Le Foret any news
As a result of all the good reviews we heard about Le Foret, we went last week and were realllllllly unimpressed. The apps were tasty but the entrees lacked flavor and were over cooked. We had the veal and the duck. Both entrees were bland and just dull. To their defense, they had 2 big parties. We will give it another try, but we were really disappointed first go round.

Private Room in restaurant for potentailly disastrous wedding party
we had our rehersal dinner at Ralphs in the park. They were very reasonable for their private dinning rooms.
Cafe Equator (Thai)
I go there all the time. I love it for lunch. Havent been for dinner. But their lunch specials are great!
Iris=disappointment
The service was terrible! When we sat down, we were the only table. It took at least 25 minutes for us to get our drinks. Our waiter really didnt know much about the menu items. He just said everything is good. As the dinner progressed, a few more tables were seated. And it took forver to get our entrees.
As far as the food, it was a major disappointment as well. The octopus was VERY chewy. And the salad it was one was tasteless. The sweetbreads looked as if they were deep fried...but come to find out they were just REALLY burnt. The gazpacho was decent. But i felt for the price, it was VERY disappointing.
We got a bottle of wine and that was great. Their prices werent too bad.
Just as an overall dinner, we were highly disappointed. The food was mediocre and service was terrible!
Best place to host a cocktail party in New Orleans ?? Oct 24th
I would call Ralphs on the Park. For large parties, they have very resonable prices!
Iris=disappointment
My husband and I went to Iris last night. We hadnt been since they moved locations. We got 4 different apps, which included: the Ravioli, octopus salad, gazpacho, and sweet breads. We split the steak entree. It was $150 with wine. And it just was a big disappointment.
New Orleans Bachelor Party
ACME is good. But you could do Dragos...Gordon BIrsh...Superior Grill..Lucys...Those are a little bit more laid back places.
Hosting a New Orleans Wedding
Depending on how big of wedding you are having..you could look into New Orleans Board of Trade. Its in the CBD. They use Pigeon Catering. All of the food Ive had was great! They have a courtyard- very new orleans.
Yet another visit to New Orleans: what am I missing?
I wasnt really impressed with MILA when i went. actually very disappointed. There are some other great resturants: La Boca, Dantes Kitchen, NOLA. If you are trying to find something open on sundays, you could even do Bourbon House or Bacco
Stella!
So i just wanted to post about my meal last night. We went to Stella last night to celebrate out anniversary. We did the tasting and shared the wine tasting. everything was AMAZING. i t hink it was the best meal we have had. My fiance is a foodie. It was 7 courses and everyone was incredible. The squash soup and risotto were my favorites. everythng was GREAT! and they brought us out the french toast dessert. That was unbeliveable. Just wanted to pass along my great experience. :)
Thoughts On Pelican Club?
Ive kind of heard that Pelican Club isnt as great as claimed. You could try ...NOLA? k Pauls? Bourbon House? those are all in the Quarter
Rec for a large group around The International House
Inside the Internation house is Ramba. They have some large tables in the middle. It a Tapas place- so thats fun! I went today and it was great. Also around there: Palace Cafe, Luke. i know palace cafe can do groups with no problem. im not sure about Luke. But Ramaba doesnt take reservations. Maybe Gordon Birsh? its a microbewery by Harrahs.
Rambla, my new favoite restaurant
Jazzy-
just wanted to say thanks for the req. we went today for lunch and it was great. We got the croquettes, empandas, ceviche and the fig flatbread. Everything was great. Cant wait to go back for dinner. ;)
PLEASE Check my picks
instead of acme..u could always do dragos. Its great. Ive never been to Napoleon house. NOLA is great. ( great suggestion) Also i really like Bourbon House is good too. Most of the breannans are pretty good in the quarter: Bacco, Redfish, Bourbon House.
Rambla, my new favoite restaurant
is there a different menu for lunch and dinner? or is the same just minus the specials?
Rambla, my new favoite restaurant
Does anyone know if they are open for lunch? everyday?
halloween in NOLA
yea i would def. suggest going by Frenchman wherever you decide to eat. :) its a huge block party where everyone dresses up. its an experience!
Good place for a pre-game meal and drinks for Saints game?
Maybe gordon birch. Ernst does have food. but to me..its kind of really good bar food. Im not sure if that matters to you. It depends on what kind of food you are looking for. If you want more drinking/decent food...or if you want a good meal before hand.
Looking for a totally CASUAL FQ restaurant
If you like oysters- you can check out Dragos. iTs in the Hilton by the River. Its across from Harrahs Casino. Near that area is also Gordon Birsh. They brew their own bear there and has really good food. You should try Mothers. its very new orleans. :)
Best Wine List in NOLA
If you love wine.. you should check out WINO. Its a great place on Tchop. They have all their wines..kind of on tap.( Not like beer, but special wine cooler-but same concept) You are able to try tons of wines. They have some appetizers there. Also you could try Delachaise on St.Charles. They have alof of wines there.
Pigeon Catering
Since my post...i have done my tasting with pigeon. are you thinking about doing your wedding at the board of trade? We did our tasting as well as their open house. at both, we were able to try alot of their food. everything was fantastic!
Best Place to Eat Appetizers
I would try Delachaise. Its on st.charles. Its a wine bar...but with great food. Also try Vega Tapas. Its on Metairie Road. Its tapas style- small portions. Its great!
DC to NOLA in Oct-make reservations now?
Staying near the casino is a great location. You can really walk to alot of places. October is a great time to come. It isnt so hot and muggy like it is during the summer. :) But as far as reservations, you could probably wait till you get here. There arent any places that take weeks to get in. Usually the day of/day before is good enough.hope you have an amazing trip!
mila
So my fiance and I went there a few nights ago. We got a few apps and then split and entree. We did get a bottle of wine. But the bill came to $100 per person. I just didnt see the food as being worth what we paid.Has anyone else been for dinner? What were your thoughts?
Supporting great eateries still hurting 2.5 years later...
I would skip Arabesque. Went on Friday, will not go back.
Pigeon Catering
yes! thank you so much for your feedback. I'm getting married next march and that is the catering company the place uses.
