Great Italian in Dyker Heights

hmm, looks like there is a Mona Lisa Cafe AND a Mona Lisa Bakery, one is 1476 86th St and the other is 7717 13th Avenue, anyone know if they are the same/affiliated, etc? We would only be heading there for dessert/coffee...

Great Italian in Dyker Heights

I appreciate your feedback. We are definitely looking for more a more old school vibe and though Tommaso's has been on my short list, I have read alot of not so great things about it, so we will prob take your recommendation and check out New Corner's or Mama Rao's. Also, is anyone familiar with Mona Lisa? Still good for dessert and a latte?

Great Italian in Dyker Heights

Hi Everyone,

Looking for the best Italian joints in Dyker Heights near the holiday lights. My husband and I are heading there to check out the lights this week and want to get some delish Italian while we are there. I read some of the older threads, but it looks like some of the places mentioned are now closed or their reviews seem to have slipped. We will be limited to public transit and foot, so please keep that in mind. Also, we may pop in somewhere for dessert afterwards, so please feel free to share any suggestions for that as well, thanks!

BBQ in downtown area for 20 people on a Saturday night

Thanks everyone! I kind of figured about SAMs. Has anyone been to Mack's? (Formerly Danny's). They are open until 2:30am and seems like the reviews are pretty stellar.

Yeah, I think most of the aforementioned places told me they closed at 9. I called Sams and they said they were fine with our group size, I just wasn't sure where it was. Do you think it would be a reasonable cab ride to green mesquite, blue ox or rubys from where we are staying? Worth the cab ride compared to Scholz? We are NYers so pretty used to the whole cab thing, and the group is pretty set on getting some good bbq, be it from a truck, a fancy resto or someone's mama, but I know it's tough since we can't come until so late.

Thanks! Yeah, unfortunately, we have some pretty tight parameters to deal with, so this definitely helps! Any idea if Sam's BBQ is walking distance and any thoughts on the place?

BBQ in downtown area for 20 people on a Saturday night

I will be in down town Austin next Saturday with a group of 18-20 late 20s early 30s, and I am trying to find a place to eat BBQ in the area (preferably walkable from the La Quinta capital). I would like to be able to make a reservation and we won't be eating until like 9pm. Trying to avoid Stubbs and Lamberts. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
