On our way to New Orleans first time--overwhelmed!!

Hands down best so far! Requested the Garden Room and everything from the way we were greeted when we arrived (early only because it was raining) to helpful menu recommendations to a more than polite farewell was perfection! Thank you littleman! Restaurant August--the food was amazing but our waiter was a little pretentious. His assistant mire than made up for him! We are going to Bon Ton tonight!

On our way to New Orleans first time--overwhelmed!!

Leaving tomorrow for a trip to NO--first time. There for a conference, so the first few days are pretty much filled with that and several cocktail parties at great places, including August, Cafe Adelaide, Arnauds, Court of Two Sisters, etc. Have a lunch reservation for Commander's Palance on Thursday.

At this point, I just don't know how to narrow it down--there seem to be so many great options to eat!! We were thinking go for the "big" meal at lunch most days and in the evenings go somewhere for music and small plates. Do need a place for dinner Tuesday, We are two couples, semi-adventurous with food, all love seafood. HELP!!

From Tuesday evening to Saturday we are on our own and we need some direction chowhounds--what is not to be missed? I am sure we will hit Cafe Au Monde and Mother's along the way, but I am just so overwhelmed with all the choices for our few days on our own!!

Best free bread in NYC restaurants?

Kennedy's -Breezy Point, NY--they serve a semolina twist with sesame seeds that is to die for--even the breadsticks and flatbreads that are in the basket as well are not to be missed. All the bread comes from Moretti's Bread Store on Avenue N in Brooklyn. They line up down the street at this place on holidays, and they close when they sell all the bread for the day--whcih can be fairly early! They make fabulous rolls as well. Even their Irish Soda Bread is great--which is pretty good for an Italian bread Store!

Best steakhouse near 341 W 36th St NYC?

Was looking for a nice steakhouse for a business dinner a few months back, and saw recommendation's for Keen's on chowhounds. It was really good. Loved the atmosphere, there are hundreds of old time pipes lining the ceiling in the reception area. Service was impeccable and food just what you'd expect at a high end steakhouse in Manhattan. There is also Uncle Jack's -not sure of the cross street, but it's on 9th and in the vicinity of where you are looking. Another long time favorite. Touristy is the last word I would use to describe either place. My impression in both were a lot of NY business people.

How is City Lobster in Midtown

Sorry chowhounds- I searched and searched and kept getting everything to do with the word Lobster rather than the place! Going to theater tomorrow and could not get in our first choice, so someone suggested this place. What do you think? Thanks for any & all replies. Need a Seafood place in the vicinity of Broadway & 50th.

Restaurant Week lunch at Frankie & Johnnie's?

My friends and I going tomorrow for a birthday lunch and wanted to know how is it? When I called they had at least 6 or 7 entrees. What say chowhounds? Will this be a memorable meal or matinee day nightmare?

Early Business Dinner TONIGHT!! Midtown--HELP!!

Actually trying to stay not too far from there--and subways too! Thanks. On a whim I tried calling Keen's rather than using Open Table and I got a table--thanks anyway--due to postings I am looking forward to trying Keen's.

Early Business Dinner TONIGHT!! Midtown--HELP!!

Hey Chowhounds:

I need help! Had dinner planned tonight for Milos, but the person who was craving it dropped out--and since its a little out of our way for the commute home we are trying to regroup! We are 4 for an early (5:30) business dinner. I already tried to get into Keen's--no luck and I am spending waaaayyyyy too much time here searching through the boards!! Is there a hand who can help? Would prefer seafood or steak, had enough Italian, Asian, Chinese, etc. for a while!! Help me hounds!! I have loved every place I tried so far that has been recommended--save me with a decent place I can get into for dinner!! THANKS!!

Hells Kitchen Spots

Just tried Chelsea Grill on 9th Avenue between 46th & 47th after reading about it on the boards here--went for lunch Thursday for a co-worker's birthday. It was really very nice. It was pretty quiet but the waitstaff was friendly, attentive and service was quick! Burgers were awesome, shrimp appy was nice too! The homemade potato chips in baskets on the table were really great!! Cozy atmosphere -small!
