Culver City - Sunkist Park (near Target and BBB, etc.)

Yeah, institutional size cans of tuna as decoration on shelves. The only thing that gets better with age on those shelves are the sardines. But I do like getting a great deal on yerba mate there.

1.5 miles as the crow flies, going up Sepulveda/Sawtelle to westward Washington is more like 3.5 miles.

They would make a killing of they modernized that place but kept some of their core sellers like $3.95 large sammies. Clear most of the groceries stock out, get rid of housewares, overhaul the wine section and its pricing(they use restaurant markup, not retail, Paul Masson wine on shelves), bring in more produce from their farms(they carry cardoons in season), update hot case, use gloves when making a sandwich. But Berto isn't the business man his dad Albert was so nothing is going to change. He's sitting on millions already and doesn't see the need to do anything.

That has always been my complaint about their food, the under-seasoning, but I think that has to do with owner's palate. But everyone in that family, who are BTW Egyptian, is very nice and friendly and if you ask them they will probably adjust seasoning for you. They make their own hot sauce too

Jerry's Deli Westwood closed

I think the server who worked at both places and physically spent decades at both restaurants would be the better source, don't you?

SLUH 86, although I lived close to you in Creve Coeur. No, I don't like Imo's but all my friends have to get it when in town. I go for the other STL food treats. I remember Nino's and Via's, liked Farotto's and Two Nice Guys, and this one place in North County that was awesome. Used to work at Talayna's across from Wash U. Haven't lived there in 25 years and only return sporadically so don't know any places nowl

Will have to try this place out, always on the lookout for places that remind me of Lion's Choice and Ted Drewes. Lickety Split in Bev Center did not come close to STL frozen custard. Last time I was back I had to do Lion's Choice and Steak and Shake runs rather than Imo's.

Nosh, where did you go to high school? (inside joke)
