kensington still open?...I know they did a lot of their bulk roasting at Queen East...
St. Catherines
Heading to St. Catherines this weekend for both Friday and Saturday nights...any suggestions for a good local pub with decent pub grub?
Thanks!
The Pie Shack - Beach
Popped in there a few days ago and took home two of the chicken pot pies, they are really, really, good...and yes I did have to season them a bit to add more spice but very hearty, nice pastry...I've been back three or four times since to pick up a pie and they have been sold out every time...I've stopped telling people about the place because there's no point in sending anyone there if they can't keep product in stock, the second time I went in, they were were sold out, he gave me a sandwich for free which was really, really nice, the third time same thing, I declined...I work at a pub a few blocks away and wanted to pick something up for after my shift...anyway, really, really frustrating...I was at work tonight and a friend whom I recommended to the place texted me at work to say she was there, I called her right away to see if they had any pot pies there hoping she could drop one off...but again, sold out...this was at 8:00pm, what's the point of staying open late if you don't have any product?...In any case, it's a great spot when they actually have some stuff but until they sort the supply problem out, I won't be sending any of my regulars down the street to them...and Pete, if you're reading this because I noticed you had 'Chowhound' printouts on your table the other night, it's Marc, the lacrosse guy...
Leaside reccomendations?
Moving to Leaside in two weeks and wondering what the resto scene is like around Bayview souh of Eglington. I did a search but it seems like there are quite a few places opening and/or closing on that strip. Any tips on where to avoid? I noticed a pub type place the other day that I drove past, Originals, is this a sports bar type place? Anyway, any info much appreciated.
Michelles Beach House
Space is now up for lease, I noticed the sign a couple of days ago and took a peek inside tonight, most of the furniture is still there as are the fish tanks. Looks like the teneants just walked away. Does anyone know if Michelles Brasserie is still open or under the same owner?
Chinese close to Jarvis and Wellesley
Can anyone recommend a Chinese resto within say a fifteen or twenty minute walk from Jarvis & Wellesley? It's like I'm almost dead center between Chinatown Spadina and Chinatown Gerrard but both are just a bit too far if I just want to run out the door and eat rather than ordering in. And yes, my family is still visiting and thanks for the late night reccos for coffee spots where I can study...
24 hour coffee shops in downtown Toronto - Please Help!
Waaay too many drunks after a certain hour....I should know, I've been one of them at one time or another...
24 hour coffee shops in downtown Toronto - Please Help!
Thanks so much! I would prefer a straight up coffee shop rather than 7West as it can get a little loud in there...Thanks to everyone for your help!
24 hour coffee shops in downtown Toronto - Please Help!
Oh lordy, please help, I have family visiting in town and I have a lot of studying to do. Doesanyne know of any not too sketchy 24 coffee shops around say Ryerson from Dundas to Bloor and University to Sherbourne? A place that doesn't frown too much on students drinking copious amounts of coffee for a few hours? Even something that's open until around 3:00am is good as well.
Thanks!
Michelle's Brasserie in Yorkville Question
Chef Derrick is no longer there and hasn't been for a while, as such the quality of food has unfortunately suffered.
Dine.TO new food writers and changes?
Never mind Dine.TO, how about Toronto Life? Obviously Chatto is for real but if you were a visitor to Toronto and picked up a copy of their dine out magazine, you would assume that their 'best of' was a true reflection of the scope of choices we have in Toronto...NOT...The reviews are a reflection of which venues have paid for advertising with Toronto Life...period...
The Rosebud
The building has been up for sale for years, Mr Pong still owns it. Rod is all over the map as well. He's getting married this summer and has been speaking openly about mving to New York to follow his new wife to be and her new job, he's never actually cooking at the Rosebud anymore, hasn't for quite some time, just comes in the back, puts on his whites and works the customers so they feel like he was the chef on stove that night. How good is the info? Really, really good without getting any of hisstaff in trouble.
The Rosebud
The Rosebud is up for sale sadly, Chef Bowers hasn't actually cooked there for quite a while spending most of his time at the Citizen.
