1 Part Foodie, 2 Parts Children, 10 Parts Hungry

So,

I should mention that I was thrown the idea of "The Old Spaghetti Factory" as a destination initially. I almost fainted at the thought.

After much debate, I coaxed the group to Cafe Diplomatico on College St. I hadn't been there for dinner in AGES, and had fond memories of visiting it as a kid myself. Great choice on my part - and I'm happy I was able to convince the group.

The staff were happy to accomodate our group (indoors, as the patio was full - but when it began to rain, we were happy to be indoors). Everyone (including Mr. Fussy) were happy with their respective meals, and the bill was more than reasonable.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - I would defiinitely suggest "The Dip" if you're in a similar situation.

I've been overruled by an 8yr old - and I'm gutted about it and will be eating something horrendous tonight I'm sure.

I sincerely appreciate all the help and recommendations everyone.

As a side note, Koh San road is fantastic and would have been my ideal choice for thai, but as I mentioned, the 8yr old that has torpedoed my dinner plans (and possibly my appetite) has eliminated anything resembling good/decent food this evening.

Again, thanks to all. I'll update on how the torture went.

Fellow CH's,

I've got a bit of a challenge on my hands. My girlfriend's siblings and their families are in town this evening and I'm at a loss for a location that would accomodate a wide range of tastes, a large group, all on a budget.

Here's the breakdown:

• 8 Adults
• 2 Kids
• 2 of the adults enjoy great food (no limitations)
• 1 child is a fussy eater
• Parents and another couple prefer food on a budget.

I shudder to recommend something along the lines of a chain, but I'm struggling to think of a location that would accomodate all of these requests. Some ideas I had, but would provide their own challenges would be:

• Salad King (pretty good for a large group - but may prove challenging for one child)
• Stockyards (great food - but may not be able to accomodate the entire group)
• Terroni (great food - but may be on the pricy side for some of the members of the party)

Reco's are MORE than welcome ... I'm at a loss...

"The One That Got Away" fish'n'chips...any thoughts?

Lazar,

I live just up the street from it. The Artic Char is a definite buy. I've also had the Shrimp and shared the halibut. Penrose is still phenomenal, so is the stand inside the St. Lawrence (my personal favourite) - but if you get a hankering, I'd say you can't go wrong.

2 Guys + 2 Gals + Fireworks

Hi Everyone,

So, a good friend of mine and I are planning to take two lovely ladies out for dinner on Canada Day for dinner + Fireworks (literally). We're trying to come up with somewhere and I've been racking my brain with no luck.

Here's some of the conditions:

My friend has a severe peanut allergy
We're casual guys (sorry, no Splendido/Bymark-like reco's)
We're fans of the Drake/Brassaii
Somewhere pretty close to the core (or Oakville specifically)

Thanks for all your reco's - I'm out of ideas...

L'unita - where Arlequin used to be

Food is FANTASTIC, I've eaten there twice already... Great service, great atmosphere... A welcome change from Arlequin...
