Brigtsen's - Good, but....

Marna just hung up on me! I had tried to call on Monday to cancel our reservation for this weekend, but discovered they're closed on Mondays. So I forgot to try to call again. She just called to confirm our reservation and I apologized that we had to cancel. She responded, "Glad I called...click." Just like that! I felt awful for not cancelling well in advance, but we just had a stroke in the family. She really made the situation a lot worse and I guess Brigsten's will no longer be receiving our business. Such a shame, I really liked the place!

PoBoys on a Sunday, preferably near S. Carrollton

There's also Franky & Johnny's on Arabella, that's still somewhat close.

Laurel Street Bakery?

I drove by this place the other day and hadn't seen it before since I usually take Magazine. Does anyone have any opinions or reviews on this place? Would it be a good place for a morning coffee and muffin on a lazy weekend morning?

Dante's Kitchen

Thank you, I was actually considering the beef trio medallions from looking at their menu online, so I'm glad you responded. I'll definitely be on the look out for some saffron broth!

Central Grocery is Rude

I've never been able to understand why it takes so long to get a muffaletta when they're premade and stacked high on the back counters. We once waited in line for about a half hour with maybe 6-8 people in front of us in line, so it wasn't even a busy day. When I arrived at the counter, they just turned around, grabbed a ready-made sandwich, and I was on my way. It's as if they purposely move slow to make the line go out the door.

Dante's Kitchen

We're going there this weekend, does anyone have any recommendations for their favorite entrees? I always like to know what people's favorites are, and those not-so-favorites as well. Thanks in advance!

Best Sushi in New Orleans?

We love Little Tokyo on north Carrollton. Their rolls are gigantic and reasonably priced.

Commander's Palace?

I agree with robrob's post - everything is wonderful and still a consistently pleasant dining experience every time.

Clancy's, La Petite Grocery, or Mat n'Naddies?

La Petite Grocery is fancier than Dick & Jenny's, but I think it's good for a nice night out with the size of party you have in mind. My husband and I went for a romantic night out there and realized that the larger parties kind of dominate the atmosphere, so it's louder than we anticipated. So it'd be a nice place for you! The food is very good.

Dining in/around Houma, LA

The Samurai Dragon is pretty good. They have good sushi and chinese food as well. Their menu is gigantic, so you'll probably find something you like.

I've also eaten at Cristiano. It's Italian and has a nice atmosphere. The food is good, not outstanding, but good for a quiet night out.

Honestly ?

We like Little Tokyo on North Carrollton. It's newer than the one on Causeway. We also get takeout from Mikimoto on Carrollton as well. We've definitely liked these two better than Sake Cafe.

Brunch/Lunch in FQ on Saturday?

Just to clarify, we're eating at 11am, not 4pm! I already have a dinner place picked out so I was looking for early lunchtime suggestions in the FQ. Thank you all!

Brunch/Lunch in FQ on Saturday?

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I should have said we're going to brunch or lunch at 11am.

Brunch/Lunch in FQ on Saturday?

We are hosting family in May for graduation weekend and I need suggestions for an early lunch or brunch place in the French Quarter or CBD before graduation that day at 4pm. I already am planning on Commander's Palace for another day. I was thinking Court of Two Sisters since some family members have never been to New Orleans. Does anyone know the cost of the Jazz Brunch Buffet? Is it still around $28 per person?

Does anyone else have suggestions for lunch or brunch in the FQ for a party of 6-7 people? I would like to do something more Creole/Cajun rather than just sandwiches or burgers. Thank you!

Wolfgang's for Dinner?-MGM Detroit

I have heard it's good, but overpriced for what you get.

Best burger in the quarter?

Port of Call is very good, but just be prepared to wait if you arrive during the busiest times. We arrived at what we thought was "early" around 5pm and still had to wait 40-45 minutes for a table for 2.

Salad - lunch spots?

I usually think of Cafe Rani on Magazine when I'm in the mood for a nice big entree salad for lunch. Does anyone else have recommendations around the $10-$15 range that's open for lunch?

Vegan/Vegetarian in NOLA?

Sara's in Uptown has a few vegetarian options and has received good reviews.

Confused...but must pick one!

GW Fins is seriously a disappointment. I brought a girlfriend from out of town there to make sure she had a great New Orleans experience and I was shocked at how mediocre and subpar my meal was. I would tell you to cancel your GW Fins reservation and book Stella instead so that you can experience both Stella and August, and forget about GW Fins.

Duck po-boy?

I thought it was great - very tender and seasoned well, and not too greasy or fatty. My husband had the rabbit po boy and that was very good as well. The rabbit is breaded and fried, so different from the duck. It's hard to compare the two - I definitely enjoyed tasting both!
