Moe's - is it just me?

Hi TexSkills,

If I want Qdoba I have to go to Boston. I was prejudiced at first knowing Jack in the Box is Qdoba's parent company, but they do have some good things on their menu. But from the Cape Moe's is well worth the trip to Plymouth Qdoba isn't worth the 90 minute drive. Do you mean Tijuana Flats in Providence?

Is Fondue back? - The Melting Pot opinions.

Hi Marcia2,

Well.. how many theme chains are making their money on a gimick versus good food? I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience, I have when I've gone. Is it authentic and the place I'd go for a special evening... no. But when you want to spend a few hours with a group of friends and laugh, talk and have a good time yes. Did you mention to your waiter or the manager you weren't happy with the quality of the food they served you?

Moe's - is it just me?

We have a new Moe's in Plymouth, MA that I'vve been enjoying. I agree with you the first time I saw the menu the cute names where a bit much. However, I just describe what I want and the staff always provides an excellent meal no matter what I ask for and I just let them figure out what to call it when they ring in my order. It's in the new mall with Super Walmart, Red Robin, and Not Your Average joe's. It's to the right when you first enter tha mall across from DSW.

Is Fondue back? - The Melting Pot opinions.

I'll dare to return to this topic.. Are you unhappy with the technique that requires you to cook your own food or the cost both of which you knew as soon as you saw the menu?

Mimi's Cafe?

I love their salads, but ask for the dressing on the side because they tend to pour far too much on them. Also Mimi's muffins are addictive!

Biscuits - making ahead

Hi ChouxChoux,

I might have another option for you. This recipe has been in my family for a long time and the dough actually improves with age. You can make the dough and it will keep for weeks in the refrigerator. With this recipe you can make the dough ahead and just roll and cut them, allow to rise, and then pop them in the oven to bake when you pull out the turkey!

Angel Biscuits

5 cups flour 1/2 cup lukewarm water
3/4 cup shortening 1 package yeast
1 teaspoon baking powder 2 Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt 2 cups milk

Dissolve yeast in water and add sugar. Allow to proof for 10 minutes. Mix shortening and remaining dry ingredients in a separate bowl until crumbly like a pie crust. Add milk and yeast mixture and stir until moist. Place in a container with room to rise and this can be kept for weeks in the refrigerator.

When ready to bake, remove desired amount of dough from refrigerator and roll to 1/2" thickness and cut out biscuits. Allow to rise for 30 minutes before baking. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes until golden. I've known some family members to just drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet!

babycakes in quincy

I split the strawberry shortcake, red velvet, lemon coconut, and carrot cake with several friends last Friday. They were all great, but the strawberry shortcake was outstanding!

Hi kitchengirl,

Thanks for your input. What do you mean by the functions were easier to use? How long have you been using them versus the Dacor?

Hello fellow hounds,

I'm looking for your experiances with Miele ovens. We're remdeling our kitchen in a few months and thinking about going with Miele. Who has one? What do you like most? What don't you like?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for healthy desserts that are tasty

Hi dianes50,

One of my favorites from the South Beach Boards is to blend low fat ricotta until it's creamy and add either splenda and cocoa, or any of the sugar free jello mixes with ice cubes and you get an amazing "milk shake" that doesn't taste sugar free or low fat. And if you toss it in the freezer you have some great "ice cream" in about an hour!

Me-n-Ed's pizza - Perogy pizza?

I remember Me-N-Ed's from the 70's in the Bay Area and Central Valley and thought it was history. They use to make a great pizza with an interesting crust, it had bromated flour and was thin and rather crackery (is that a real word?) in texture. Does that sound like the same place.

The Melting Pot?

I know I'm in the minority, but, I like The Melting Pot. It isn't cutting edge, but it can be a fun experiance with friends. I have never experianced the bad vegetables other mentioned in the ealier thread, but I wonder.... why didn't they complain about it at the time? mho

Silicone cake pans ?

Help. I just made one of my favorite cakes in a new silicone cake pan. It fell after it came out of the oven and the texture where the cake touched the pan seems strange, it has a very open pourus look to it. What did I do wrong or should I have known before I baked the cake?

Smith & Wollensk's Wine Week Lunch

I'm going with some friends to Smith & Wollensky's for lunch tomorrow for Wine Week (10 wines for $10) and am wondering what's the best choices on the menu. The spinach tenderloin salad and the butcher burger both sound good. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
