New Bourdain Show on CNN
Read this on Eater LA
It's official: Anthony Bourdain is leaving the Travel Channel behind and is headed to CNN. It's the end of No Reservations, the Emmy award-winning series that has run for eight seasons (the premiere was July 25, 2005). Bourdain tweeted that the production company Zero Point Zero will come along for the ride: "Moving with same ZPZ crew over to CNN to do another world travel show. Congo? Libya? Finally?"
It was confirmed from ZPZ that the current season of No Reservations on Travel Channel will be its last; currently the second season of The Layover is in production and will air on the Travel Channel. Reached for comment, Bourdain tells Eater: "Same production team, same amazing crew, same me--but the world just got a whole lot bigger."
"Jamie's Meals in Minutes"
Please American TV rips off every good UK and AU show there is. Cough cough Elementary.
Is Evoo copyrighted or is it trademarked I get the two mixed up? not that anyone should use it.
Pat Riley trademarked Three-peat so who knows.
If a meal takes 30 minutes to cook how else can you say it? 3MM?
Ketchup Lovers: Super Slippery Ketchup Bottles On The Horizon
I Just watched a segment on this and read your link and thought it is a great invention.
Just thinking out loud do you think an additive or chemical added to the bottle versus the condiment is less or more likely to be scrutinized?
I'm craving...
Oysters. I have a firm belief that Oysters are like Pancakes ...they taste better when someone prepares them for you. I have made/shucked both my self and I stick with true love is a pancake and a shucked oyster ...not at the same time:)
In N Out Burger question for a newbie
In and Out makes a good Fast Food Burger. They use good ingredients and make to order. They are not the end all of burgers you can get a much better one at a local Brewpub (though it will cost you more)
I like an "Animal" style Double Double with extra crispy fries. Animal Style burgers include pickles, extra spread, grilled onions, and mustard fried onto each meat patty.
Come Dine With Me
ITV studios and BBC Worldwide were supposed to bring an American version of the show to American TV. Not sure what channel it would air on and I could not find a date. Also the press release mentioning it is dated Aug. 2010.
here's a copy of a blurb from what I read
Featuring participants from the New York metropolitan area, Come Dine With Me (US) is based on ITV Studios' popular UK format which follows amateur chefs competing for the title of the ultimate dinner party host. Each episode brings together four strangers who take turns cooking up their idea of the perfect evening. Each competitor then rates the host's performance and the winner is lauded the 'ultimate dinner party host' and awarded a hefty prize.
I believe the latest BBC version ended Last month so that may start airing soon on BBC America.
Masterchef Australia vs Masterchef US
May 6th. Masterchef NZ is also currently running.
ROADTRIP from SD to Austin Texas
In Tucson I would recommend Feast

and Beyond Bread
http://www.beyondbread.com/
That's just from when I was there
Anyone watch Portlandia the TV show skewer foodies? (possible spoiler)
LOL and not laughing with you. I was walking down the street with my friend the other day and there was a couple at an outside table. They had two cans of Shlitz on the table. My friend was like why are those guys drinking shlitz? I replied because they are cool :) those two Shlitz cost them as much as a really good micro brew (which is sadly hipster as well). Post hipster conceit? Hipsters are still funny as hell.....and making fun of someone in skinny jeans and a wool cap in July is funny.
Favorite food podcasts?
Mike and Tom eat snacks
This is the official website for Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, the podcast where your hosts Michael Ian Black and Tom Cavanagh eat, discuss, and rate snacks.
just because Michael Ian Black is funny as hell....and they eat snacks
Whats your favorite "Reality" Food Show and why?
That's why I put Reality in "" yet I am hooked yeah 3/4 of the winners promised a restaurant as a prize close down but there are success stories.
http://www.stephanieizard.com/
http://www.voltaggiobrothers.com/
and others
Thinking of it.... the success rate probably is close to the real world.
Whats your favorite "Reality" Food Show and why?
Chopped for me depends on the episode but agree. Just think the judges are too coached.
Next Food Network Star has a SD contestant this upcoming season so will watch for the home team. :)
Sweetbreads
I will second Cowboy Stars Sweetbreads. 2nd or 3rd best I have had. 1st goes to Babbo and debatable 2nd or 3rd is Eiderdown in KY.
Whats your favorite "Reality" Food Show and why?
Just curious and maybe I'll get turned on to a show I have not seen yet.
1) My restaurant Rules - Australia. 2005 so it is old but I'm currently watching the second season and loving it.
2) Michel Roux's Service -UK. love Michel Roux great to see a service related show.
3) Master Chef AU - Australia. Still the best version of MC in my opinion. Always pull great guest judges and I like the tone.
Runners up Top Chef and The F word season 5 "A fifth series premiered on 3 November 2009 on Channel 4.[13] The series focused on a search for "Britain's best local restaurant"
Where to eat, when you don't have to pay? I.e. it's the corporate tab.
I would do Addison or kitchen 1540 with the new chef and call in advance to see if they can do a tasting menu or something special. This is just me thinking out loud here Kaito sushi $120 per head would rock (you could probably get away with $80 and still eat to your hearts content)..... Personally I would rent a limo and drive to OC and go to The Studio or drive to LA and do the chefs choice at INK or Animal but staying in SD I would go with the first three
Addison
Kitchen 1540
or Kaito
The chef at The Hotel Del Coronado 1500 Ocean has received many accolades just have not eaten his food myself ..though the Hotel is a landmark and beautiful.

