Samsung Range: Induction stove and Flex-Duo Oven - Your Pros/Cons Please!

Not induction. We have an induction single element which we purchased as a separate piece. Live it for some things - quick boiling and good with liquids or things with a lot of liquid.

Samsung Range: Induction stove and Flex-Duo Oven - Your Pros/Cons Please!

We ended up buying the KitchenAid double oven. We got an amazing price and it is what I originally wanted. Not installed yet... We're still renovating. But can't wait!

Kitchen counter tops question?

I know there have been many a discussion about counter tops and I ask for your input on one more:

We're re-modelling the kitchen to have a "baker's corner" for me with stainless steel counter tops.

For the remainder of the kitchen I am wanting another material for the counter tops. Please see the criteria for consideration below. Would love your input and comments:

- avid cook/baker and though I'll have a baker's corner would like a counter that can stand up to all the wear and tear of a well-used kitchen

- I use a lot food stuffs that stain (curries, berries, red wine)

- Low maintenance required!

- Would ideally like white (will have white subway tile backsplash and dark wood cabinets and re-claimed wood floor)

Thoughts? Am leaning towards Corian counter top...

THANKS!!
Rosie

Samsung Range: Induction stove and Flex-Duo Oven - Your Pros/Cons Please!

Awesome post. Thanks for all the info. I have some serious reading in my future. Thanks. Finding the perfect oven for an avid baker like myself as well as the flexibility I want is a tall order.

Also, regarding appliance service/customer service... According to consumer and expert ratings, LG (Korean) have really good products, but when you dig into their service, and when you need parts etc, they are horrific. I am cautious with Samsung as it seems Korean manufacturers don't stock parts in North America making service and part requests a many month wait.

Samsung Range: Induction stove and Flex-Duo Oven - Your Pros/Cons Please!

We're buying a new range for our kitchen. Due to size restrictions, it needs to be standard range size (30") and ideally I would love a double oven. We're also very interested in induction stoves.

The Samsung makes a Flex-Duo range (with induction stove).

Do you have one or have you tried one? How do you find it? Does it really give you the flexibility of two ovens?

Are you an avid baker? Have you tried this oven? What have you baked? What are your findings? Pros? Cons?

And any general comments on Samsung as a whole are welcome.

Do you have Samsung appliances and if so, what has service been like for you? (Am looking for Canada service feedback and Toronto in particular). Thanks!

Bakers' input wanted: Have you ever baked in a True Convection oven?

Thanks for your post. Seems that finicky baking such as cakes, muffins and the like are subject to great variability with convection. Lucky you on getting such a deal.

Bakers' input wanted: Have you ever baked in a True Convection oven?

There seem to be different kinds of convection oven - the older technology with just a plain fan to blow the air around and the "True Convection" that also has a heating element by the fan in addition to the elements at the top and bottom. Thanks for your post!

The calculator is a great tool - THANKS c oliver! And an automatic conversion is now on my "must have list" - seems it would help in the guesswork. Thanks kagemusha49!

wekick... Thanks so much for your post! Most helpful indeed. By far you have provided more information about convection in relation to baking that I have ever seen. Thank you! This mini reno/upgrade is an opportunity to completely look at my baking & cooking needs/wants and to see what fits the budget and space, etc. Thanks for your suggestion on posting a particular brand, once I get down to a few models, I'll post. Thanks again!

Bakers' input wanted: Have you ever baked in a True Convection oven?

I cook a lot but am also a big-time baker and I am in the process updating the kitchen and have only ever used a standard oven for all my baking (cookies, biscuits, pies, cakes, cupcakes, tarts, etc) and have heard mixed reviews about baking in convection ovens. I am considering a True Convection oven (heating elements on top and bottom plus a third by the fan).

Ideally I would love to be able to bake several pans at a time (ie. 2-3 cookie sheets or 4 x 8" cake pans) all at once and achieve the same results as when I bake in a traditional oven. I guess time efficiency is what I am after.

If you're a baker I'd love to hear about your experience and pros/cons. Thanks!
