My favourite Aunt and i devoured plate after plate of freshly steamed crabs at a seaside hawker stall in Penang. Great memories.
My current drink of choice:
You can't go wrong with a Tom Collins.
I really wish I could:
Hop into a TARDIS to travel back in time/space - I'd visit my Malaysian relatives who were living (and eating!) it up in the 70's and 80's and share their favourite meals.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Chocolate Raspberry Pavlova - but beware, it turns otherwise-civil folks into ravenous wolves.
My favorite comfort food:
Chee cheong fun from a Macanese hawker stall. It's different to the stuff you get at dim sum places.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
The Station Hotel in Footscray, Melbourne, Australia | Esquire Kitchen in Sungei Wang Plaza, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (circa 1985) | The Duchess of Spotswood in Spotswood, Melbourne, Australia. | The Point in Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia. | Plume in Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Australia.
My most tattered cookbooks:
The Cook's Companion by Stephanie Alexander is THE book! My Nigella books also take a beating.
