Naha,Blackbird,Perennial or Aigre Doux

Oh my, I don't even want to give you the link to my post on Yelp regarding Aigre Doux. I had a horrible experience there on my birthday. It was more about the service and attitude than the food. Some dishes fantastic, others not so much. They reserve the booths; you're better going early, too, or the noise level is deafening. I've since gone back twice--once with older children, and the owner took them back into the kitchen and made pizza with them. Hard to know which experience you'll get.

I agree that Perennial is the most casual, though if you'd like to try something new, what about Boka? It's the same restaurant group. Yes, it's a bit more adventurous, but there's always something for the more conservative palate. And if you're lucky enough to be there when Giuseppe Tentori is there, you always end up feeling quite special.

Best of luck!

Where to take 8 doctors who are also in grad school?

Apparently I'm stuck trying to find a restaurant for the group in the Back Bay. Any suggestions?

We're going to go to Oleana tomorrow otherwise we'd definitely try 75 Chestnut; it looks really good! I'll add it to my list for next time.

One more to add:

-Stephanie's on Newbury

Please let me know if you've dined at any of the above. Thanks so much!

Where to take 8 doctors who are also in grad school?

Thank you! Since I was already up in the middle of the night, I thought I'd do a little research...any reaction to any of the following?

-Casa Romero
-Brasserie Jo
-Stella's
-DaVinci
-Davio's
-Sonsie
-Via Matta

It seems as though the location of any of the above would work. If this were Chicago, this would be easy, but so hard in a totally unfamiliar city! Thanks again for any help.

Not that they are a picky bunch, quite the contrary, since they are studying all day and night and only in Boston every few weeks for a concentrated period of time. But now I'm trying to organize a group dinner for next week and I don't know Boston at all, so I'd love your help. I don't even know these people--except my spouse!--so I need a couple excellent suggestions. Nothing stuffy or overly fancy. Of course I need to be able to get in on Monday or Tuesday evening. Excellent food and relaxed atmosphere would be ideal.

Many of the people stay in the Back Bay hotels, though they then travel to the Longwood campus for the day.

Appreciate your help!

Looking for Authentic Seafood Experience in Boston

By authentic I mean really casual. Even standing up and lining up. Tomorrow we're heading to Boston, and then Cape Cod...my goal is to avoid the Legal Seafood encounter and try to find where the locals would go along the waterfront. It seems I read about a place like that, but just can't remember the name. Does that sound familiar??

And, any suggestions for good food near Chatham would be much appreciated.

Has anyone tried the Thanksgiving sides at Josie's in Santa Monica?

I'm placing the order from out of town, so I'm not familiar with Josie's. Has anyone tried their cornbread stuffing and/or sausage stuffing? How about their sweet potato puree or their yams with maple syrup?

I'm grateful for the person on this board who offered this suggestion (thank you!), but would love any additional feedback before placing an order for 25 for next Thursday.

Thanks so much for your help!

Too Many Relatives Coming Over for Thanksgiving!

Thank you so much! Those are all good suggestions. Last year I bought the organic turkey at Whole Foods, as well as a number of items at Gelson's and Bristol Farms. Since I'm in Chicago, I'm not able to do the shopping until Wednesday, which as you can imagine is a nightmare. Ideally, I was hoping to find a place, i.e., similar to Joan's on Third, where I could order all the sides/desserts, and just do the turkey. Then I could place the order long-distance. But Joan's, elements in Pasadena, and Clementine's in LA all had deadlines of yesterday...very disappointing!

Does anyone have any suggestions along those lines?

Thanks so much!

Help! Need last-minute gourmet carry out for Thanksgiving!

Thank you! Julienne's and Josie's both look like great suggestions, and there's still time to order at both; hooray! Has anyone tried the cornbread and/or sausage stuffing at Josie's? And, one last question, if Joan's on Third lets me place an order today (even though the deadline was yesterday), what would you suggest between Joan's, Julienne's, and Josie's?

Again, it's hard living in Chicago because I don't know the reputations. Now if anyone visits Chicago, I can totally help you?

Thanks again!

Too Many Relatives Coming Over for Thanksgiving!

They didn't tell me they were coming until today. I can't cook for that many people...I'm in a bind; help! Do you know any place that has excellent, higher-end Thanksgiving menu items for carry out where I can place an order over the weekend? We'll be in the Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks area, but I can always get a messenger to pick up the order.

We'll have about 25 people.

Thanks so much for your help!

Help! Need last-minute gourmet carry out for Thanksgiving!

I'm desperate! We live in Chicago, and we always go to my sister's in the Thousand Oaks area for Thanksgiving. They don't like to cook, so I come out a day early to do all the shopping, prep, and make everything from scratch--from brining the turkey to the pie. But this year our group of eight has now ballooned to 22, and I just found out about this. So I'm in a panic.

Clearly I need gourmet carry out, which is difficult since I'm not as aware of the resources in the LA area. On this site, I found Joan's on Third and Clementine's, but it looks as though the deadline for placing the order was this afternoon. I definitely plan on calling first thing in the morning and shamelessly begging, but in case this is futile, do you have any suggestions?

This is difficult partly because I've set the bar so high in past years. I think the quality needs to be higher end. I could easily still do the turkey if I could find the side dishes. So frustrating because the Joan's menu looked PERFECT (I had trouble with the fonts for Clementine's).

I'd be eternally grateful if anyone has ANY ideas...and I'm not ruling out bribery!

Thanks so much for your help, ideas, suggestions...anything!
