Saturday Brunch in NOLA

Ruby Slipper. There are three locations, one just a block outside the Quarter on Magazine. Super delicious and unique food (you hardly ever find unique breakfast food), huge mimosas and strong bloody marys. Its nice but not super fancy. I've taken out of town guests there and a couple have said it was their favorite meal spot - And I take my folks to the greats.

Best Fried Chicken in/near the French Quarter

Mena's on Chartres and Bienville. Mostly locals go here, greasy spoon but reeeeeally great friend chicken, po boys, red beans and rice, muffalattas, pork chops, etc... (504) 525-0217 (I go there quite a bit:)

For our Anniversary Dinner: Clancy's or Atchafalaya?

if you haven't already decided, Clancy's DEFINITELY. Their fried oysters on melted brie will send the romance vibe of your anniversary into overdrive. Rest of the food is pretty phenomenal too.

Cinque Terra/Florence: looking for Italian-brand canned tuna w/ cannellini beans in red sauce

yes packed in olive oil is key, I agree. But I found that, just like so many other foods, the canned tuna from Europe that I've tasted is much superior to our canned tuna.

Cinque Terra/Florence: looking for Italian-brand canned tuna w/ cannellini beans in red sauce

Searching for Italian-brand canned tuna with cannellini beans in red sauce

I was in Cinque Terra, Italy some years ago and one of the little stores there sold this incredible canned tuna with cannellini beans in red sauce. I was a college student on a tight budget and was eating a lot of this incredibly tasty tuna with bread and crackers. Does anyone know what I’m talking about, can tell me the name of a brand perhaps? I’d like to find it online but haven’t been able to find hide nor hair of it anywhere. A product name would be most helpful.

thanks in advance.

Canned tuna and cannellini beans in red sauce (where??)

I'm looking for someone who can tell me the name of a brand so I can order it. I've searched exhaustively for it online. And I'm not interested in trying to recreate it at home again.

Canned tuna and cannellini beans in red sauce (where??)

no its not. The tuna in the US has a tin-ny taste, very distinctive, that was not present in the Italian canned. And something about the long marinade in the can made a fluid mouthfeel rather than three separate food mixed together.

Oh, okay - sorry. I'm new here, just signed up last night.

Since you know the item can you tell me a name or two of the product manufacturer? I've been searching for years, would really like to locate it.

also I'm still confused. The Italy page has a lot of posts from English speaking visitors about Italian food. Wouldn't they most likely come in contact with what I'm looking for than anyone else?

Canned tuna and cannellini beans in red sauce (where??)

I was in Cinque Terra about 10 years ago and one of the little stores there sold this incredible canned tuna that had cannellini beans and some red sauce in it. I was a college student on a severe budget and was eating a lot of this incredibly tasty tuna with bread and crackers. Since returning stateside, I've not seen hide nor hair of it anywhere. I've searched the internet - nothing. Does anyone anywhere know this phantom tuna and where I can find it, either online or someplace in the US?
