Anyone know what happened to Kensington Organic Ice Cream?

Solferino closed? NOOO! That would be sad news, indeed. I won't miss Kensington Organic.

most bang for my buck? (best tasting menus)

I've got a champagne appetite & a beer wallet. Looking to splurge on a fancy tasting menu for my birthday. I'm looking for a meal that will knock my socks off, not a name that will impress people. As someone who can only spend 100-150 on a meal once a year, what is my best bet for an interesting, delicious, surprising menu that makes it worth blowing half my rent?

Good, not completely snooty service is also a plus.

Thanks!

affordable gift basket for foodies?

I'm looking to pick up a food gift basket for a discerning food adventurer. However, my budget is under $50, so I'm looking for somewhere relatively inexpensive, or somewhere with really unique items that will be impressive in small amounts. West-end downtown is best.

Thanks!

Toronto’s Best Butter Tarts Aren’t in Toronto

I second Hannah's Kitchen. I volunteer for a group that caters from them, and it's the thought of those butter tarts that gets me out of bed for the all-day meetings....

black bean tortilla chips (kettle chips)

So I used to be hooked on those Kettle Chips Black Bean & Garlic things, and then suddenly every store that I used to find them at (which was already a challenge) said that their distributers had stopped carrying them. According to the kettle chips website, they still exist.

Anyone know where to find them in Toronto?

I was so desperate that I considered ordering them online, but the shipping is $30!

Thanks!
