This is my favorite....not in Newark because I think they are all mass produced, but in Elizabeth.

Moe's Southwest Grill coming to Marlboro
I went once to the one in East Windsor. Nothing at all to even discuss. It was my own fault, I went in with high hopes.
New GREEK Restaurant coming to Applegarth Road, Monroe
I think this place is about to close. Last night (Thurs.) I drove by it around 7 ish, and maybe 4 cars. Last Sat. night we passed it around 8 and maybe 10 cars. During the week I rarely even see any cars. They have a sign outside buy 1 drink get 1 free.
Sad to see it go, but I don't know how they stay afloat with no one ever there. The one time we were there, the prices were much higher than they were in the Highland Park location, plus I thought the portions were smaller.
Has anyone been here recently?
Le Fandy - Fair Haven
This is one of our favorite restaurants! Chef Ong is a superb talent! The halibut is one of my favorite dishes. Glad to hear you had a lovely evening.
We also like Belford Bistro, but it has been over a year since we were there last, so I can't give too many comments about that place. Although, when we were there we did enjoy the meal very much so. I just HATE the location. It is in the middle of no where!!

Can you make your own tea @ home w/out a tea or coffee press?
Thanks for the info wyogal! :)
Can you make your own tea @ home w/out a tea or coffee press?
I know this sounds like a crazy, silly question, but I never did this before. The other day I was in the mall shopping and went into the tea store, Teavana. I tried some of the Youthberry Tea they had as a sample and it was sooo good!!!
I winded up speaking with another customer and she insisted I could make this at home myself. I never thought to ask if I needed a machine or could I just boil fruits together.
Has anyone done this before? Any tips? I really don't want to go out and buy a tea maker or coffee press if I can get the same effect by boiling the items in a pot.
Thanks for any help!
Can you get ANYTHING decent for lunch in Newark?
I use to work in Essex County Courthouse and I use to love the soup man's truck right outside!! yum!! That was 10 years ago, so no clue if he is still around, but I feel for you..nothing around!
Cafe Spezia in Manalapan
What is it with the influx of Italian American restaurants....??? yuck! SO sick of it! What makes them think they are better than the restaurant 2 doors down from them anyway??
Cafe Spezia in Manalapan
Maybe it is me, but those prices seem kind of high for the area and for what it is.
Keansburg/Red Bank Restaurant Needed - Retirement Party
We recently went to a baptism at the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank. I thought the food and of course that view was stunning! They did not do cash bar, it was included, but I am sure they could do as you wish.

Gregory's Seafood Restaurant & Market Manchester NJ... Rt 37
No problem, Tapas! Like I said, it probably looks the same inside as it does out. The fish is right there in the front, but not an single smell of fish! (Just how fresh it is!)
Enjoy!
Gregory's Seafood Restaurant & Market Manchester NJ... Rt 37
We went here last week. I have to say, my fish was super fresh! I had broiled flounder and it was such a nice few pieces of filet. The place was packed at 4:30, Sunday. There is absolutely nothing about the decor, but we really did not care because the fish was just so fresh! My husband had the same as me.
The only thing I did not care for was the Manhattan clam chowder. A little too watery I felt and not enough of clams, but tons of potatoes. (I hate that!)
Anyway, the dinners were $ 19.95 each and included that cup of soup. We were very please and if we ever are in that area again, we would go back!

Family restaurant suggestions in Marlboro/Manalapan/Freehold etc. area
My nephews (5, 7, and 9) eat here with us all the time! (they may be an exception, because they are little foodies, so they will try anything!) We usually share a rendezvous salad or an Armenian salad...Rendezvous has beets, cabbage, some meat in it all mixed together tableside..almost like a delish cole slaw. The Armenian salad is full of red beans and some meat.
The vareniki is a great kid choice! Like little potato dumplings served with sour cream. The kutabi had greens in it with fresh dill.(spinach and dill) soo good!
The kids love the samsas....stuufed iwth pumpkin or meat. They LOVE them!
My nephews really like the lamb shish kabobs and the chicken shish kabobs. The pototoes are thin sliced and fried crisp with a spinkle of dill. (or you can have rice instead)
Honestly, my 1 year old eats everything we order there, and my sister has no problem with her 3 boys. The food and place makes you feel as if you are visiting friends instead of dinning out! Plus, the Russian music on the flat screen TV's make it a fun night out with your husband and kids! :)
It is WAY better than any place that once to serve the little ones chicken tenders and FF! Maybe take out a few things at first, but I think the place is so nice and quaint.
It's outside the box. I am not Russian or Uzbecki and I love the place. I understand many "Americans" won't try the place because they are simply use to all the processed food served to us! Yuck! I suggest trying this gem!!!!
Cafe Everest/red bank,n.j.

I can't tell you enough how fabulous the food is. Evertything I have ever had there has been amazing!!! (located in the same plaza as Avanti Salon) It is a BYO, which is great! We bring our 1 year old there all the time and Svetlana, Albert & Marina could not be more accomodating! Try it tonight, you will want to go back again and again!!
Ironbound Section Newark
I LOVE Montreal!!! My favorite restaurant is L'Express! I am still talking about those spinach raviolis!
Five Year Anniversary Dinner in Monmouth County - Suggestions? (Looking for Beef Wellington and Risotto)
Good luck on the beef wellington, but I had some really great lobster risotto a couple years ago at Le Fandy in fair Haven. An excellent BYO. Romantic and the food is simply fabulous!

Ironbound Section Newark
Forget Newark...I think it is a total tourist trap. Have not had a good meal there in years. I have been going to Portugal Express in Elizabeth for tried and true quality food! I usually order the whole red snapper. Delish! A complete bargain for $ 15.00! (Includes a cup of homemade soup and Rice and FF...I know 2 starches, that is how they do it!) Last week I was there and I had the garlic shrimp for dinner. $ 13.00!!! I had leftovers to take home also.
The place is very ethnic and soooo good! Parking is on the street and sometimes you have to park afar, but the area is safe. It is right off of Rt. 1 South, behind the Burger King.
Trust me, it is really good!!!

Mr. Shrimp - Belmar
Agree 100% Little Johnny! I said the exact same thing on my firt trip. You could eat off those floors! Spotless!
Ye Old Cottage Inn - Keyport - has anyone been there recently?
Ha ha!! Too funny, Angelo!!! I know EXACTLY what you mean! Sometimes I do sound cirtical, but being the food snob I am today, why settle for anything less?
I use to love as a kid this place....Captain G's in Fords. (Remember...by Menlo Park Terrace on Rt. 1 South.) They had a soup & salad bar, and as a little girl I thought it was the coolest thing being able to get & pour my own hot, steaming soup from the salad bar. Imagine that today???How many lawsuits?? yikes!
