Well that's because I'm trying to account for our child's afternoon nap though that may be unlikely after all these sweets!

I sure hope your theory on croissants is correct!

Which is the better of these two markets and which days are best to visit?

Thank you.

We are lucky we have a pretty adventurous eater so not looking for kid friendly menus. Just somewhere not too fancy and I'm thinking set menus that take too long will probably not work. But loud is good. If you've been to Au Passage many times it must be good!

Appreciate all your feedback!

Brasserie Les Haras vs 1741 Strasbourg

If you only had one lunch...which would you choose and why? And which one might be more suitable to go with a 4 year old?

Thank you.

Thanks so much juliemarie8.

We're going to try to arrive at Holy Belly right at 10am when it opens on Sunday. Hopefully that will work.

I read about Zerda Cafe. Great Lebanese restaurant and apparently Alain Ducasse is a regular so must be good!

Have you been to Au Passage? Again, have the same concern about whether it's kid friendly or not. At least they take reservations.

I can't seem to find a suitable place for lunch in the 5th or 6th so thought we might try and pick up lunch at Bread and Roses. Read that their pissaladière feuilletée is good.

Have you been to Claus for breakfast? That one sounds good too.

In looking for casual dinner options also came across Sunken Ship, Big Fernand (though I hear the queue can be long), and Breizh Cafe (some say it's too crammed for kids?.

Paris Food Tour

Hello,

Will be travelling to Paris with my husband and 4 year old. Would love some feedback on the itinerary I've created. Especially if the restaurants I've chosen are suitable to go with a young child. As well as the likelihood of getting into some places that don't take reservations..we can't really wait a long time for a table with a young child. Thank you!

Day 1 (8th, 10th and 11th)
Breakfast at Holy Belly
Chocolate Covered Gingers and Croustillant at Fouquet
Les Puces de Saint Ouen
**Need a lunch option in the market
Afternoon treats at La Bague de Kenza

**Dinner at Le Perchoir (Is this too fancy to go with a 4 year old?)

Day 2 (1st, 2nd, and 3rd)
Coffee at Telescope
L’éclair de Genie
Boulangerie Julien
 for pain viennois au chocolat
Pain de Sucre for Marshmallows
**Lunch at Le Servan (Is this too fancy to go with a 4 year old?)
**Need a dinner option for a Monday (ideally near the 11th)

Day 3 (left bank)
Aux Merveilleux de Fred
Chiffon cakes at pâtisserie ciel
Chocolates at Patrick Roger
Viennoiseries at Pierre Herme
**Lunch at L'Avant Comptoir (can we arrive at 12pm to get in? understand they don't take reservations. Is this too fancy to go with a 4 year old?))
Berthillon ice cream
**Dinner at Boucherie les Provinces (Is this too fancy to go with a 4 year old?)

Day 4 (2nd, 3rd and 12th)
Coffee at The Broken Arm
Madelines and croissants at Ble Sucre
Caramels at Jacques Genin
Coffee at Lockwood
**Need lunch option (near the 11th or 4th)
**Dinner at Clamato or Vivant (what's the likelihood of getting into Clamato if we go early? Is this too fancy to go with a 4 year old?)

Day 5 (2nd, 10th, 18th)
Breakfast at Du Pain et des Idees
Coffee at Kooka Boora
Chou Caramelise at Sebastien Gaudard
**Lunch at Frenchie to Go (what's the likelihood of getting in here for lunch if we arrive at 12pm?)
**Dinner at Le Chateaubriand (is this too fancy to go with a 4 year old?)

Thank you for your feedback masha. We have a reservation at Daniel & Denise at their 156 rue de Créqui location - not sure if this is the original or new location.

I heard that the menu at Cafe Des Federations may not be that suitable for children? Maybe because of the offal? Though I think a lot of Lyonnaise dishes include offal?

Thank you for the tip on Brasserie des Croix Roussiens.

Brussels with a 4 year old

Hi,

I will be in Brussels with my husband and 4 year old. We are looking for tasty but casual restaurants. So far we have booked dinner at Aux Armes de Bruxelles. Wondering if anyone else has any recommendations?

We also plan on visiting Place du Châtelain, chocolatiers (like Wittamer, Pierre Marcolini, Galler, Laurent Gerbaud), Moeder Lambic Fontainas Beer Hall, and enjoying frites (Frit Flagey, Maison Antoine, Fritkot Bompa, Friterie du Miroir). Can't seem to decide on the best chocolatiers and trite shops!

Also should I assume that everything will be closed on Ascension Day?

Strasbourg with a 4 year old

I will be in Strasbourg with my husband and 4 year old and we are thinking of having dinner at Chez Yvonne and 1741. I am wondering if these restaurants might be too formal? Is lunch more casual?

Any other restaurants or food experiences you'd recommend while there? We'd like to go to the chocolatier Thierry Mulhaupt.

Thank you.

Casual dining in Lyon with a 4 year old: Any advice ChefJune and others?

I have read a bunch of the posts on Lyon and was hoping for some critique on our itinerary. My husband and I will be travelling with a 4 year old so are looking for some tasty, not too formal dining options. I have some bouchons picked out though I suspect we may need something to break up the heavy eating at some points so would appreciate those recommendations as well. I've been reading about Ouest Express, for example, and think this might be a good option for it's casual atmosphere. We are staying on Place Bellecour so also looking for things that are not too far walking distance from there.

Also, I've looked mostly into food options so far (as the case may be!) Any other not to be missed experiences/sights in Lyon?

Here's the itinerary so far:

Day 1
Dinner @ Café Des Federations
Ok to bring a child here?

Day 2
Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse
Mere Richard
Any other shops we shouldn't miss?
Lunch at AOC Les Halles Market - ok to bring a child here?

Bernachon Chocolatier

Need a dinner option - maybe Café Comptoir Abel though I suspect we may need a break from heavy Lyonnaise food....any suggestions?

Day 3

Cafe Mokxa
Any other closer coffee shops to Place Bellecour?

L'épiaison or Pignol Patisserie
Pick up sandwich for lunch

Dinner @ Daniel et Denise
Ok to bring a child here?

Day 4
Croix-Rousse Market

Boulangerie du Palais
Sandwich for lunch or maybe grab something at the market

Dinner @ Sud Bocuse

Thank you!
