sauté pan that can double as a deep fryer

Thanks but the main purpose isn't deep frying. I'm keen to do some, but it wouldn't be the primary purpose.

For deep frying, I mean.

So would the 2.6 be big enough for two people? Sorry, I'm not good with measurements.

I don't think I've fried any ten-inch fillets. I'm from New Zealand and now live in the Middle East - the fillets don't seem that huge in either.

Still, I don't want to have to cut everything, and I do like the look of that Demeyere pan. Would the 3.5 qt one be better:

Too small for two people?

Hi Duffy, I definitely wouldn't do more deep frying - I just want to do some. I'm of two minds - I like that chip pan and basket, but I do want a decent sauté pan at some point (frankly I need to get a place with a bigger kitchen!).

I probably wouldn't get the All-Clad for the reasons stated earlier.

If the Demeyere Atlantis 2.6 Quart Conic Sauteuse Pan can definitely double as a deep fryer, I might just get that. As long as deep frying in it wouldn't degrade the pan (given it's not cheap).

Thanks, I hadn't seen that chip pan and basket. It's pretty appealing. I still need a sauté pan, but can probably leave that for a later date.

I'm just going to fry some crumbed fish fillets for two people.

By AC do you mean All-Clad? I'd be reluctant after the review I read. It seemed pretty convincing to me. I don't want a pot full of oil moving round my stove.

Anybody use one of these?

Re Le Creuset, there are pros and cons here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/683503

But I've read elsewhere that enamel's not recommended for deep frying. Maybe a Google search will show up something.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Sorry, it wasn't the Demeyere one that warped - it was the All-Clad, which I was also leaning towards: http://www.amazon.com/All-Clad-Stainl...

A couple more questions ... The Le Creuset fondue looks very good - can I use it on the stove? I read that enamel-covered casseroles weren't good for long-term deep frying - isn't the same true for their fondue?

Also, what about this Demeyere pan - would it suit my duel purpose: http://www.amazon.com/Demeyere-Atlant...

Thanks

sauté pan that can double as a deep fryer

Hi, can anyone suggest what the best sauté pan might be that can double as a deep fryer? I know people recommend the Lodge cast iron for deep frying, and also a standard wok. But space in my kitchen is tight, and I'd rather get a deep sauté pan that I can also use for deep frying. I was leaning towards getting a Demeyere sauteuse pan, but I read a review by someone who said theirs warped quite a bit. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies, everybody.

Zabar's looks interesting. If we go there round 5 p.m., will they still have a good selection of salads?

Hi, a friend and I are visiting NYC from New Zealand soon. Can anyone please recommend a good place for takeaway salads. We want to get some nice salads and go to a concert in a park. Only good quality, please - not supermarket stuff. Thank you!

Yes, that's right - I use it for finishing off bessara. I've checked Kalustyan's, and they have it. Thanks again.