A day in the life on HULU - Mario Batali
A day in the Life on HUZLU (Docu - celebrity series by Morgan Spurlock) features Mario Batali this week and Stephanie Izard from Top Chef next episode.
I found it pretty interesting. just wanted to give a heads up.
Anyone Enjoying "The Supersizers" on the Food Network?
Thanks for the heads up I will check it out. It's on The Cooking Channel
http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/the-supersizers-go/index.html
Anyplace that sells Rabbit in SD
Looking for Rabbit for a recipe. Would love if I could find it in North County but any place would be helpful.
I know I can find it online but was trying to avoid that if possible.
Thanks:)
Guahan Grill
Good place. My sisters husband is Filipino so we get great Lumpia when ever our families get together and Guahan Grill's lumpia are a close second.
Do you Yelp? (Moved from Kentucky & Tennessee board)
Yeah also use it for navigation. Whats in the area I'm staying. Then do my own research via CH or other sources.
Forbes Magazine "Best chains 2011"
I agree with The Texas Roadhouse. At least the one I frequented in KY. $25 for a salad, Perfectly cooked Ribeye and a KY Ale on tap.
Top Chef Really Important Things To Do Before You Start the Show
IMPORTANT TIP #2: Have that person you hired as your Pastry Chef teach you one good dessert recipe you can memorize and have under your belt. If time permits spend a day making souffle. These will give you a leg up on most others if you need to use them.
Looking for Sonoran Hot Dogs in San Diego, ideally North County
Los Taco in Oceanside usually has them on their black board menu. They switch back and forth between these and TJ Dogs.
Not on the printed menu so I would give them a call first.
Los Tacos

RIP Naomi Wise
That's sad. Though it wasn't my go to bible I've been reading the SD Reader since HS. Thoughts and Prayers to her family.
No spoon rule at Underbelly
Oh it doesn't bother me at all. I just find it funny and I do think it is a gimmick in this case.
it shouldn't be taken as a more authentic or non-authentic way to eat Ramen.
No spoon rule at Underbelly
I think it lends towards gimmick. Like you said in Japan and other countries there is no problem with a spoon. Unless you go by the "Ramen Laws" of the movie Tampopo...but that is a comedy.
Hipster credibility check list
"Hey lets not have a sign on our building" No Sign ...Check (two years after that died away in LA)
"Hey lets not "Allow" Ketchup on our Burgers" "We serve Ramen not burgers"
"Oh right...Hey lets not have spoons" Check
Carnitas tacos/burritos
OK way out of your way but if you find yourself in North County I would say
Mariscos Ensenada
1405 S El Camino Real # 109B, Oceanside, CA 92054
I love carnitas and most of the time they are too
greasy. This place does it right. Tender, full of flavor, everything carnitas should be.
I know others will give you great recs closer to you but again if up this way check them out.
As seen on TV cooking Gizmo, what is your funnest / worse thing you have seen?
Here's one from 1994 for a "great way" to debone fish. I'll let them tell you the name.
