Thanks again for being right on top of this. Full report after we eat. We in N.J. not only shop, we eat!

Reasonable place in Montclair?

Hey, light bulb time here. I just realized that "Next Door" is another restaurant and NOT the location of Raymond's to YOU. Duh, here. I'll get right on it. Thanks again, Curiz

Reasonable place in Montclair?

A group of differing budgets will be going to Montclair on Sunday. Looking for a place for a wide menu and prices to please everyone.

New Greek Restaurants in Bridgewater/Somerville

Just went to Kyma last night to meet friends coming down from Hacketstown. You are SO right on about what they call their Country salad!! I mean - get-out-of-here - what do you mean making it with cardboard, hard, tasteless winter tomatoes in the middle of harvest time in N.J. (if you can find good heirloom ones that is). We should have listened to the other poster who said the same about the salad. - Otherwise, spot on: we got there at 6:00 on a Saturday night, and halfway through our meal, we were shouting over the noise. Outside is the better option is the temps and mosquitos allow. - And we didn't order the best dishes. The three spread starter was good, but our fish dish over white beans was meh: the beans were soupy. And yes, you need to order carefully if you're watching your budget. - Thanks for reminding us of Pithai in Highland Park. We went once and must return! And also to Kyma and order different things this time.

Stage House in Scotch Plains

We went last night (3/26/09) to try the new "Stimulus Menu" ($14.95 for 2 courses and $14.95 for a bottle of wine). I was up from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. with extreme thirst and stomach pains. I had the mussels in broth (very good) but the lamb stew with stout and vegetables was laughable. What vegetables? And I've seen cat food that looked more appealing. It was much too salty, and I should have sent it back but didn't. The wine was good for the price. - We didn't go to the tavern because it was so very noisy (basketball and more basketball). Next time, the excellent hamburger!

Nice place near Kenilworth, NJ (or in Union County)?

Re Le Rendez-Vous, we were disappointed the last time we went. The service was mediocre at best, and the noise level was almost painful. (It's tiny.) But they do (usually) have someone with a French accent around. Service was terribly slow for the food, which we couldn't figure as the place is tiny. - Chez Catherine has good French food, service good etc. (No French accents however.) To go a bit farther, The Stage House in Scotch Plains is an excellent choice. Atmosphere like crazy, professional service and excellent food. Oh, Also David Drake in Rahway. Stupendous, but definitely on someone else's tab!

This question for everyone: I need to take a family group with two four year olds out in Westfield. Does anyone have a link to Teresa's website please? Thanks. -

Spectacular: A Toute Heure in Cranford, NJ

We had eaten at A Toute Heure during the summer and loved it as well. One thing and the other, we didn't return till 11/10, a Saturday night. Good grief! The noise level (and we were there starting at 6:30) was so loud, it bordered on painful. I would recommend NOT going there on the weekend. - Also, we love vegetables; since the restaurant emphasizes fresh and local, veggies were in short supply on the menu and on our plates. - And just back from Paris, I wish that they had simply put "un pichet d'eau" on our table. It was so busy, that at times we had to wait and wave for refills of water.
