Vendee, specfically Apremont

Thanks for all the advice. I have read much more here on Chowhound now and see that the regional stores will most likely carry anything I could possibly want or imagine. Now on my list of things to get for consumption there or to bring home includes:

Butter (one of my favorite things in the world)
Fois Gras (bringing some canned home, fresh while there)
Truffle (yeah I might splurge if I find some)
Ceramic yogurt pots!
Salt, glorious salt
Cornichon plant seeds for next years patio harvest
Cheese, cheese, cheese!!

Thank you all for the info, ideas and suggestions. Keep them coming. I am as foody as they get so six weeks in France will probably be somewhat life altering.

I make confit quite often and my request for info on duck fat was most likely premature as I know darn well that confit gets better as it ages. If I make a proper confit as soon as I get there it will be edible before I leave ;)

I am so looking forward to weeks of wine, cheese, bread and charcuterie.

That's wonderful information. Thank you so much. Here where I live it's just the opposite. If you want local goods you almost always need to go to a farm market. I will definitely be sure to check out all the local shops. Another question......I have a love for confit. How available is duck fat and what kind of price? Is blood sausage popular as it is in Spain?

Thank you all. I have no problem traveling. I am sure I will spend lots of time in Challans. I will have a car for the six weeks i am intown. Yes, what I mean by grocery store is places like E Leclercs etc. here in canada grocery stores are most convenient but I prefer to spend my money on locally raised produce.

Good morning everyone. So looks like I am heading to Vendee for 6 weeks over the Christmas holiday this year. Any recommendations for butchers, charcuteries, fromageries, etc in and around Apremont?

I'm not a huge fan of commercial grocery stores so would love to find some local shops with prices.

Help - Radisson Cambie

Thanks all I am watching the thread. I will be hitting RR for the brew fest for sure

Help - Radisson Cambie

I have a week in said hotel. I will need some wine, bread, olives, cheese and pate etc for evening snacks. Anywhere nearby that carries this kind of stuff? Also any local brew pubs nearby? TIA
