Best place to buy raw carne asada and fresh tortillas near Miracle Mile?
I'm looking to grill this afternoon and want to buy some good carne asada (and other grill-suitable meats) and fresh tortillas for tacos. I'd like to avoid a huge drive, but don't mind a little mileage for quality's sake. Any recommendations?
Ready for Koreatown 201
After 30-odd years with literally no Korean food in my life, I've spent my first year in L.A. learning the basics of Korean food. I've done bimbimbap and Kyochon and BBQ. I've developed opinions on banchan (more places should serve the tiny dried fish). I feel like I've passed Koreatown 101.
Still, I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of Korean food, and find the sheer number of joints in Koreatown to be overwhelming. So, help me out. What's next? What are some dishes and places to take my knowledge to the next level?
(I love spicy food, am adventuresome in my eating and am certainly not a vegetarian. I don't mind spending money but love holes-in-the-wall. I know absolutely no Korean.)

Anyplace to get a cholado?
I've just learned about the delicious-looking dessert/drink called the "cholado." Does anyone know where to find one in Los Angeles? Failing that, is there something similar I should get to fill this new-born craving?
(For those not in the know, Wikipedia defines a cholado:
Cholado or Raspao is a cold beverage common in Colombia. It is made from crushed ice, fruit and/or fruit syrup, sweetened condensed milk, and is sometimes topped with whipped cream. )
Planning a one-day "little bites" tour of L.A.
My brother is visiting me in L.A. for the first time next weekend, and as part of my campaign to get him to move here I'm making next Saturday as complete a food tour of L.A. as I can manage. What I'd like to do is go to as many places as possible, sampling as many kinds of cuisine as we can without breaking our wallets or busting our guts. Recommend your favorite L.A. snacks, please, especially from cool little ethnic spots. We're plenty adventurous. We'll be based in West Hollywood but of course will be driving all over the place.
To give you an idea of what I mean, here's the start of my list (these are some of my favorites and are non-negotiable, so I'm looking to add to them).:
A drumstick at Kyochon
A paleta at Paletería La Michoacana.
A mulita at La Taquiza
Hojaldra at La Flor de Yucatan
Al pastor taco from El Taurino
Cooking with fresh rice noodles?
I've got a bag of unrefrigerated flat rice noodles that i just picked up from a Thai grocer and am going to stir fry tonight. I've heard that fresh rice noodles can be hard to handle. Any tips or tricks for cooking with them?

OK, on this trip I found them. They're in a wire rack across the aisle from the refrigerated noodles. Now, we'll see if I can cook with them.

I'm moving to West Hollywood (half a block from the corner of Santa Monica and Formosa) soon. Fill me in on the local food scene! I'm not looking so much for "best of LA" in general (I've read several of the massive LA threads). I want to know about my new hood. How are the grocery stores? Where are reliable places to eat within walking distance? Good delivery? Late night spots? Just plain awesome food?

Thanks, everyone. We had grilled sardines (good, but not as good as the ones I had at Al Li Da), foie gras (killer), the cod (good, but not sure I'd order it again) and the rabbit (tasty, especially with the gnocchi and mushrooms).

Allow me to 2nd Egg. It is my humble opinion that New York tends to be a very, very weak breakfast town, but Egg is the real deal. But I haven't been to Clark's yet, and I live pretty close by, so I'll check it out.
