Worst Meals of 2010

Agreed. Had the same short rib and it was virtually unedible. I live in Tampa, so made a special trip to see this resto. The service was awful and the wine was served warm. Will never go back.

Downtown Tampa - Bachelor Party Recs

I live in South Tampa and have hosted/been a part of numerous bach parties. Stay downtown, Marriot Waterside or Westin Harbour Island (cabbing to Bern's or SoHo is less than $10). Make early dinner reservations at Bern's (no chance you'll get a spot in the bar for 4, let alone 10), you can get out of there for sub $75 no problem. If Bern's is definitely not an option, make a reservation at 717 South in their private room. There is no res fee and it has above average food. From there, you are within walking distance to all of the bars you could want: MacDinton's, Cheap, Dubliner, World of Beer, Yard of Ale, Drynk, The Rack etc....then head to Mons. Cab home from there for another $10. Stay out of Ybor, as others mentioned, it's a dump. You can even have a nightcap at Jackson's, which is located right next to the Westin.

Cheers.

Looking for restaurant suggestions for Tampa

Bernie,

Where will you guys be staying/golfing. I live in Tampa and will gladly give you some recs (food and golf) depending on your locale.

Need help please! SFO to Trefethen...where else?

I've been poking around on the SF board for quite awhile. I have to say, that the advice seems to be extremely knowledgable and insightful. I'm hoping I can get a bit of the same for my trip.

My fiancee and I are heading to CA from FL this weekend for our wedding on the 16th at Copain. We're in Sausalito on Saturday night and will likely eat in SF that evening. We'll be the guests of another couple, so I don't need any recs for dinner.

The next day is what I need help with! I'll be picking up my folks at SFO at 9:20. From there we're heading to Trefethen (I know this day of travel seems like a bit much/aggressive, but it's really the only day we have to spend any time in Napa, so it'll have to work). I'm a big fan of their wine and have a private tour and Library Tasting planned.

That evening will be spending the night in Petaluma (again, I know this is a cumbersome itinerary). I'd love some advice on one or two botique wineries to duck into, either near Trefethen or on the way back along Hwy 12. Also, a great little spot for lunch, ideally high end picnic fare.

Thanks so much for your help, we're really excited for the trip!

Tampa trip report - variety

Sorry, but Datz is not a great suggestion. After 6 attempts, 2 being OK-Good, the rest a trainwreck, I'm done with it for a while. I'll check back in 6 mo, but for now, they don't deserve the business.

Love the Pane Rustica rec and Mad Dogs and Englishmen is a good place for a beer if you're in the area.

Upscale Bonita Springs / Marco Island?

We just stayed the weekend (pleasure, not business) at Hyatt Coconut Point. Very nice accomodations, service and people. The four of us thought that the breakfasts in the hotel were excellent. I'm not even a breakfast guy, but they were great.

If you truly want a great dining experience, check out the Naples Tomato on 41 and Bonita Beach Rd. Excellent wine list and phenomonal food. The lasagna is tremendous. You will not be disappointed.
