Two Chowhounds from Canada - Boston April 16-22 Sorry to hear of your bad experience at Legal's. I have never had a bad meal there. Which one did you visit? |
|

Flying in for the day! Best Seafood in Boston?? You may also check into Mike's Pastry in the North End on Hanover Street for a lobster tail. It's a flaky pastry with yellow cream, ricotta and whipped cream inside. It's big enough to share. ----- |

What food from Boston area should I bring home to Florida If you are flying back, I believe there is or was a Legal Seafood at Logan Airport, which can pack and ship for your return home. You cannot leave without trying LOBSTAH! |

The Inside Diner- Top 10 West Hartford (CT) Restaurant List- surprised? I don't care for top 10 lists for any reason, however, I have been to the Counter Burger restaurant in Blue Back about 12 times since they opened last year, in fact, they just celebrated one year there. This is a fantastic, high quality burger and they are consistently excellent. They have uncomfortable, modern type chairs, but I sit at the bar and enjoy the vibe. They have a perfectly cooked burger, and very good sides. The staff is very welcoming and the place has a relaxed vibe. The prices are good for the quality. ----- |

What food from Boston area should I bring home to Florida I wil further Salumeria Italiana in the North End. One special item is their fennel salami, which I always pick up when I visit the North End. ----- |

Great Cheap Food in Chinatown needed for my visit I'm hoping for the poster's sake that Noodletown will be open by the time they visit. I have heard that they were closed recently. I hope they're back for soft shell crab season. |

Great Cheap Food in Chinatown needed for my visit NY Noodletown on the Bowery for salt baked chicken and shrimp, bowls of dumpling soup, and Nha Trang on Centre Street for Pho soup, Golden Unicorn on East Broadway for dim sum, and Vietname Bahn Mi So 1 on Grand Street for Pho sandwiches. Make sure to visit Kam Man for their Asian goods, if only to browse. This is the true atmosphere of Chinatown. Also, if it's warm and you would like ice cream, visit Chinatown Ice Cream Factory for a taste of lychee, red bean, coconut and black sesame ice cream. Also, check the street vendors for coconut juice and fruit to snack on. They will very well have some good snack options. For snacks and small eats, visit any of the bakeries. Have fun eating your way through Chinatown. ----- Golden Unicorn Chinatown Ice Cream Factory |

Two Chowhounds from Canada - Boston April 16-22 If you are down in the North End area, check out Galleria Umberto's on Hanover Street, for Sicilian pizza. This is a great stop for a true North End Italian experience. Try Mike's Pastry for a wonderful lobster tail, which is filled with creamy ricotta and mascarpone cheese. At the Red Sox game, you may visit the Cask N Flagon on Brookline Avenue, for Red Sox nostalgia. For seafood, try any of the Legal Seafood restaurants. They're a sure bet. For history, walk the Freedom Trail or part of it in the North End, including visiting the Old North Church, on Salem Street. Have fun at the Marathon and, especially, Fenway Park. Go Sox! ----- Fenway Park |

H & H, crisp exterior with a dense interior. Perfect! I like the pumpernickel, poppy seed with tons of poppy seeds and the everthing, especially. |

Great places for foodies to shop Kalustyan's on Lexington Avenue has lots of wonderful spices. It is Indian/Middle Eastern oriented, but has spices from all over the world in various sizes, along with rice, grains, beans, and great dried goods. Go there for very fresh spices. Visit Dean and Deluca on Broadway in SoHo for a fantastic selection of gourmet goods. Visit H & H bagels for fantastic bagels. Visit DiPalo's in Little Italy for all types of Italian goods from all regions of Italy, especially great cheeses. Did you visit Zabar's housewares deparment for cooking items? Their prices are the best and the selections are unsurpassed. Visit Katz's for amazing pastrami. Visit the Union Square Greenmarket for amazing varieties of all types of produce, cheeses, breads, seafood and meat. Have a great time in the city. Ciao. ----- Union Square Greenmarket Met Grill |

May Ball game trip to Camden Yards I am coming to Baltimore with a group for a ballgame at Camden Yards, and I would like recommendations for the Inner Harbor area/Little Italy/Fells Point area, including all types of restaurants, including upscale to budget/ethnic. I am also interested in any brew houses and sporting type of bars/restaurants in the area. I wonder what types of fresh fish is available in May because I would really like to try new seafood and I am adventurous in that respect. I would appreciate all recs. Thanks very much in advance. |

Best burger - need some advice I have been to Burger Joint several times and I enjoy their burger, however, they are so busy and crowded that I need to take my burger to go, because I can never get a seat there. I do not care for their old fashioned white bun, but I do like their straightforward approach to burgers, and as I like my burgers cooked medium rare, they do a good job with it. I like a nice brioche roll with burgers. You just have to take your burger to go, so I go to Central Park and eat it there. Their burgers are reasonable and worth it.The fries are ok ----- |

Please Read - Best Big Burger in NYC Try 5 Napkin Burger. The burger is 10 oz of ground chuck ground several times a day, so it's very fresh. You can order medium rare, my perfect choice, and it will be perfect medium rare. They will also prepare rare if requested. The toppings are wonderful, like bacon and Cheddar cheese, and are a great addition. The fries are very good, but this place is all about the burger. The burger is very quicy, you will need SOME of those 5 napkins..and best of all, the burger is very reasonable. Enjoy, and report back to us. Ciao. |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? To me, Umberto's is the better of the two experiences, since having been a resident of the North End and knowing this great family and their wonderful pizza, to me this is what the neighborhood is all about. My posts are not meant to put anyone "over the edge"! I agree they are two totally different experiences and I await the visitor's post. |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? How seriously do you take food? What is your favorite restaurant in Boston? |
|

Best burger - need some advice I will third this. The burgers are great. They use ground chuck which is ground several times a day. The medium rare is cooked perfectly and is a 10 oz. big fat juicy burger. You can walk in and they also take reservations. Mangia! |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? I think the term "foodie" is a bit overused and vague on these boards. Define yourself and what you think a "foodie" is. You say that Legals is unexciting to you, and things are "overcooked", and that you say, is, and the key word is "YOUR TASTE". Everyone has different tastes but there are proper ways to prepare seafood and Legals does not miss. For you, it seems to be UNEXCITING, which underscores my point that there is more to eating out than the meal itself. It is fine that Legals is BORING to you, but I do not need to be entertained and their presentation to me is just fine. Evertime I visit there, I am satisfied. Food does not need to be presented spectacularly to WORK. And it does. |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? That's your opinion. Daily Catch is a bit too crowded for me. ----- |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? What restaurant do YOU think is the best seafood restaurant in Boston? And, by the way, I don't agree with kwdeb on anything they posted. |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? You said it, about the quality, and it is always consistent quality. What is your favorite seafood restaurant? |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? What place would that be? |

Must Go To Boston Restaurants? Hi, Panchy. Fellow female here. Thanks for your comments about your trip. I was not offended by your opinion about Legals. I go way back with them. I hope you enjoy your trip and report back. I await your experiences. If you are in the North End, I also recommend Caffe Vittoria, on Hanover Street, which has wonderful Italian coffee, pastries and gelato. Ciao. ----- |
